I sure didn’t imagine I was alone when it comes to being quoted and referenced on other sites and it’s important that people are aware of how far what you say can travel.

ATS is known for having some very bright and articulate posters as well as dealing with controversial topics.

If you are like me, most of us, we come here to learn and discuss, share and indulge our passions for those things.

Yet some of the people who come to ATS come here looking for content for their own commercial websites to fill them up and create a lot of content to attract lucrative advertisers.

We are fortunate here on ATS that we can control the basic context in which our posts appear. Sure there is that occasional debater looking to misconstrue the context sometimes to enhance their own argument but you have that opportunity to come back and straighten the record.

What we post here taken out of context and then quoted too us on other sites could and can lead to things we say being taken out of context.

I have always been a pirate and a rebel and a rogue and a scoundrel I live that life, I enjoy living that life, so it’s no sweat off my back, but for those armchair warriors and keyboard commandos engaged in things like Operation Diaper Change, Operation Soccer Practice Drop Off, and Operation Nine to Five you should remain cognizant that what you say and do can and will be used against you in a court of law!

This topic tends to raise its head occasionally here on ATS...so I'll post what I normally post on such occasions.

Firstly - some background/context on where I'm coming from:

I was brought up around Active Protest within my country. Active Protest for Land Rights, Human Rights and for righting the injustices (perceived and real - as often its a matter of perception) carried out historically against my people/culture.
The 1st Protest I was involved in was at 9 years old - protesting against the Springbok Rugby Tour happening here at the time.
At 9 years old I faced the brutal reality of Police Riot Squads, of getting beatdown with riot battons, shields and kicked over.

What followed from there was over a decade of VERY active protest - of going toe-to-toe with Police lines, fighting those who would assert the will of TPTB.
I spent much time in courtrooms, in cells, on remand in various jails around the country.
I was NEVER one to back down, despite facing overwhelming odds, despite the reality that - at the time - you may win the odd scuffle but sooner or later the tides will turn and you'll be arrested, beatdown and charged once more.


The reality with active protest - and by active I mean doing more than TALKING about it...I mean getting out there and risking your neck, feeling some pain, losing some teeth and blood for what you believe in - the reality is that FEW have the stomach for it. And I don't blame them one bit.

I don't see it as cowardly to not want to get bashed over. I don't see it as cowardly to not want to get arrested and risk your career. I don't see it as cowardly to say "Enough" and walk away.
Ultimately everyone makes the choice just how far they wish to push and press on with what they believe.

Our protest lines were bountiful with good intention. With focussed intention. With those who swore black and blue that they would stand and fight.
However when the charge comes, when the batons and blood comes, when the kicks and the cuffs come...you could count on one hand just how many of those who previously stood solid and determined remained to face the fury.

So few indeed.

Again - that is not cowardice in my eyes. Indeed perhaps it could be argued those few of us who remained rigid to face it weren't brave - so much as perhaps stupid.

Either way - just from my own experience - there is a BIG difference between the TALK of Man and the WALK of Man.


Are there those on this site that would go all the way? That would take the beats and stand firm? Absolutely there are...and again from personal experince its hard to tell WHO that will be. Sometimes its the most unlikely person who rises to the occasion while the other 'hardmen' scatter like leaves.


Just my own opinion:
Most are full of it. Sorry, but they are. The thing is that some just don't know it yet...and it won't be until they stand there facing it that they'll know either way.
Most who promise you they'll be there WON'T.
Most who say they can CAN'T.
Most who say they do DON'T.

...and even fewer will be there when it comes...



I'm by no means saying I'm a hard man. That was me in younger years. Many years have passed now...times change, people change and I've changed too.

I seriously DOUBT that I'd have the stomach for that kind of thing any more.
I'm a husband, a father, have a good career that relies on maintaining a clean record. So the actions I choose to take now I must also weigh up on how they will impact my wife, son, family, work etc.
I'd like to think that if push comes to shove I'd stand my ground and fight. But again - noone really knows until it happens. I could well be one of those who stands with all good intention...yet scatters like leaves.

And I seriously PRAY that I never have to find out which it is..


Again, personal opinion: I don't believe that violence is the way any more.
As cliche as it is, violence begets violence.
Looking back now I see that very little was changed directly by the actions those of us within the active protest movement took.
Very little.
The real change came when we talked.
When we stopped adding to the mix of hate and mistrust.

