Here's what comes to mind:

Media controls information. That's how they push their propaganda and cover up government abuse/atrocities.

Anyway, I was re-reading Brave New World but couldn't really relate their form of control to our society's form of control.

Bottom line, how are we controlled???

Seeing as how you've already read Brave New World might I suggest going a step further and reading Huxley's Brave New World Revisited?

Huxley covers a bit more about how he viewed the "control" applications at work during his day and age...a primer for how we are currently entrenched in the various models of psycho-social manipulation today.

*edit - Big Brother demands spell check.

We are controlled in every sense. Reason being we believe we are controlled. Well, i do not. Just forget everything and rebuild yourself with an open mind. that always works if done correctly, if not you might turn crazy. But, all crazy minds are genuis in one sense or another. or at least the crazies that took this path.

The difference between science and the media/politics/religion is that of those four institutions - only one is bound irrevocably to a pursuit of the objective truth about our universe which is utterly immutable and unalterable by the whim of man. Science. And this is evident because Science works. It advances our understanding of the universe, and has revealed more objective and verifiable truth to mankind than any other institution. And from that, we develop and manufacture new technologies that continually shape our society and culture in an ever accelerating march forward.

If you refuse to acknowledge the understanding that Science reveals in favor of your favorite "Truthipinion" - that's fine. But doing so disengages you from the technological advances that understanding brings and from which shape our objective reality - in which your subjective perception is dependent upon.
