Last year's youtubeporn raid was pretty lulzy, it spawned the meme. "I'm 12 and what is this?"

Last year the raid caused youtube to shut down for several hours and made mainstream news.

This year I don't see much happening so I don't think it will be much excitement, though I have been wrong many times before.

YouTube shut down? I don't even remember that, so I must have been gone at the time. There's less than 10 minutes left now, so I wonder if the same will happen this time or not.

I believe they were saying 2PM EST yesterday... I may be wrong, though.

/b/ is probably the worst. There is just too much crap and garbage, it screams of disinformation and hidden agenda. A rapid course in stupidity that site is.

free "Naked Flesh" seems to be so popular on the internet these days, it is actually nice that youtube is free from this .

Youtube is like a lost tropical island that is still free from total nudity and hardcore porn.

And yes, a porn free site can be a good thing sometimes.

Here's an article from last year's attack. I don't think this year's was nearly as widespread or manned as last years' though. I personally think it's in very poor taste, for the record.

What's the real point? All they are going to do is infuriate the youtube powers who will maybe roll in some draconian measures, maybe kids in schools (if they are even allowed to use youtube clips for their research etc) may loose that option cos the schools may think it's not worth the risk.

Just seems a bit lame really if it's some sort of protest, if it's just vandalism well that's also lame. - They are not likely to make any friends out side of their group.

There is no point to what anonymous does other than doing things for the lulz.

It was fun to f#ck with scientology, so it was done. It was fun to flood Youtube with porn pretending to be something else people would watch, so it was done. The consequences are barely, if ever, thought through.

If the consequences of something anonymous does aren't favorable, anonymous will use that as a reason for its next raid or attack. Anonymous is a perpetual motion trolling machine.

Just because some people might agree or identify themselves with a particular raid or attack, don't think for a minute that there is a noble agenda. Anonymous does not care. Anonymous will do whatever it feels like, for the lulz.

To everyone suggesting that there should be a separate, more 'professional', internet I respectfully think that is an incredibly stupid idea.

The PTB, the military, would love to implement a new internet, with tighter regulations and more control. They're in fact working on it as we speak. Have you forgotten about the Pentagon's Information Operation Roadmap?

If you think for a minute that the current internet and a new more controlled internet would run side-by-side, you are seriously deluding yourselves. People like to think that it's them that 'make' the internet work and keep going. Most of the content is indeed user generated, but guess who owns the infrastructure. I'll give you a hint: it's not the users.

I truly believe that if free societies are going to have a future, it's because of an uncensored and uncontrolled internet, that will continue to provide all sorts of information. Because I don't know if you've noticed, but the old media (print, TV) have long ago stopped giving you the news and reporting the facts, and there is no sign that it will change anytime soon.

Can you guess what will happen when those same people who control the old media get to completely control the internet?

Those things are nothing new. Wasn't it a punishment in some ancient culture for a woman to be raped by monkeys or something. I think I saw this in the rome series. Could be completely made up but the point is the same. We've always had our share of the pervs.

Before all, I have to admit that I DO browse 4chan... Very regularly.
The best thing to say is that this raid is a terribely immature thing. And that is the very reason they're doing it. 4chan follows no logic, they just do what seems to be funny, and get bored, then do something else.
And no, it is not controlled by any power. Not even moot (the admin) controls 4chan. The day the whole internet will be controlled by TPTB, 4chan will remain as the one last free place.

If there was one thing to understand about 4chan, it is that the members are these guys you see everyday yet never notice. The shy guys, the lonely guys etc. 4chan is a way for them to get rid of these huge amount of frustration they get in their everyday life. They are the ones abandonned by our society, or rather by the society of the young ones, the children that were made fun of at school, the ones that had no girlfriend (being 25 years old and having never kissed a girl is not uncommon on 4chan), the ones that were never invited to any party etc.
So, please, forgive them. They're just taking the revenge they deserve.