I firmly believe that despite what I hear and see of 'The Powers That Be' holding the power, holding the influence, calling the shots. I firmly believe that the power STILL rests with the People.

The issue however is that for the most part the greater majority of 'The People' rest on that middle-ground. Hug the centre-line.
They are neither in either camp. For or against.
Yet THEY are the ones who make up the bulk of the numbers...they are the ones I believe hold the true key for change.
Yet they are also primarily focussed on getting on with their day, looking after their lives and just getting by.

Occasionally they might think "Oh wow, thats not right, thats wrong, someone needs to do something" ...but it tends to go little further than mere thought.


The question then is HOW do you influence that middle-ground, how do you stir within the greater masses the desire for change?

I don't believe that is done via a gun. Or a fist. Or a raised rage-filled voice.
Those actions tend to distance yourself and your cause from that middle-ground.



A wise man once said to me, when I was stepping out of the active protest movement and working more on changing via more peaceful means:

"You can't change someone with one finger (through pointing, berating, yelling and blaming - or worse still pulling a trigger) but you can with five (offering a hand in friendship, shaking their hand, talking with them face to face so they see you person-person, viewpoint-viewpoint)"

I'm new on here and I joined because of some of the things I see happening in the world today. The Norway Spiral vs Acient petroglyphs, the Vatican's recent proclamation of our extraterrestrial brothers, technology advancements I've seen and heard about, all tied in with my own observations of two advanced craft that shouldn't exist given today's technology. I hoped to find intelligent discourse about the stuff on my mind, not more of the same.
Sadly, these kind of posts occur on every forum I visit. The worst abusers I see are actually on military.com. As a US Navy veteran of the Cold War, I find myself actually angry at these people I don't even know. Every person in the military has sworn allegiance to and agrees to accept the orders of their Commander in Chief . Some of the posts border on treason. I am ashamed of those and refuse to call the posters my brothers at arms.
There has not been a President in office since I was old enough to understand that I agreed completely with but I swore to fight to the death for the man. That attitude hasn't changed in my civilian life.
If you must, speak to the man's policies, but keep talk of assassinations, treason, and sedition in your own twisted mind. Only those of your ilk want to hear it anyway.

I'll tell you the truth... I'm naturally skeptical, but in a way I thought that Obama would change things. I wasn't confident enough to vote for him, but I boy, were those thoughts wrong! Instead of a peace-loving community organizer we have a man who has propped up Wall Street while sending more troops to fight and die in illegal corporate wars around the globe.

But people are not satisfied, by any means. The Conservatives and the right-leaning libertarians are not satisfied because of the left-wing leadership and the trampling of the Constitution, the Democrats are not satisfied because he is giving the party a Bush-sized black eye - yet neither party wants to acknowledge that their elected leaders are two sides of the same coins - and the socialists and anarchists of all variety are not satisfied because, well, why would they be? But you can really tell that major rifts are occurring in America when the last sold-out mainstream bastion of liberal thought, Rolling Stone magazine (remember when they used to be cool?), has turned on Obama. I was excited and simultaneously disappointed when their economic expose turned their magnifying glass over Obama - because it contained the very things we discuss here on ATS! Evidence that we have all presented in our threads was now being unveiled under the banner of a 'daring, new expose'! Atleast people are being woken up, right?

I agree though, we can't put to much faith in the promises of the New Year. Remember the Utopian dreaming at the end of the 90s? The excitement and promise of the new Millennium, a sleek and shiny world of harmony with one another and technology? That dream surely came crashing down with the Twin Towers, and the world has been bathed in fire ever since. But, I believe only the people can save the people, and eventually it will happen.

Good look with the Swedish Bikini team! 2010 could be a very good year for you!


Me? I'm quitting smoking as a resolution. Four days in and it's going great.

It is rather disconcerting to read that some hold discussion of armed revolution - a duty cited in the Declaration of Independence - to be unconstitutional. I would certainly appreciate it if someone would point me to the appropriate part or portion of that document (i.e., the Constitution) where I may be able to study for myself where those who had recently fought their own armed revolution declared the discussion of same by future generations to be "illegal" - especially in light of the duty to overthrow tyrannical governments. Obviously, in writing of tyrannical governments, one would not be referring to the government of the United States - would one??

