LEO's say that they support the 2nd amendment, but in reality if you are carrying a weapon whether concealed or in the open, the first thing they are going to do is challenge you to see if indeed you meet all the secondary laws & criteria that allow you to carry a weapon - the second amendment is an afterthought - as has been said by others in this thread who agree cc laws are themselves seen as violation. Otherwise LEO's would only take your weapon if they suspected you are a suspect in a known crime. Instead carrying a gun makes you a potential suspect without proof otherwise - which means you must force them to allow you to exercise your second amendment rights after they were first denied.

I cannot speak for other parts of the country, but in Southwestern Virginia(my area) we usually question people is the are dressed like a "thug" and are carrying a gun in their belt(perfectly legal if it isn't covered...just not safe). I see load off people out open carrying and don't bother them unless they look suspicious(pacing out side of a closed business etc.). If I respond to any call one of the first question I ask is, "are there any guns in the house, do you have any guns on you etc," If they have a gun on the I will hold it until I leave, if it is a domestic or something question I will let them pick it up the next day at the PD.

PAPERS PLEASE!

16th flag for you...

Im so glad that I live in a state that upholds my rights. We have a "Shall Issue" policy for our permits and when the city smokies harassed a guy in a book store because someone called 911 saying theres a guy running around with a gun...Turned out to be a guy in a suit buying a book with his wife...The AG's office replied that in New Hampshire, the constitutional right to keep and bear arms was not superseded by someone's "annoyance and alarm" at the sight of a gun.

Heres the complaint letter the guy filed...

www.freerepublic.com...

I dont know the outcome of this but rest assured...there would be a lawsuit coming from me!

Here is a perspective from the other side of the world, can you carry in Washington? "No."

Texas, "Hell yar, wanna see my Colt?"

Wyoming "Why you don't be carrying a gun?"

LA "Are you rich and famous?"

Hollywood "It's only a prop"

So why do you call your country the "United States?"

I have a C.C.W. license.While I was taking classes,I was told several
times,if a police officer stops me to do the following...
1.Have my hands where the officer can see them.
2.Tell the officer I have a carry conceal permit.
3.Tell the officer where my weapon is.
4.I am to do everything the officer tells me to do.
5.It is my responsibility to find out where I can carry a gun.
There is a list of places where you can not carry and it varies from
state to state. The most obvious ones...
1.Police stations and jails.
2.Court houses and government buildings.
3.Schools.
4.Hospitals.
5.Churches(some allow).
6.Public transportation.
7.Anywhere you see the do not carry sign.
8.Any place where alcohol is consumed on site.
My C.C.W. license doesn't give me the right to take the law into my hands.
It is a very serious responsibility owning any firearms and not to be taken
lightly.I hope to God I never have to shoot anyone. If I have to point a gun
at someone,I will shoot.I will only shoot someone to protect my life or
someone elses life,personal property,no!

In Virginia you can open carry in a bar, you cannot concealed carry, nor can you consume alcohol though. We have had a lot of people from out of state call us because of this.
