Hello all,

My name is Alexander. I am sixteen years old and live in Massachusetts. While it may seem odd for someone as young as me to be on this forum, I have always been unusually bright and have been fascinated by politics, religion, conspiracies, the paranormal, etc. I regularly listen to Alex Jones and Coast to Coast AM.

Politically, I am very conservative, bordering on libertarian. I started off listening to Rush Limbaugh from a very young age (my father introduced me to him), and he helped shape many of my views. However, I've moved away from neoconservatism and it's adherents, and now find myself at odds with Rush, Hannity, and Savage on a myriad of issues. I'd say politically speaking, I am very close to someone like Pat Buchanan. But, I digress...

I hope to have engaging discussions with all of you.

Happy New Year and (a late) Merry Christmas!

Please take Alex Jones with a grain of salt. While entertaining, there are many that believe he is a Disinfo Agent.....

IMO also be careful releasing too much personal info on ATS, just a thought.

Hi, welcome.

It's good to see there are some conservatives that can see Rush, Hannity, Beck, etc. for what they are. Those people carry the water for the powers at be, and are rewarded handsomely for the propaganda they spew. I think it is clear how much contempt those talking-heads have for their listeners.

I would probably (incorrectly) be labeled a socialist by many nowadays. I do believe that a government for, by, and of the people can do much good, and is more likely to promote the general welfare than a system of state sanctioned corporatism. (Is it no wonder that people have been intentionally persuaded to conflate socialism, nazism, communism, and fascism, lol?) However, even though I do believe, for example, in a single-payer healthcare system; I also think that free-market capitalism has its place and value, as well. I just don't think that profit is necessarily the be all and end all of everything.

I believe that a libertarian like you, and a humanist like me have much in common. It is my conjecture that Rush, Beck, Cheney and their ilk are most vested in making people like you and me feel like enemies, as the greatest threat to the true power structure will come when the different flavors of non-sheeple come together to help promote the increase of real freedom.

Some measure of collectivism can actually promote individuality, in my opinion. Extremes are usually flawed, and black and white thinking is a pathetic crutch for those who do not know how to use their brain. Does that make any sense to you? Anyway, just thought I'd throw some stuff out there, and see what you think, as you seem to be iconoclastic.

Happy New Year!

Best,
Skunknuts

I grew up on this crap too. Rush is still ok, Hannitys a jackass, and Savage is as hillarious as he is self diluted and depressing.

If you can find Phil Hendrie in your area, or online I would suggest listening to him. It;s a Comedy/political show. It's hilarious and informative.

skunknuts, I definitely agree with you. Their strategy is to divide and conquer. I've found that when I find common ground with liberals and leftists in general, we are a powerful force (politically) to be reckoned with. While the media emphasizes our minute differences, the vast majority of my views are shared by all - right, left, and center. If we all united and focused on our similarities instead of our differences, nothing could stop us; we would be a powerful force for freedom.

mosesgunner, I reason I dislike Hannity is because he is more of a Zionist than an American. I am wholly opposed to Israel, not because I have anything against Jews, but because Israel has hegemony over the US. As a proud Patriot, I despise that, and I especially hate it when people like Hannity seem to put Israel ABOVE America and talk as though Israel is basically America's 51st state. It's not, it's a different country, and neocons are far too loyal to Israel to truly be patriotic Americans.

Hello Alexander and welcome to ATS. Im from Boston and started checking out this site when I was around your age.

I just wanna say, don't fall into the trap of the American political system. There is no left, right, liberal, conservative. Its all smoke and mirrors to keep the public pre-occupied with silly meaningless debates.

I remember former Minnesota governor Jesse Ventura compared American politics with Pro Wrestling. In front of the cameras they all hate each other, but they all go out to dinner and are friends when the cameras are off. I thought that was a pretty accurate comparison.

Anyways, welcome to the site!