I agree with you about talking about a revolution and assassination of our president. This is just uncalled for and, I believe, just their way of trying to express how they feel.
I personally do not agree with the way the current administration is disregarding our constitution they swore to uphold, and I am doing what I can to fix what we have allowed, far too long, to be broken.
But, remember what Thomas Jefferson said, 'Every 200 years we should have a revolution to keep our government in check. I do agree with this statement, but have to wonder if he truly meant bloodshed again or if he meant through peaceable ways. Our founding fathers put together one of the most brilliant governments every created. I don't believe there is 1 other government designed to work the way ours does. We have been given a gift of power. We may not see it that way but we have. We just have forgotten, or lost the true ideas, of how our country truly works.

The way our constitution is written we have full control of the government. The politicians don't want us to remember that, and have done everything in their power to make us forget it. They are right we have turned into a people that don't remember anything past 1 months time. By the time elections are in November, how many people will remember that they are trying to make our national debt over $12 trillion this year alone and incrementally worse every year after that? How many people realize that the HCR they promised doesn't take affect till 2013 and we, the tax payers still have to pay for it starting this year? Or what about the fact that we are paying for it but yet there is no more public option?
Or the fact that they paid 1 congresswoman $300 million to buy her vote for it? Or the fact that if you don't have health insurance that they are using the IRS laws to enforce it. That means $25000 fine if you don't have it or jail time?
Or the fact that there is absolutely no guarentee in the constitution of free health care, or about taking your money to give to someone else just because they don't think you will.
These are all facts that America has forgotten or just has not been informed about.
We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness.
Did you know the pursuit of Happiness was originally Property? The reason it was changed was because they wanted to have a way to stop slavery even back then.
But, now, we have the government taking our property not for public good as in a roadway or airport. But because financially if a company wants to open a facility there, they take your house for it.
This has happened, in New Hampshire I believe, and the land wasn't even used by that company. How is that allowed to happen? Where is the moral outrage?

The very 1st paragraph of the Declaration of Independence.

When in the Course of human events, it becomes necessary for one people to dissolve the political bands which have connected them with another, and to assume among the powers of the earth, the separate and equal station to which the Laws of Nature and of Nature's God entitle them, a decent respect to the opinions of mankind requires that they should declare the causes which impel them to the separation

It's pretty straight right there.

Say whatever you want down in your bunker or in the church parking lot.

Really, I am curious as to who you are actually attacking here. Revolution is healthy, its an expression of our freedoms as American Citizens. Why shouldn't people stand up for what's wrong when so much of our Government is corrupt now. Instead of venting about freedom of expression, you should spend some time researching the corruption that is taking place. Do you enjoy your freedom; remember if it wasn't for Revolution we wouldn't be living in the same America you probably take for granted everyday. So when you speak to Soldiers, which I assume is what you meant by "Bunkers", don't forget they defend the freedoms that allow you to speak out here on ATS. Maybe you should spend some time in the Military while we continue to spend time trying to fix this administration and writing continuous letters to our congressman. 912 project, Oh Yeah!

A wonderful post and truly enjoyable to read about your misbegotten but noble youth, I dare say you are a better husband and father today for having those opportunities to sew those wild oats and make your mark in the world early on.

Idealism often gives way to practicality and even the hardest amongst us find it hard not to enjoy more genteel ways.

No one really knows what they will do in life and death situations until push comes to shove, sometimes it’s the people you least expect to stand up and be counted that will, and the ones you most expect to that won’t.

Discretion they say is the better part of valor and so is picking your battles wisely and shrewdly.

Economics is what drives everything. We live in a world where cash is the true king and ultimately it is those well funded efforts on either side of the divide that are going to have the most impact and put in the most effort.

They don’t call it a War Chest for nothing.

The Governments, the Corporations, the Associations, the Syndicates all operate for a profit; what ever they do is with an eye towards a profit or the bottom line.

If there is money to be made off of violence then there will be violence employed, if there is money to be made through peaceful efforts there will be peaceful efforts employed, but the point is it all boils down to money.

It’s like playing in a Rock and Roll Band, a lot of great musicians never achieve fame because they simply can’t afford to finance their own road to it. They put away the leather jacket and the electric guitar, cut their hair and don a suit and tie and go and do what enables them to enjoy some kind of quality of life in this world to sustain them selves.

Revolutionaries and radicals are often the same. I once shared a cab ride with Tom Hayden from the notorious Chicago Seven who caused such turmoil at the Democratic National Convention in 1968 and later married Jane Fonda.

Our flight from L.A. to Orange County California had been cancelled due to fog, he was on his way to a speaking engagement at the Sofitell Hotel there as California’s Insurance Commissioner!

