You can research all the candidates you want, you can vote for whoever you want, at the end of the day when the vote is tallied yours is not the one that matters. You know why? CFR, TLC, Bilderbergers, big business, etc dictate who gets into office. You people, with your meager votes and pathetic freedoms don't have a say in the leadership of the worlds super power.

Wake up people, you've been swindled and fooled and now you're pacifying yourself with thoughts of fixing the political system, revolutionaries, etc. Accept the fact this country is dead (or on life support) and try to find a way to L-E-A-V-E it.

You can say socialism does not work....however, i would point out that few, if any, nations now have a healthcare system that "works"....however there are many social healthcare systems....all of them in the industrialized western world in fact, which rank higher than ours....and ALL of them cost much less than ours. Socialism works just fine, when combined with democracy, and there are plenty socialist democracies that function as well as or better than the US for providing freedom and quality of life for their people. The US is not the happiest nation in the modern world, nor do its people enjoy the most social mobility. We are not the healthiest, nor are we the safest.

Indeed, this is not to say that the US is capitalism compared to most of western europes socialist democracy or whathaveyou....we are no more capitalist than we are democracy or socialist. And our markets are far from free. These are just the happy labels we choose for ourselves to cover our corporatist dictatorship, and our monopolistic oligarchy from the light of day.

socialism doesn't work.

see former soviet union as primary example number one.

the US is doing the exact same things they did and it will eventually end the same way.

same as the UK

they are completely bankrupt and insolvent as a nation, worse than we are.

you're about to find out just how much socialism doesn't work when medicare's unfunded liabilities come due and the baby boomers retire.

53 trillion baby, 5 times our GDP.

This nation is toast thanks to socialism.

What about the success of France's public health care system? Or it's free - or near free - college education system?

Russia was communism, not socialism, as someone pointed out earlier, many americans mistake communism, socialism, etc.

Further, yes the US IS doing what russia did...invading afghanistan. At any rate, its frivolous to state the US is socialist. Social security is a social program....but its not socialism. Its actually money funneled away from the people from government and corporate use, which is actually the opposite of socialism. Many of our programs are called socialism, when indeed they are actually subsidy for the wealthy and the elite.

Democracy is necessary for socialism, and if you dont have democracy then you dont have socialism. In socialism, THE WORKERS are supposed to have a say in where the profits go....we dont. In our nation the wealthy elite, the corporate owners, congress (millionaires all) decide what is done with our nations profit. As i stated, this is not socialism....its corporatism and peonage, as the rest of us work as wage slaves, with almost no benefit from all the taxes we pay.

You look at national healthcare, or nationalized education as socialism, and as someone profiting from your labor....its not. Its the people getting something in return for their tax dollars. And that something, education and health, are essential and vital for the stability of society, and that is EXACTLY what our tax dollars are supposed to provide.

Instead, now, our tax dollars go to fund wars in other countries so that our corporations may control their resources and reap profit....or our taxes go to control the market here so western medicine and big pharma have no competition from alternative therapies, or they go to subsidize big business like walmart, big agriculture, and big oil. Or to bail out banks. This is not socialism...its the opposite. The idea of socialism was that all the workers would benefit from gains in productivity and profit. Instead, the top 5% in our country have reaped all the profit as our GDP has doubled since 1970, while the average workers buying power has stagnated, and indeed decreased. This is the opposite of socialism.

France isn't engaged in two wars and operating a fiat dollar oil based empire.

They can afford the drag their healthcare system imparts to the economy.

We on the other hand are completely bankrupt as a nation and are about to have a Soviet style implosion.

France would be better off with free market healthcare. This is not debatable. When markets work, prices go down and quality goes up.

Medicare's unfunded liabilities are now at 74 trillion, not 53 trillion.

You really need to stop watching Fox news.

it is a new smear tactic to try to paint FDR as a failure. And to cover up the fact that once again, the county fell into economic chaos under a Republican president.

What we are seeing is history repeating itself again.

We go into an economic crisis under a Republican president. A democrat is elected to save it. And every position he tries to save it is filibustered and steam rolled by crying conservatives screaming that it will turn us into a socialist society.

It was the GOP stonewalling any welfare efforts that delayed the New Deal.

Then they try to say that it was only WWII that actually worked, not FDR. What was WWII?

Massive government spending.

Oh and for quite a while after that, as a result of stonewalling any welfare initiatives, the GOP was pretty scarce in both the Congress and the Senate.

You would think after 70 years they would learn.

Don't go to France and talk about their health care like that. If there is one thing the French people are proud of, it's their health care system. Same goes for the British too.

Of course, because our free market healthcare works so well. Oh, but we are ranked 37th, and pay the most. At any rate....its possible we are going the way of soviet desentigration, but its not because we are socialist. Its because our market was unregulated so they engaged in worthless and risky derivatives that went bust, combined with the fact that lobbying is unregulated resulting in our money being spent on all kinds of special interests and wars rather than on socially responsible and supportive legislation, and our fed is unregulated resulting in irresponsible fiscal policy.

