Iran says foreign nationals among protest detainees

news.yahoo.com

Iran has arrested several foreign nationals in bloody anti-government protests last week that left at least eight people dead, Intelligence Minister Heydar Moslehi said on Monday.

"Some of the detainees are foreign nationals pursuing propaganda and psychological warfare," Moslehi said on state television.

"They had entered Iran only two days before Ashura. Their cameras and equipment have been seized," he added, without specifying how many had been arrested or their nationality.

One of the foreigners arrested was an Iran-based Syrian journalist working for Dubai TV and a pro-government website Rajanews said a "British citizen, who was carrying his passport, was arrested while attacking mourners... in central Tehran."

Iran's foreign ministry could not confirm the Rajanews report.

French researcher Clotilde Reiss, 24, was arrested in late June and put on trial for allegedly taking part in protests that followed the disputed re-election of President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad.

She was freed on bail in August and has since been staying at the French embassy awaiting the outcome of her case.

If true this raises serious questions pertaining what were "foreign citizens" doing among protesters at the time of violence?

There is no doubt in my mind that at the very least the United States, the United Kingdom and Israel are funding and helping seditious elements both inside and outside of Iran try to topple the regime.

We know for a fact that at least four hundred million dollars was allotted for this by the U.S. Congress two years ago at President Bush’s request.

That’s the overt money given to the CIA for the task as a matter of public record. There is no telling how much covert money the CIA might be investing from proceeds from its black operations to that cause.

Iranian exiles dating back to the Shah of Iran’s regime are definitely involved and the Prince the Shah’s son has been pressing flesh for months and months now to arrange for funds and equipment and personnel to effect the situation in Iran too.

Frankly there is so much foreign involvement in Iran’s political unrest I am surprised they actually found some genuine Iranians during their arrests!

But hey anything that distracts Americans from being outraged about the corruption and fraud taking place within our own government and our own dismal economy and skyrocketing unemployment is a good thing.

We might not have paychecks, homes or anything to look forward to other than good old national pride! After all we sure have done a bang up job at winning the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan!
