Food and Health Conspiracies: What are you eating?

What are you eating? How is it made?

While I like UFO videos as much as the next ATS member, and I like reading about climate change and celestial dangers, I stumbled upon something that concerns me even more.

Food is our fuel. Like gas is fuel for our cars, food fuels our bodies. You can always buy new parts for your car, but until technology proves otherwise, we only have ONE body.

But while we question the fuss on gas and oil, do you ever question where YOUR fuel comes from?

We, collectively.... are being duped.
Where does it come from? How is it produced? You would be amazed, and probably sickened.

Approximately 10 billion animals (chickens, cattle, hogs, ducks, turkeys, lambs and sheep) are raised and killed in the US annually. Nearly all of them are raised on factory farms under inhumane conditions. These industrial farms are also dangerous for their workers, pollute surrounding communities, are unsafe to our food system and contribute significantly to global warming.

Source:Food Inc.

Sounds like everyone is losing this deal, doesnt it? The animals, us..even the workers! But wait...the guys at the top arent losing anything. They are GAINING. Billions.
Just like big business runs the Oil racket, they run the food industry also.

It seems like that are many brands out there, but there arent. Most food comes from only a few sources. Look at CONAGRA foods.
Con Agra product list
This does not include the generic "store brands" they also produce. They are one of only a few.

Tyson pretty much runs the meat industry. They are a monopoly, that employs many private farmers as "Tyson family Farmers". Thats a cutesy, and wholesome name. The private farmers are usually forced to upgrade, to hold more livestock. If they refuse to upgrade, then their contracts are dropped. Their already meager living, taken away.
Some reading on Contract farming

Corny as it may sound......
Corn seems to rule our crop system. If you walk into a grocery store right now, a good percentage will have corn additives.
Heres an interesting list:You are screwed if you have a corn allergy
High fructose corn syrup is one of the largest contributers to American Obesity. Yet you can find it, disguised by many other names, in a large number of foods.

But, I only eat the healthy stuff!!
As I am sure you have noticed, there has been a recent surge in advertising the healthy attributes of popular food.
"0 trans fats!"
"14 grams of fiber"
"20 grams of whole wheat grains"
These attributes do little for you if there are laden with sugar as well. There are some angry mothers out there and rightfully so.

As a society, do you want to be remembered as someone who could be bought and sold?
We are being lied to about what we eat. This should be a primary concern to ALL of us, yet it isnt.
I have quite alot of research done on the subject, and plan to post alot more on this thread.

But first, Id like to hear what you may know about the secrets of our food production.

Do you know what you eat?

Do you care?

Should there be laws, forcing companies to tell the truth?

What do you say, my fellow ATS'ers?

hi. i like your topic.

also, i dont think our food industry is to blame for our allergies and sensitivities which we were born with. i am lactose intolerant and dont eat "oh so great beneficial-bacteria-strengthened yogurts" they advertise on TV 24/7 which dont say people with milk allergy shouldnt eat it. but i think they shouldnt be held liable for people not knowing their own condition. they do say on packages what contains what. yes much of their overproduced sh*t contains tons of sugar, but they are required to indicate how much of it in the product. and they do. so they arent lying in that an extent that is. i mean so called "natural flavors" listed in the ingredients arent good for you. some garbage isnt even required to be listed.

Thank you!

I agree. they do list ingredients.
But how many people actually know what those chemical names are? Most people would look for "sugar", not some chemical derivitive.
Its not lying...per se. It's disguising. It's deceptive.

Appalling, isn't it? What's a girl to do? I had a friend who, while working on an MBA, had to "go work" at a large chicken place (don't know what you call them) for three or four weeks. It literally made him sick, and when he returned he made us all listen to his stories, and vow never to eat chicken again. He certainly didn't. To this day I still have some of the images he described in my head. Not pretty.

But again, much of this comes down to the FDA, and consumer savvy.
Both of which are most often inadequate.

We would do well to go back to community based foods. Farmer's markets, co-ops and the like. I would love to grow my own food, but I don't have time, and history has proven, I'm not very good at it.

I know what you mean!!

I kill houseplants.....growing my own food would be a disaster.

But the farmer's THERES an option.

you can blame the pharmaceutical companies for the allergies, giving vaccines to the mases causing our immune systems to attack itself.if you think the food is bad now just wait until the pharma corporations who have hi-jacked codex alimentarius really start to throw their weight around allowing labelled organic food to be 25% contaminated with gm products and other chemicals and still being called organic. then trying to grow your own foods having to buy their genetically modified seeds with the suicide gene, so that the crop doesn`t reproduce having to buy more dodgy seeds from big pharma.soon you wont know what is what anymore apart from it`s fake.why do we have to call natural food organic as is if it was created on some other planet.we are heading into a unchartered world messing with the thousands of living organisms which have lived in harmony with our bodies for a millenia, thus protecting us from illness. we`re coming into a new age of sickness and that is exactly what big pharma wants, everyone sick and everyone on their drugs from cradle to the grave.

Sometimes, I feel the same way.
Like it's such an endless tunnel of lies, that there is no way out.

Have we really come to that point? Everything is BS?
