I know that. Why would you think I didn't know that? I posted the 3.2 quake earlier

I'm sorry, I just saw this post. I knew you posted the 3.2 above it, then anmarie96 posted the 8.0. How does a mistake like that happen? Was the entire report spurious?? I'm confused too.

OIC, I'm here is central FL. I live on 'the ridge.' It's the highest spot on the peninsula, but still a big quake could make a big tsunami...not good.

I'm sorry for the big scare - i was just reporting a report that the deleted after moments of my post - all is good

Talk about a big mistake. I wonder how many people got that email and what all it caused. There are probably still some people some places that are waiting for the tsunami to hit. I've never seen a report that far off. Not a good sign.

OK, but I'm curious. Did USGS make a mistake and send that? Do they make mistakes like that often. How can you mistake a 3.2 for an 8.0? Glad it was a false alarm.

No, they do not make those mistakes often - but is does happen - never quiet like that though - I don't know - computer glitch or human error on the keyboard - I really don't know

Okay Folks - We have a report from USGS

Users of the USGS Earthquake Notification System received a message reporting a magnitude 8.0 earthquake near the Dominican Republic. This was a mistake. In an effort to increase our ability to detect smaller earthquakes in the Caribbean region following the January 12th earthquake in Haiti, the USGS began accepting earthquake locations and magnitudes from additional sources in the region. The message reporting a magnitude 8.0 earthquake near the Dominican Republic was incorrect and resulted in the distribution of the errant e-mail. We acknowledge this was a serious mistake and have issued a correction.

Lots of little shakes today in Italy today there are allways some, but more so today:

02.04.2010 15:54:45.0 37.85 N 15.21 O 2.2 Sicily
02.04.2010 20:04:47.0 37.76 N 15.11 O 4.2 Sicily
02.04.2010 20:21:00.0 37.81 N 15.11 O 3.2 Sicily
03.04.2010 00:05:13.0 37.80 N 15.04 O 3.6 Sicily

02.04.2010 09:34:53.0 42.47 N 13.35 O 2.2 Central italy
02.04.2010 16:57:51.0 42.78 N 13.42 O 2.4 Central italy

03.04.2010 07:13:47.0 42.46 N 13.30 O 2.2 Central italy
03.04.2010 13:10:27.4 46.82 N 11.18 O 2.7 Northern italy

These shakes in Italy may or may not be connectet to the Poland one. There are still some more like that:

03.04.2010 04:59:31.1 43.33 N 17.44 O 2.9 Bosnia and herzegovina

All that Aktivity is in one line south to north but there is no fault line there. Italy does have its share of these earthshakes, not just in this number.

You got the one in Poland maybe not the aftershocks.

03.04.2010 01:36:43.1 51.59 N 16.07 O 4.6
03.04.2010 02:05:27.1 51.37 N 15.98 O 2.5
03.04.2010 02:56:16.5 51.39 N 16.28 O 2.4

Did you have that?
02.04.2010 22:07:44.6 71.32 N 9.22 W M4.8 Jan Mayen island region
somewhere near Island