The theory is that free market makes cost go down while quality goes up? Our cost has been going up since the 50's, and the quality has been going down since then. And the "free market" is far from free. It is one sided protectionism for trade with other countries, and its massive corporations cooperating and price fixing to keep their prices high and to keep any new competitors from emerging to challenge them.

In case you missed it, we don't have a free market healthcare system.

Hence the 74 trillion in unfunded medicare liabilities.

But lets not include medicaid, S Chip, perscription drug programs, and lord knows how much other fascist kickbacks and pay offs.

Big pharma just looted us for tens of millions in swine flu vaccine.

The only private markets in healthcare we have are for plastic surgery and lasik eye treatment.

The reason why we are paying so much for healthcare right now is because our system is entirely socialist! Only we don't have price controls and rationing like the euros do - hence why costs are so high.

Just so I can either be with it or not, has this post evolved or are we still talking bout people need to redirect their anger inward towards ourselves?

Well I commend your thoughts here watukno, take into consideration that there will always be scapegoats in society. These voters dont want to hold themselves accountable and thats it.

Tell them to stop complaining, get up and vote and push for newer independent candidates and they tell you the "system is rigged and controlled". This is one of the scapegoats they use to excuse the fact that they themselves either voted wrong or that they just need to blame somebody else.

To those that think this government is completely rigged...

That is quite the defeatist attitude. If you believe that your vote does not count, and you already have consigned yourself to failure, how do you think that you could possibly win an armed revolution?

All I am saying is, if you really want a revolution in this country, first have a political revolution. Tell your friends, tell your family, tell everyone, this time they all get voted out, this time new people will be voted for, this time the people will have a voice.

If you don't vote, well, I don't know why you would complain about politics. If you couldn't bother yourself to go vote in the first place, you don't want that voice.

Personal responsibility means that it is your and my fault that these people get elected.

I voted for Obama, that means that any action that Obama takes is partially my fault. I researched him, I should know what he stood for. So if Obama does something that is bad for this country, part of the blame there belongs to me.

If you do want change, if you do want this government to be less greedy, less corrupt, stop voting for people that you know are corrupt.

However. It is the people of the United States that continue to vote in these career criminals and so the blame lay squarely on the American Voter.

So the anger and the blame lies entirely on the people of the United States. If the people took responsibility for their own votes and actions we would not be in the mess we are in now.

I wish I could give you a thousand stars for your post.

As I see it, most American's are too busy watching, "the biggest loser, dancing with the stars and reading twilight or some other entertaining fluff". Most do not watch the Senate or Congressional Channel, watch their rep vote and than call or email them and tell them "Hey, I just saw you vote this way what's up? (I do).

Now, people can vote and vote smart BUT and this is a big but.

Until we do away with all politicians being allowed to take "campaign contributions" where do you think their loyalities are gonna lie?

Joe Blow, common man - makes $30.00 an hour and contributes $100. to Mr. Big Politicians

or

The ABC Company that contributes $1,000,000. to the same politician.

Read David Sirota's "Hostile Takeover"...............Americans have allowed the large corporations to take over our government.

America is run by and for the large Corporations.

Read my location.

Theres enough for everyone, but some people just want to sit down at the table (the CEO's & ruling elite) and cut themselves 3/4 a piece of the pie and leave the other 1/4th pie for everyone else to fight over.

and people just don't realize it.

The way our entire system is run is ludicris. In America, a guy that can shoot a little white ball in a hole the first time is worth hundreds of millions of dollars yet most people cannot see giving teachers, the guy at McDonalds who gets you your coffee and breakfast McMuffin in record time or the person who you hand your baby over too don't make enough to pay the rent.

Until people wake up and demand things become more equalized things are only going to get screwier.

We bailed out the big financial institutions (I run reports for, don't kid yourself, they know where every penny goes if I'm off by a few pennies I would hear about it).

good opening post, got my blood boiling again and it's so cold where I am I needed a good warm up

Oh, and U2U me if you have a job opening, my job is being outsourced to "Team India". I'm good in Excel (Financial Reports) computer savy and a hard worker.

Socialism is not a bad word.

What we have is a Corporate Dictatorship. Have for a long time.

America is run by and for the large corporations and wait, within another 10 years more of us (that want to work) will be out of work (thanks India and China) and more of us will not have quality health care.

Read David Sirota's book, Hostile Takeover and Pigs At the Trough by Arianna Huffington.

You're right, our politicians have a choice to make, they can listen to Joe Blow who donates $100.00 to their campaign fund, or Corporation X who donates $100,000.00 to their campaign fund. Now while Joe Blow is able to actually vote for the politician and Corporation X being a corporation has no right to vote, who do you think the politician is going to listen to.

Money talks and BS walks I imagine is the motto at the capital.

It's not right and it's damn time that Americans change this country for what they want it to be instead of just letting these politician criminals do whatever they want. We do have the ultimate power. We can still vote them out of office. No amount of money can change that fact. We the People still have the vote. It is time we use that vote to send the message.
