My thoughts exactly. The media has reported that employers are hiring specialist firms to check out what their employees are up to sites like
Facebook, and people have been fired or lost medical benefits for what they post there. If employers are doing this, then I'm sure governments are
doing the same. It's quite a lengthy topic on its own, but I recently read something interesting on the control of the electronic media. Surprisngly
it was in a book on the Australian Aborigines titled: "Terra Nullius" by Sven Lindqvist. He describes the American Pine Gap base in Alice
Springs:
"Alice is in permanent contact with outer space and the world metropolises. This remote spot in the desert is part of an international network that
monitors all the satellite conversations, faxes and emails between the cities of the world. The American base for eletronic espionage at Pine Gap has
more than a dozen monitoring globes, which since 1970 have been picking up satellite signals from radio transmitters, telephones and radar all over
the world. If a sigh is heard over a mobile phone anywhere on earth, it will be heard in Alice Springs." (p. 43)
Now how many people on ATS know that?
Well let's give a big Hello to the guys at Pine Gap, who can now focus on real crime instead of people with a virus that doesn't spread through
casual contact, and is otherwise preventable.
PS. I just saw that there are older threads on Pine Gap on ATS. Also see
www.apfn.org... . This mentions similar bases, including
one at Krugersdorp in South Africa, which has a US "consular staff" of over 1000 people.
