Well, once again the Americans have displeased the French. The president doesn't like us.... again.... after a radical shift in who the president was.... greeeeaat.

Seems the US can't make France happy.

www.ft.com...

But the French president has since clashed with his US counterpart on a series of issues, raising the question of whether Mr Sarkozy is reverting to the more Gaullist, anti-American posture of his predecessor, Jacques Chirac.

“He has now shifted from a pro-Bush position to an anti-Obama position,” said Jean-Christophe Cambadélis, international affairs spokesman for the opposition Socialists. “Neither France nor the western world have anything to gain from Barack Obama’s failure. It seems as if the president is betting on this failure, which isolates France in Europe.”

So, France always seems, in my opinion, ahead of the game and on top of things. They called out Bush under the last guy, now this guy (a pro bush but none the less...) is calling out Obama. All and all France seems to always be way ahead of things, from power management, to fusion research, to political decisions, to where to send their troops. Read on, and you'll see France is no longer sending more troops to Afghanistan. The US may have military power, but it seems to always be a step behind in other things these days.

Simple !?

France is an old power, with ties throughout the muslim world.
They still maintain warm relationships with a lot of there former colonies.

So they are usually up to date and because of there long existing ties en respect, they are influennce is big enough to walk there one path in the world.

The Us is not. They rely on intell. from the ties made possible, by economic tyrany or partnership. The youthfull Us lacks the respect, the elderly get. And do to their actions in the past. Theye'l probably will never earn the respect, they want.

But it's only an opinion.

Peace.

Here is what the Ambassador to France said about the relationship in early December.

What do you think of the French-US relationship today, and how do you think Presidents Obama and Sarkozy can work together on different issues from economic recovery to NATO efforts in Afghanistan?

The U.S.-French relationship today is outstanding, with cooperation on all levels. France is one of our oldest allies. Exchanges on all levels – cultural, commercial, and political – are extremely important. We do $1.2 billion in trade, investment, and affiliate sales revenues a day between the two countries. Moreover, President Obama regards France as a key ally in almost all the major issues that he is managing today. The fact that he visited France two times in his first five months as President provides the proof. France is either leading or a close partner on the issues of Afghanistan, Pakistan, Iran, the Middle East Peace Process, climate change, and the financial crisis. The two Presidents speak to each other regularly by telephone, and are both men of action who work well together.

France is one of the oldest cultures and civilized societies on the face of the Earth. They've fought countless bloody and destructive wars on THEIR SOIL! They helped the US win the Revolutionary War. To say the French don't have their # together is arrogant, insulting, and completely and utterly ignorant to the facts of history. You know how many times America has been invaded by a major world superpower in our short little measly 250+ year existence? NOT ONCE! I wonder how America would compare to France if we ever had to fight a power like Germany or Russia in our backyard. Have you ever thought that because of it's long history of war they just might be a little tired of it? Maybe the French see how evil, terrifying, and destructive war is first hand. Something the average America is CLUELESS about!

The French do not hate their country. They hate their government. Much of the French are as displeased with their government and leaders as we are. And another thing..........Parisians are hardly representative of the overall people of France. That's like saying LA or NYC represents your fellow Americans. French come from all socioeconomic, political, and culture backgrounds. Not all are unemployed rioters living in the city of Paris.

And I agree......France, and Europe in general seems to be so far ahead in many areas of technology and medicine. Even though European specifically French society has its problems France is a great country and if I were French I would be proud of my country and my history and my culture. The French are tough people and when they need to will rise up and fight. Afterall who the hell do you think was chopping off heads before we were shooting redcoats? I'd side with the French way before I'd ever side with the British. Our cozy, buddy buddy relationship that has existed with the British post Revolutionary War is disgusting.

You have to know french tradition. It is tradition to riot. it's simply the way they do things. No, they're not morally high nor respectable in any way. But when it comes to survival and contingency, morals rarely get you out of anything.

The fact is the French have their history of war scattered everywhere. From rusting German panzers, to ww1 bullets in the dirt, to Napoleonic cannons laying around. All the way back to roman arches inscribed with pictures of slaughter. Perhaps if America had the ruins of war laying all around them, they'd understand. I'm American and the only taste of war I've had is in books and paintball. But from that alone I can see the evils of it. That said, I have no doubt the time will come when our little promised land is compromised. I just pray and hope I'm not around to see it.

Lol they arent revolting ... they complain about trivial things ... like when i was there they were rioting over a law that made employers unable to fire employees after a period of time. The reason people in the us dont riot? becuase rioting is stupid, it accomplishes nothing ... its a glorified mob. The nail that sticks out gets hammered down rioting gives reason for unbridled force.... have fun with that...
