Obviously this is pointed at anyone in particular. These are things everyone is guilty of.

Rant on:

Huxley was right.

We live in times of terror and sensationalism.
Everything is blown out of proportions much like every dilemna of a teenagers life.
Scandals and drama are engineered to sway the anger of the masses.

Over the last year alone:
Swine Flu will kill you!
Swine Flu Vaccines will kill you!
Evil Liberals want to enslave you!
Evil Conservatives want to enslave you!
Evil Religions want to enslave you!
Evil Atheists want to enslave you!
Evil Corporations want to enslave you!
The Government is Fascist!
The Government is Communist/Socialist!
The Government is too impotent to do any good!
The Government is Incompetent!
The Government is too powerful and controls everything!
The Government is too sinister and skilled to god-like proportions!
The End of the World is happening!
The Eng of the world was delayed till tomorrow!
Your Neighbors are spying on you!
Your Government is spying on you!
Evil terrorists are spying on you!
Your Computer is spying on you!
Evil ghosts in your house are watching you pee!
This Evil Agenda!
That Evil Agenda!
Companies want you infertile!
Evil Illegal Aliens want your job!
Evil Illegal Aliens get better health care than you!
Evil Aliens want to poke your happy zones!
Time Travellers want to destroy the world!
Time Travellers want to help because all the above is true!
I don't vote because it's already determined!
They're ALL CORRUPT!
Indoctrination!
Brainwashing!

And on and on.

It is not just on this site, it is everywhere in western culture. It is so prevalent and so pernicious anymore as to be on every television show, every news cast. Every coffee shop conversation.
This society demonizes virtue. It used to be that an "Intellectual" was someone who understood the problems and had ideas how to effectively handle them. Now an "Intellectual" is a vaudvillian monster, twirling his mustache while tieing virgins to railroad tracks.
It used to be the Elite was what everyone respected and aspired for. It meant the pinnacle of skill in whatever trade. Now it just means someone with a lot of money and only ever wants more. More money, more power. The Elite are now just evil overlords. All the while the Elites are demonized. They are near worshipped because they also call themselves "Capitalists".

Now it is virtuous to be stupid. It is virtuous to be ignorant. It is virtuous to be mediocre.
People who aspire to make their own clothing are looked down on. People who buy trash clothing at Walmart are "American heros for doing what it takes to get by.".
People who make their own food instead of going to McDonalds are Elitists. People who wish to make things by their own hands are somehow marginalized in any number of ways.
Meanwhile skills are being lost in every field. We are all becoming more dependant on others.

We have all, long ago, fallen from grace and sold our integrity and identity so we can watch syndicated drivel on TV. A more convenient life. So we don't have to take responsibility.
So we can bleat like cowards and sheep while whining that it's someone elses fault we are being led to the fleecer and slaughterhouses of war.

So I suggest this:
Next time the inclination to whine about injustices come to mind. Next time the fear creeps in while watching a commentator.
Ask yourselves: What have I done to help this travesty occur?

You have to get out of that coutch butt-rutt and out of that computer chair's nice butt moulding comfort.
And LEARN.
Volunteer at charity construction projects: So you can learn how to make a house.
Get involved with public gardens: So you can learn how to grow food with maximum yield.
Enroll in classes, even if you don't like the subject.
The more you learn the more valuable of a person you are.

Stop with the basement science|economics|psychology|engineering and learn the real stuff. If you have a theory EXPERIMENT and proove it.

Stop being afraid to admit being wrong. Being wrong allows one to learn.

Get involved. Do what it takes to get involved.
Learn the issues. Learn what influences the issues. STUDY THEM.
To study means more than simply looking at two articles and listening to NPR or Fox or MSNBC.

The only way things will improve is if we collectively take responsibility and get involved.

So please: Stop wasting life by cowering from every shadow or comment made. Separate your belief from what you know as fact. Learn to tell the two apart. Understand that an enducated reply is infinitly more valuable than a reactionary "Me-Too!" chest thump reply.

Engage life already. Show the world the power of rational well phrased thought. Engage your community. Help everyone around you.
Learn.
Learn.
Learn.

Make that contract with yourself and create a meaningful existence.

Otherwise, you are already that which is the most beneficial to those who actually want to profit by oppression. There will be no way out. It will define your existence until the day you die.

Rant off.

Let's be clear about one thing.

There are grains of truth in every statement you posted.

It's how we process that information and react to it, that counts.

Exactly. Exactly. people nowadays (guilty) are to afraid and STUPID to stand up for what they believe. we are more content with having everything done for us that we are forgetting how to do them ourselves. perhaps the whole media uproar about illegal aliens is a call for help. A call for us lazy americans to get off our a**es and LEARN, MOVE, GO TO COLLEGE, and, most importantly, GET A JOB!

elitists are peope who do take time to learn, to work by hand. yet they are shunned.

WHY

The problem is that we have people who claim they are fighting for the better of the general population, but in reality have no idea what they are doing.

It is many of the same people who make these claims who I feel would be doing the very same actions if in another mans shoes.

LocoHombre said it well also. There are very many lazy people. The so called "elite" are smart. Not a godly smart, just smart. They live a life many would dream of having, yet since they do not all we hear is rant and insults.

Like any group of individuals, there are good and bad. So I am not saying every rich or every poor person needs to be shunned, but there will always be some that do. What I find a shame is that the rich are all grouped into one evil category when (IMO) that is not the case.

You lost me at trash clothing from Wal-Mart. Let's bring on the teenage drama. I don't care to drive myself poor to wear "name brand" clothes to show off to people.

Other than that, when I think elitist, I think of someone who thinks they are better than everyone else. Other than that, I agree with pretty much the rest of the post.

