Just a few comments. First off, it was funny to me that poster who said "not all muslims are terrorists but all terrorists are muslims" was shown many examples of non muslim terrorists, but then went on to delegitimize those groups chrisitianity (in his thinking) and so they dont count. I think the point was well proven that, whether you think they are christian or not, they are certainly not muslim.

Secondly....this is not a war between americans and islam....or the west and islam. This is a war between those who own (the corporate powers) and those who produce (in this case oil), in the fine american tradition that we have used to control resources around the world for the last 150 years. We did the same thing in south america with united fruit, we do it now for their fruit, oil, and water. We do it in africa for their diamonds, metals. We are similarly in Iraq to control the output of their oil, and to control the water in the region, as iraq sits aside the two main water providers to the middle east.

If ANY group is on a conquest of global domination it is our corporate globalization, and they are largely succeeding. It is THEY, backed by the CIA, congress, etc that train (through the school of americas, USAID, etc) the terrorists who actually do most of the dirt, both here and abroad. In fact, the US is the only country in the world that has been found guilty of "acts of terrorism" by the world court.

The arab countries, on the other hand, have been involved in almost no wars outside the middle east in the last 2 centuries, while we have constantly been at war since WWII.

We overthrow their leaders, install dictators, wrest away control of their natural resources, punish them with the IMF and World bank in order to keep their workers poor and their products cheap, we bomb their people, commit rape and torture on them in abu ghraib and other such places...then we gasp in shock and disgust when they fight back, for their effrontery in not embracing the wonders of "democracy and freedom" that we offer....an offer sent along the treads of tanks and the squeal of rocket fuel.

I love a cartoon i saw, a depiction of a us jet dropping a bomb, and the caption underneath read "here, have some democracy!!". Its truly funny how history never changes, and just as western powers basked in self adulation as they spread "christianity" and "civilization" to the natives of south america, africa and the US through massacres, enslavement and ideological reconstruction, so now we go into countries and destroy their industries and impoverish their people through extortionist IMF and world bank loans to their governments, which the workers and poor never choose, and which enrich a small ruling minority in those countries while locking everyone else into third world status, all while we pat ourselves on the back for giving them "freedom" and "modernization".

Oh really? I didn't know white guys where getting pulled to the side for a "random" screening at airports or have their immigration status questioned because their Hispanic or getting pulled over because their are driving in the wrong neighborhood.

Wow, you guys have it so hard. A white guy can commit a random act of terrorism, like the Oklahoma City Bomber without stigmatizing the whole group. I would pay for a societal freedom like that, is it a special tax or something...it must be what this damn FICA tax thing

That's like Russia invading and hypothetically winning and forcing the whole American population into 15 or so states and telling them good luck. Oh yea, they can still gamble though, that's the famous American cop out in regards to how we treat the natives.

The only people who would say that indian reservations are a good thing are those that have no understanding of what they entail. We still used "indian schools" up until 20 years ago, where indians where required to go to americanize them. They were lined up and told one by one what their new religion would be, and all their posessions were taken from them to be used communally. Further, indian reservations are usually largely destroyed economies rampant with drug abuse, alcoholism, and diabetes due to the fact that, not only did we destroy their culture and spirituality, but we put laws into effect so that those communities could not create any industry which competed with nearby local communities. This meant that the reservations where dictated not to produce any marketable items that were also available in nearby local communities...this is freedom? THAT is the reason they have casinos...casinos are largely illegal in local communities, so its the only thing the natives could do that wouldnt draw business from their american neighbors. What a "good" thing for the indians, i am sure.

Ah, one the best posts in this thread. People just don't realize they are being goaded into hating a certain demographic by those in power. While you are distracted with a false enemy they can continue to do what they.

And as a side note, do Americans know their own history? This is directed at those that agree with profiling. When the KKK was hanging and lynching black people, white people didn't get profiled and they ARE christians. So all this crap about terrorists just being muslim need to look in their own backyard.

No, sadly most americans have no clue of their history, other than the fairy tale they are taught in high school. Indeed, the chinese ambassador even made fun of us, stating that americans are interesting to deal with because they have no history...by which he meant they know nothing of their history and so learn little from it.

