U.S.: Unrest in Iran opens window for immediate sanctions

www.haaretz.com

The Obama administration says the internal unrest in Iran and signs of unexpected delays in their nuclear program make the Iranian government especially vulnerable to swift and serious sanctions, the New York Times reported on Sunday.

An administration official said current circumstances "give us a window to impose the first sanctions that may make the Iranians think the nuclear program isn't worth the price tag."

Despite the political unrest, Iran's political and military leaders are remaining steadfast in their determination to develop nuclear weapons, advisers to U.S. President

What's with Iran's issuing of its 'ultimatum' with regards to its nuke program?

The IRGC seems to be a 'ripe target' for sanctions because they are believed to be the driving mechanism behind the nuke program.

Problem is, they are already sourcing North Korean help for its nuke program.

Mahmoud Ahmadinejad is hell-bent of bring about WWIII in the Middle East so the '12th Imam' can arise.

The reality: '12th Imam' will be 'Antichrist'.

I seriously doubt it. You do not blockade nuclear nations. Their is a very good reason why you do not do that. China and Russia might also take offense to such actions. They already dislike our preemptive wars in Iraq and Afghanistan and you can't blame them for their lack of trust in the US. If we openly act against Iran it would bite us and bite us hard.

These sanctions will only hurt the people who are protesting as that is who will be most affected by it. Great tactics. Trying to increase the movement. Does anyone else see right through this??

END THE WAR!!!!!

Please don't speak anything out of your ignorance if you don't have enough knowledge of the faiths of Muslims or Shiite Muslims in particular you have no right to make a ridiculous statement such as above unless you have any logical proof to back your statement.

We Muslims and Shiite Muslims in particular believe the 12th Imam (Mehdi) will work along with Prophet Jesus to eliminate injustice and violence from the earth. They both will bring peace to earth instead of waging World War 3 ? We give equal importance to both of them. In short There is no way Muslim would folllow a person who claims to be Imam Mehdi and is against Prophet Jesus at the same time.

I don't see why they keep claiming that Iran has a nuclear weapons program without providing any evidence. Everything points to just a nuclear energy program. Even an American "report" said there was no nuclear weapons program.

In contrast, North Korea actually has nuclear weapons, and since they got them we haven't heard much about North Korea. In contrast also, Iran says that they do not want nuclear weapons, as they are "un-Islamic".

Every president does the same thing, they just look different. I find that suspicious, since that would indicate that there is something above the President that tells him what to do.