I would like to ask a question though, what degree/license did the first people have when they started making houses/boats/different inventions/etc.. It really irks me that people think you have to be smart, go to college, or just any excuse really as to why they can't do something.

Another thing I'd like to mention is the fact that we are here! Humans are here! I wonder if I'm the only person that has questioned the fact that we're here after so many thousands of years and how many of those years did humans have some kind of government dependance. For most of the history of the world, humans had to do something to survive, had to WORK, had to ENGAGE, ya know, just had to something. I really hate the mindset of a lot people all over the world in this day and age that think they don't have to or can't do anything.

Aye, nobody should be shunned. I think the events that lead to the one being wealthy and the other poor should be learned from.

But that leads to another aspect: Understanding history.
Getting out of a cycle.

Much like the person who keeps wasting money on movies, video games, clubbing and booze. Then whines and complains that they can't make rent.

Avoidance of responsibility IMO makes people ignore the past.

The key of everything is personal responsibility and accountability. Not to a jury of peers (In this case). But to ideals.

We are nothing if we cannot be that which we profess to live.

The bit about walmart was meant more for convenience mixed with the concept of quantity over quality. Walmart clothes are generally not regarded as even well made let alone quality. Whereas home made clothes tend to be less 'stylish' but (generalization alert) more rugged/last longer.

The rest is what worries me. We no longer really have to struggle to survive-special areas such as ethopia are provided for by other nations-instead of just moving somewhere else. And no: That is not meant to trivialize the problems rampant.

In the west, most have lost the skills to survive. If some event DID happen where we lost the internet, and power etc.. How many millions would die in the first month?

Areas that are more agricultural like China would fair much better. They are not dependant nearly so much on creature comforts as the west.

The old saying of 'you can't strengthen the weak by weakening the strong' has never been more apparent than in today's overly pop-culturally saturated world.

I agree with you fully, nice post.

This is a great thread I love it thank you for your rant!!!! It is truly that simple if we all followed this the world would be better that is for sure. They rule us using fear all of us we should take it away from them and they will have nothing but the facts to stick to.

I agree with what you are saying from an ideological point of view, but the fact of the matter is it's so easy to get by mooching off others or putting in minimal effort that it just doesn't seem worth it.
Our society is based on entitlement at minimal cost. If there is a problem, the government will do it for you. Sign up to a system, then exploit the hell out of it, cause who cares? Why do you think people are flocking to western nations? They want a part of it too.
I'm afraid that sooner or later a very harsh reality is going to hit and we are going to be left with a lot less than what we have now.

Another saying: The smallest stone still makes a ripple.
If everyone reading this chose to make the change in themselves. Then lead by example to those they know. The ideology would spread.
The cornerstone is first changing oneself. Then showing it to close friends and family.

It can ripple. Or, the stone can simply sink. That is where personal accountability and a personal sense of responsibility comes in.

If you want the world to change: Work to change it.

Yes, be the change you want to be in the world. Maybe it would make a difference. However, the apathetic tendencies and relentless squawking about trivial matters are already too much to bear for many.
Two parents working, new debts where it's not the amount of years but the amount of generations being given before repayment, and powerlessness in governmenal, social, and educational have wounded western psyche in a detrimental way.
It's just....a huge mountain of incentives for little amount of work is something that is not in our nature to abandon.
Maybe you're right. Many people on this site are, by definition, at least trying to do something, which is indeed a step in the right direction.

haha "pokes my happy zones"?

bring on the aliens!

You are right with your post however in the exact same post you are guilty of sensationalising..

There's nothing evil about sensationalising something it just makes it more interesting, the trick is simply not to believe everything you hear.

How does that quote go? "Believe none of what you hear and half of what you see" i think my grandad said that to me. He was hit by a bus...

naa he wasn't i sensationalised my story ooops

The point is actually about being involved and always striving to learn. The sensationalization is merely a symptom of the rampant apathy. Nobody takes notice of a news article unless it is some sort of vicarious pain or fear.

The apathy and sense of powerlessness is what must be fought.

I humbly beg to differ. I don't like being told something is much bigger than it really is, or lied to in anyway. I don't need another newscaster turning fact into panic, for the sake of RATINGS

Hmmmm....

I seem to remember this huge event that happened on September 11th 2001 that still needs to be investigated to this day.

An event so huge that it changed the course of the world.

I just want the truth to become common knowledge amongst the American People... and the truth is that the official story is false.

If we don't get to the bottom of the truth in regards to 9/11... Then I don't care how useful you are to society..... because the next problem we have here in America might come in the form of a nuclear weapon, and then it might be blamed on another country.

The fact of the matter is this...

WE ARE AT WAR.

I've read this post and I agree with what has been said.

BUT, Not everyone is lazy. People do work. They barter their time for $$ per week or month. You take your money and either save it or spend it or a combination of both. This is no different than when people use to barter their skills, crops, eggs, chickens, horses, pigs, hand made clothing for something someone else is offering. HOWEVER, cheap goods run rampant through your local stores (Wally World, Target, Miejer...etc.)

As for education, it does seem like everything requires a college education today which I don't think is true. I think its a great big scam. Student Loand debates anyone?

In a world catastrophe, even China's major cities will suffer just like all large cities in the world where people DON'T live off of the land or have survival skills.

Who the hell said we all need to be Daniel Boone in today's day and age? Systematic collapse of the world as we know it that would bring about the destruction of the members of the human race who CAN'T fend for themselves seems like a lot of Fear Mongering.

Those who can, will survive and prosper. Those who can't, will prey on those who can. It's called thievery and its been around for along time. That doesn't make it right, just that it's been around for awhile.
