Um, before everyone gets too carried away with ridiculing the notion of CIA conventions, many such events do indeed take place.
Not really ...
(EXAMPLE) Counter Intelligence Symposium
afcea to my knowledge isn't the CIA.
Or this example.
A symposium on Polish Cold War asset isn't a "convention" ... not splitting hairs, it just isn't.
Or something similar to this one.
Again, to my knowledge, SIFMA isn't CIA.
And there presumably isn't a "CIA spy convention" where the gym manager is invited to hear about a possible terror attack in NYC. Maybe the guy
went to one of those security symposiums or lectures, and either misunderstood or embellished a smidgen.
Either way, I just can't see them all with umbrella drinks at the Reno Nugget, listening to "three jacks and a jill" and yakkin' terrorism with
Phil from the gym ... but I've been wrong before.