Sadly, i work with children, and i can tell you that the education system in New Orleans, where i work, is so bad, that when i ask teenagers between 12-18 years of age questions like "what country lies on the southern border of the US?" i get answers like "africa?", or "Brittain?"

When i ask when the vietnam war was i get "the 1800s?"

Most have no clue what the vietnam war was about, believe the civil war was waged because lincoln hated slavery, dont know who fought in WWII, CANT EVEN name a SINGLE country we are at war in right now, and some cant even read a regular clock. Its a sad day indeed for american education.

Further, its always interesting to me when people bemoan the "liberal education" going on in schools, when as liberal as it truly gets is "oh, we killed indians when we came here" and "perhaps columbus was not as good as we made him out to be originally".

First I have to point out that if you made a requirement of this the real terrorists would just pretend to be some other faith while preparing for their mission. So the only people who would be humiliated in this way are the people law-abiding enough to tell the truth (in the same way that gun owners have always said anti-gun legislation only prevents law-abiding people from owning guns). How would you sort out only the Muslims? Would officials have the power to strip search anyone if they thought they were being lied to.

Finally, your idea is no good unless you say that YOU would agree to a strip search if the screeners decided to. Again, its not like people have their religion stamped across theirforhead, and if you are not willing to be inconvenieced, how do you expect others to?

Until muslims can control their own then they are all responsible for Islamic terrorism. Where are the thousands of muslims trying to condemn the crotchbomber? Where are they?

Haha, in the same vein, all americans are responsible for the horrors that our government perpetrates across the world, eh? Guess we are all sharing in responsibility for caring for all the people of the world. To bad few of us are willing to take the time to educate ourselves about what this really entails, and to accept responsibility for all our brothers and sisters...including the plants and animals.

This is indeed a shared world, and we each have our part. Some, most will allow ourselves to just be consumed within our own little lives. I pray that I will be able to do my part.

But he is on the bottom of the list for any grant, subsidy, gov't program, or job list - just to be fair to all the minorities. For all the perks, there's always a down side.

If your going to be singled out for a special hassle you should get a special benefit.

If it was done right, focusing more attention and resourses on people known to bomb airliners would allow a swifter path through security and be beneficial to Muslims.

I am a fair complected, blond hair, blue eyed Scandinavian. If the aryan nation had developed a history of this kind of behavior, I would feel it is my patriotic duty to undergo more scrutiny at an airport. I would deal with it with no expectations other than the added benefit of not being blown up on the plane.

However, I understand some will disagree, so make the path through higher security faster and less inconvenient.

Instead of "racial" profiling, why not behavioural profiling? Isreal is always under attack, but their airliners don't get blown up or hijacked. They are into behavioural profiling. I don't think we need more invasive and time-consuming scrutinity, we need smarter people doing behavioural profiling.
BTW, I lived in Detroit when someone in a light blue Pinto was kidnapping and killing children. I drove such a car and understood why it garnered so much attention from police, parents, and children. It was uncomfortable, but I undersood it was a good thing since it might help prevent another murder.

A native American can live anywhere he wants to live in America, Native Americans are not "Forced" onto the reservations. Just so you know, Some tribes have more than one reservation while some tribes have NONE, The ones who dont have one WANT ONE! Go up to any tribe without a reservation and ask them if they are pissed off that they dont have one and they will tell you YES! I cant even argue with you about this because it is so stupid, how can you tell me that indians having their own Sovereignty (although admittedly limited) is a BAD thing.

I would love to hear what the native americans would say about you if you started a protest rally and demanded that the american government strip the native Americans of their reservations.

In the centuries before the europeans colonised America, Did you know that the Native American tribes would commit genocide on other tribes and steel their land? let me ask you this? Do you really think that Tribe A (the tribe who just killed a whole other tribe so they could steel their land) would set up a reservation where Tribe B (the tribe who was just killed for their land by Tribe A) could live and have their own special laws and benefits? if your answer is no, then I dont really feel that we need to hear anything else out of you?

Nope. I haven't read the whole thread yet. It seemed like a pretty straight-forward unqualified statement that didn't require a research mission to respond to. I'm not surprised that countless others felt the need to comment, as well.
