Posted this already at some other place but didn´t get satisfying explainations, maybe someone here can shed some light on this:

Look here, the 2 white discs aren´t there yet:
sohowww.nascom.nasa.gov...
Here they come:
sohowww.nascom.nasa.gov...

Someone at the other board suggested the disc hiding the sun has slipped, weird thing is, the sun seems to have gotten bigger in the two images. It comes out left and right of the hiding disc and the white things appear.

What´s going on?

Also look here for a different camera showing the same rings:

It must be time for the shift change. Who’s on duty today?
Second line.

Edit to add: Well it is Monday! Are we a little slow after a hard weekend?

Well, either the sun is about to kill all life in the solar system..
or
The satellite taking pictures of the sun isn't operating 100% correctly for some reason.

Oh wow the STAR is acknowledging EARTH are we behaving down here LOL????

It could be this im not sure
VVVV

Notice (LASCO IMAGES): Due to increased exposure in EIT and Lasco the scaling in real-time images will be different. This is true especially in C2 orange/clear. At a 100 second exposure, there will be saturation along the occulter in the north and south areas. This will produce little "horns" in the left and right direction from pixel bleeding.

Notice (EIT IMAGES): Due to a recent software update, we are experiencing problems with the workflow software that makes the SOHO EIT images available on our website. All other images are not affected. We are working to correct the problem.

In the meantime, the latest EIT images (provided by the Solar Data Analysis Center) are available in GIF format below:

I was looking at the video, and noticed that the line of video that has been seen through Venus extends at the same time these "discs" appear, and disappears.

From that I assume its a camera goof from too much light, but who knows.

Here is the video link: soho.esac.esa.int...

Video makes it easy to see what I'm talking about.

Come on People there is a reason why you have not seen Venus lately. Here is a map of the planets for this month.

Clearly it is ball lightning made out of swamp gas from venus.

Obviously the pictures that we see are malfunctioning.
There is extra light.

What do they call that in photography?
Over-exposure?
Probably what it is, or something of that nature.

Something is going on with the Sun lately, perhaps it is awakening grumpy after a long slumber. It has been unusually quite according to scientist. This was recorded on Dec. 4th.

A billion-ton coronal mass ejection (CME) billowed over the sun's western limb

^ Coronal mass ejection.
Thats nothing weird or to worry about unless you are an ATS member.

oh wait........

It's not an unusual thing to observe...but the magnitude of this particular one was what was unusual....incredibly large.

Very strange :/

Could be a camera fault.
could be a lens flare,

hmmm confusing XD

I've been watching since the thread I posted on the comet that was heading towards the sun. I've learned that "horns" come out from light sources due to pixel bleeding. Well, something has to cause that pixel bleeding right? I don't think it could be due to the artificial "corona" the LASCO uses, if it were to move out of place a little, I think it would be obvious to where it shifted but with the new "horns" showing from the top and bottom on the outside of the corona leads me to believe that whatever is causing the horns is behind the sun, and it must be huge!

It is a giant ball of heated gas being held togeather by gravity. Both of these things can do wild and amazing things. It doesn't look like anything too outragous to me.

As for the white halos above and below, maybe the sun is colder at its poles like the earth.. (yeah I know silly thing to say but it is the only thing I could think of)

edited for spelling errors.

Could you please provide data to support your claim that it is a heated ball of gas?

and I dont think it is a camera glitch from SOHO because the "halos" are here too