Typical politician I paid for the cab ride, but he sent me a nice note thanking me for my generosity and stayed in touch throughout the years as he spring boarded from one job in California State Politics to the next.

Ultimately most people find they are going to have the biggest impact at effecting and changing the system from within.

Ultimately the success of changing the system from within is how profitable that change can be made to appear when undertaking it and how profitable it is once that change is made.

It’s all about money and ultimately most people do and will sell out at a certain point for the money, and the lifestyle and conveniences that money buy.

Being a person of principle is not for everyone, I recommend having a personal code that’s simple enough for you to always follow.

The truth is that the world really doesn’t want saved, they want Oprah and Geraldo, a BMW and a two car garage, or at least the opportunity to believe or dream that one day they might.

Talk is cheap but its all part of a healthy venting process that in many ways lets people exorcize those demons and frustrations and then refocus on what’s most important in life.

First things first...."I vehemently disagree with what you say, sir, but I will defend to the death your right to say it."

Next things next, I am reminded of a story I read a few years back about two men who emigrated to this country from somewhere in Europe.
During the long ocean crossing, they became more and more hostile towards each other, but their heated disagreements never came to blows.
Once at Ellis Island, both men went through all the testing and naturalization procedures. When they were finished with the oath, one of the men straightaway punched the other in the face.
"Why did you do that?", asked the injured man who was bleeding from the nose.
"Because this is a free country, and I can do whatever I want. Liberty is what I came to this country for, and I am merely exercising that God-given liberty," the antagonist replied.
"Well," said the bloody-nosed man as he picked up a chair. "I have news for you my friend. Your liberty ends at the tip of my nose."

I think that story well defines how a growing number of people feel towards an ever more aggressive government that completely disregards the fundamental principles of "life, liberty, and the PURSUIT of happiness."
I wish that I could unplug from society and have nothing to do with either side of this issue, but I know deep down that neither the federal government nor the "joke patriots" (as someone in another reply deemed them) will let me do that. I have pondered where that proverbial "line" that should not be crossed is for me. To be completely honest.....I am uncertain. One thing I am certain of is that I will not allow anyone to harm me, my family, my friends, or completely innocent persons while I still have life in my body. I wish to harm no one, but I will not stand idly by while atrocities are happening. Nor will I be discriminated against because I happen to adore my guns and my Holy Bible.

"The hottest places in hell are reserved for those who, in times of great moral crises, maintain their neutrality."

As for voting out the heathens in D.C.....it won't work. It's not the people in Washington. It's the SYSTEM commanded from there that is the real enemy of "liberty and justice for all". Only if states begin to emancipate themselves from the fascist "everything must be centralized" dogma, none of us have a chance of enjoying the true liberty that the U.S. Constitution affords us by the Grace of God.

Perhaps I am wrong. It happens on occasion. (That was sarcasm for those who are not acclimated to such emotional discourse.) But I do know this.....If the federal government wants to trample the Constitution because it is so "flawed" and "outdated", then why not just throw it out and start anew? I tell you why. They know the American people will not tolerate it. That alone should give you pause......and a reason to ponder why there is such a need to do so underhandedly.

BTW, for all those who think this country is a "democracy"....It is my pleasure to inform you that the United States of America is, in fact. a REPUBLIC.

I love this stuff, americans wakeing up---heard alot of talk about how the revolutionaries are really cowards and sit on their butts--tell that to the real tea party revolutionalists when you meet them on the other side. Anybody who thinks he can go up against the GOV with guns is delusional BUT!! its the lone wolves and small groups who do the most damage in a revolution anyway- JUST look at all the groups starting up, THE ENVIRONTMENTALISTS -MILITIAS-TEA BAGGERS, ETC. Look at what the anti-abortion people did to the death doctor who killed thousands of babies--they got him didnt they?? THEY THINK OUR government has killed its own people in 911--and the government is right now doing acts of treason against its own constitution and bill of rights punishable with death acording to the law..[ or dont you all want to hold a criminal or government accountable?]-- When people see this they want to act and its these lone wolves and small groups who we have to worry about since they can do the most damage anyway, verses the take on the military face to face crowd. AS FAR AS WISHING THE PREZ ILL ENDS, thats free speech. They think our prez is complicent in covering up treasonal acts, and that is treason punishable by death. SO BE IT--I wish god to give him his just deserves if he thinks he deserves it. In my oppinion we should all send a message to our polititions we had enough without being cowards with are words, i have -so have you???-its what they count on [masses being cowards]---I remember the WATTS riots and if thats the america we want everywhere then sit on your butts--cause its comming again , you all really know it but will not admit it-- I am 53 so my time is short here --i pitty the young and the world comming soon--PRAY

I have to agree with the OP on this. The topics that were encouraging the creation of an army to overthrow the government by force are getting very close to that fine line of what is and isn't legal.

