Whats the big deal is a picture of a body. We all have one..

The big deal is that some people don't want just anyone to see them naked.

So when they screen children with this, how is this not child porn?

No doubt the images can be saved as "evidence", most likely automatically. If you had these images on your hard drive, you'd be arrested. If you think that merely flipping the colors would protect you, you'd most likely be very wrong.

On the positive side, though, at least we have every teen boy's dream: real x-ray vision!

Frisking is a common technique for screening people getting on a plane. It is arguably just as intrusive to have some guard frisking your body as it is for some guard to see an image of it.

How would that image have caught the underwear bomber? Does that device sniff for chemicals and search the underwear for bombs? It seems to me that image implies someone is going to use a gun. How will that find explosives?

And seeing as the last incident could have been stopped using existing security features who really thinks this will make you safer? Its an illusion. Forget the invasion of privacy angle this is purely money wasted for a sense of security that doesnt exist. We make more enemies everyday and make travel a greater hassle and still proclaim were doing the right thing. All of it seems to me, to be a victory for terrorists. this is all a result of paranoa and fear which of course is exactly the climate the terorists like to spread.

Perhaps we should look at following the regulations we have in place and enforcing them effectively before wasting money on technology that wont stop a thing.

What! you mean I can find naked pictures of people on the internet?

Naked pictures of blue people that are just digital images and not even clear? I'm pretty sure I would go else where to look at pictures and get my jollies.

Again I say the first post should be edited because only the top one is what they would see.

Everyone agreeing to this.

A) Has not read 1984
B) Has no idea what freedom is
C) Think being implanted with a chip is a good idea
D) Should not be allowed to procreate-alright I may have gone too far
E) Have stock in these security measures
F) Should learn something about history
G) I could go on but I should just make a list of everyone that agrees and call DHS and let them know to start the CHIPPING WITH YOU!-possibly over board

God, wake up!

Purplemer, please U2U me some naked pictures of yourself. You clearly don't care that people have them. So, after I'm done looking at them, I'm just going to send them to your co-workers. I'm sure that you still won't mind, you're that comfortable with your body. Who else can I send them to?

If any journalists are reading this thread, ask those responsible for implementing these scanners including Gordon Brown and Obama
if they would kindly step into one, get scanned and publish the pictures if they are not a privacy issue !!!

I believe it was here on ATS, but I saw an article yesterday saying that in the UK they're not allowed to use these scanners, until the law is changed, because the images are considered child porn under UK law.

I think the real travesty is some poor screener making minimum wage having to look at Rosie O'donnell walk through their scanner!

A travesty

Exactly...and to think some of you guys are ok with this type of thing?

And to the person who said "it's the way technology is going and you can't do anything about it"...you are part of the reason our society is going to crap. Because you allow things like this to happen.

All you " I am comfortable with my body/ I like to be naked " posters
get on my nerves.
This is an unacceptable , gross invasion of our human rights.
I suppose you wouldn't mind if we had to actually strip naked, and then have a refreshing shower afterwards, while being herded about by uniforms with guns.
Nazi Germany anyone ???

Whole generations that have never had to fight for a "damn thing". Just let it all happen. "It's the way things are going"

Profile the dirtbags that are trying to pull this crap off!

Change the color of the skin to blue, make the body that of an alien and American society will not be offended. In the movie Avatar the world has seen breasts where no breasts were allowed before. Silly humans and your taboos. Dog teats are OK but not those of a woman, that is just plain silly.

The irony there is just... lol wow I don't know. I suppose its a decency thing for this website and good on em but it does make a good point about the nature of the images. lol

My doctor and a nurse saw me completely nude just yesterday. I bet they see naked people of all ages an a daily basis.

I gave a full body massage to a neighbour on the weekend and several people saw her naked. Nobody cared.....

I examined a friends testicle a few weeks ago because of pain and swelling.
It seemed to be a lump near the vas deferens so he was off to see his doctor a couple days later.
No embarrassment for either of us in that situation either.

Not every situation of viewing the human body is sexual, I'd have no problem being scanned. It seems better than a pat down and the scanner is certainly less invasive than a strip search.
