How about just infections at the site of the bite? I expect that allergic reactions will be the major cause of non-venomous arthropod deaths. A note to the authors of the paper may resolve the issue for you.

All those legs...
I'm sorry but if a see a spider in the house, I have to attack. I hate killing things, but I can't get close enough to a spider to trap it. Even just talking about spiders makes my skin crawl...
