I tried loading my World of Warcraft CD on my linux machine, (Linux Mint 8) No luck

Gives me an instant error on the install file...

Any suggestions?

Can I even play it on Linux?

Apparently you can run it on Linux. It will probably be kinda complicated to install.

Try this

gamegate2k.com...

I don't know about Linux Mint. I haven't tried it before.

According to the website it should run under Wine. Some people seemed to be having some technical difficulties, but most of the problems look to have been resolved.

Yep, it's free. It should be available to install from your package manager.

I was running Ubuntu 9.04 Karmic Koala and it worked pretty well under Wine, the biggest thing I noticed was a few issues with textures. The trick I've found is to take a working copy of it installed on windows and copy it over to the Linux install, then make sure wine is setup and run Wow.exe with Wine and it should load up, just make sure you got enough power in the system, it seems to be a little sluggish to start up on older systems.

I guess I'm just thick

I read the direction on "Play On Linux" and it looks to be pretty straight forward expect for one thing.

It says once I install "Play On Linux", I click Install and then find the application.

Problem is the "Application" is on a disk. Do I just put it in the CD/DVD drive and navigate to there?

I know I am a pain guys, but I really like this Linux System and want to learn so PLEASE be patient with me.

OK, I got Play On Linux installed.. But

When I put my WOW CD in, it can't find it..

The CD Drive spins up and wants to install it normally, but when I go to My Computer, WOW shows up separate from my CD Drives...

I also went to the Disk Utility but the "Mount" option is not highlighted and wont let me mount either one of them
