SANAA, Yemen -- In its strongest language yet, Yemen's government declared Thursday that there are limits to its military cooperation with the United States, warning that any direct U.S. action in this impoverished Middle East nation could bolster the popularity of Islamic militants.
"If there is direct intervention by the United States, it will strengthen al-Qaeda," warned Rashad al-Alimi, Yemen's deputy prime minister for security and defense. "We cannot accept any foreign troops on Yemeni territory."The statement underscored the rising concern among Yemen's leadership of a domestic backlash that could politically weaken the government and foment more instability. In recent days, top Yemeni officials have publicly downplayed their growing ties to Washington, fearing they will be perceived by their opponents as weak and beholden to the United States.

They are not "ghosts" for the most part. Hey, I know that any and all terrorist attacks are attributed, incorrectly, to alqaeda, but they ARE essentially invading Yemen with no regard to the wants of Yemeni citizens.
I agree with the OP. If allied troops go into Yemen, it'll be a tipping point for this war. The motivatinos of the military industrial complex will have become too transparent.
The US embassy in Yemen reopened Tuesday after a two-day closure prompted by Al-Qaeda threats as US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton warned unrest in the Arab country is a threat to global stability.
Two al-Qaeda operatives at least were killed and three injured on Monday January 4th, when anti-terror Yemeni forces clashed with an Al-Qaeda cell in Arhab area, about 40-50 km east of the capital Sana'a.
The cell is believed to have been on its way to implement their previous threats against US and UK embassies in Sana'a, which all closed at the beginning of the week
