New version of QuakeData is now available. Use the link in my signature to get the download.

If you already have the program you ONLY need to install the QuakeData part and do not need to (re)install the QDTask.

When installing over an existing version just accept all the defaults as presented.

The web plots has a minor problem - I forgot to set the date to current when you open the form so it is stuck in 14 Mar 2010. I will correct that in version 3.4 which will become available when I have worked out how to extract SEED files.

Hey, no. The quake are too far from Baguio City.
Maybe I can say hello to a quake next time when I'm going to Pinatubo, Taal and Mayon.

most likely those are from this 6.0 quake in Chile:

earthquake.usgs.gov...

The times look about right, although I didn't vet them carefully.

And it's nothing odd, as that's what they usually look like (for a 6.0+ quake) at about that distance from the station to epicenter. That station is in Limon Verde, Chile, far in the north from the epicenter.

wow - I never really understood people's nonchalant attitude towards quakes 'cause they 'happen all the time', I just didn't realize the regularity was daily.

But, just to confirm, anything less than a 6 is probably not going to get mentioned in the news, eh? Is that the general rule?

Greetings, Salutations and Good Morning. It appears to be some sort of reaction to the 6.0 quake posted above. Yes it is odd. It appears to be a little late and long going. IDK, maybe it's tired like myself with the dreaded time change and didn't have enough energy. I am unsure though if this station reacts this way to further distance. It clearly shows the quake in Peru.

It sort of depends where they are.

A 6.0 off shore that causes no tsunami probably won't get mentioned, nor will a 6.0 in say a mountainous region like Hindu Kush as it probably won't be felt.

A 5.0 off shore definitely won't, but as with the 6.0 a quake on land could cause damage and/or death under certain circumstances.

A 6.0 is about 32 times stronger than a 5.0 and a 7.0 is about 1000 times greater than a 5.0

There are a number of 5/6 Mag quakes round the ring of fire that possibly get a mention - but then remember what a 7.1 did in Haiti. It is all a matter of where rather than specifically the magnitude.

The type of ground that is being affected also plays a major part in the effect of a quake on an area.

This link to Wikipedia gives you and idea of the factors that can affect. The other I did not mention was the depth. Quakes nearer the surface will be more destructive than deep one generally.

So daily - yes for the smaller magnitude quakes. USGS has 109 quakes for yesterday in the database of quakes over 1.0 Mag. Of these

55 occurred in California - maximum magnitude 3.0
11 occurred in Chile - maximum magnitude 5.7
18 occurred in Alaska - maximum magnitude 3.7
2 occurred in the Virgin Islands - maximum magnitude 3.0

and so on.

This has not been reported.

This along with the above do not look promising. Many seismo's in the area appear this way. The area in questions would be along and just inland - Oregon & Washington.

Thank you but that was much earlier. Activity in question starting around 14:03 UTC +/-. 2 1/2 hours and ongoing depending on the station

That second one is for sure (well, pretty sure) showing a harmonic tremor...

Uh, yah...that first must be the 4.6 off shore...that second one though, what the h@ll???

I am sitting just inland in NW Washington and have been watching things closely. I have B046, B026 and B022 pulled up but have been just checking them periodically. I noticed that PB B046 EHZ has been having a lot of noise. It sits on the shoreline of the Cali/Oregon border, closest to the cluster of quakes. Up in Ocean Shores though, it's bouncing a little too, so I am still a little nervous about all of this.

That second seismo has me REALLY hoping that it can be explained as something other than HT, and I REALLY want to know just where it is at!!!