As you can see, attempting to organize such groups is considered illegal.

it sounds as though, you have experienced some hard times with some true wimps on your side. that is unfortunate. i feel blessed that i cannot relate.


i live in a small rural community in the ol' u s of a. the greatest country the modern world has ever seen. not government. COUNTRY.

we pack our protection.
we see through liars.
we stand by our brethren.
we stand by our word.

let them try to take mine. ours.

you, reading this, my countryman, when the time comes, you WILL have the courage.

you WILL NOT run.

you know who is on your side.

and love conquers all.

You know it's funny because I never read that in the constitution and that is supposed to be the law of the land. More often than not I see these revolutionary types having a desire to return to constitutional law.

Now, if we did return to constitutional law that would mean drastic changes for the entire nation. Revolutionary changes. Changes that the current government might oppose with force. Currently they oppose it with indifference to constituents and a "I'll do whatever I want" kind of attitude.

If an organization is formed to restore constitutional law like CC2009 who has issued a cease and desist order to congress could the be labeled as an organization promoting the overthrow of the USA or are the justified in seeking a return to constitutional law?

An excellent post full of a lot of very astute and pertinent observations my friend.

Hopefully one thing a lot of the more youthful and naïve Obama supporters will get out of this debacle is that one man no matter how photogenic, hip, or hypnotic can not change the system from the top or the bottom.

Beware the person that claims they can.

If the bailouts have proved one thing it is that the Corporations run the Government and Government exists primarily for the benefit of the Corporations.

Many people in America are broke, destitute and homeless who are truly people who want to and will put in a hard day’s honest work and labor if given the opportunity.

Yet the reality is when it came to who got the government grease it was the Corporations and they got it at the expense and on the back of the citizens.

Not only did they get it, they got it by almost entirely dictating the terms of what they would get, when they would get it, what they would provide in exchange for it how and when, with government basically rubberstamping it in such a hasty way that few lawmakers even were allowed time or had the opportunity to read the terms.

The corporations run the country not the government. Ultimately only a very small number of people own the preferred stock in those corporations as opposed to the common stock that citizens and retirement funds bet on.

Rebelling against the government in many ways is as futile as spitting into the wind because it’s not the government that runs the country. The corporations run the country and that is a reality that many Americans young and old alike, black and white alike just are very slow to understand or accept.

Changing our government is ultimately going to require changing the corporate landscape, by busting up the monopolies, ending our dependence on cheap foreign oil and durable goods and getting back to producing things in the entrepreneurial ways that once made America the shining beacon of prosperity it became to people all over the world.

To that end we all can play a powerful and peaceful part in simply how we chose to spend our money and where and on what. Many of us, the vast majority of us, enrich the corporate culture by gladly giving it our hard earned money for services and products that we could get from smaller local companies. We don’t do that, we keep making the corporate monsters bigger and bigger often with the idea we are saving a buck in the process but it’s a short term savings as the Corporations ultimately look to profit more and more by exporting American Jobs, stagnating wages, and negotiating further government subsidies and laws that enable them by detracting from us.

We are literally paying for our own demise and our own enslavement and often queuing up in line to do it!

If people just rethought out the actual personal impact that they have, their own footprint on the globe, and realize that their own actions are leading to many of the things they then later lament we could start to turn the corner, to turn the tide.

As long as that illusion though that one person like the President, or one party like the Republicans, or that the very government itself can defeat corporate culture and hegemony is possible then we will continue to deteriorate and decline as a nation.

It really is not about revolution at this point, but evolution, in so much as can we evolve to that point where we can see our own actions as having an impact and guide and discipline our own actions to have the impact that we want?

Evolution, not revolution is the key.

Gonzo, I think you misunderstood my post. There is nothing in the Constitution, itself, which declares the discussion of revolution to be "unconstitutional." Such discussions are considered "illegal" because those in power determined it was in their own best interest to attempt to forbid such discussion through laws they, themselves, created to protect them from angry constituents. It was either that or have a lot of miniature Shay's rebellions on their hands.
