I know that the Canadian event is a smaller event. But - it seems like it was larger. I live a good distance from there - Ulster County, New York. The waves (there were 2 with a 5 second rest between the 2) really trembled here. I really thought that a 18 wheeler with a second box on the back went down the street in front of the building at a high rate of speed going over a bunch bricks. Accordingly, I am not suprised that the seismo's in yellowstone picked up this event. Maybe the tremor has to do with the makeup of the rock in this area.

Undoubtedly yes. It certainly looks bigger than it was.

As you say, it must be an effect of the topography - which actually is a known fact on that side of the continent.

""A strong earthquake has shaken a number of cities in eastern Canada. People were apparently in the rare event not to harm. The earthquake reached a magnitude of 5.5, the U.S. seismological (USGS). In the center of the capital Ottawa several buildings were evacuated. In Montreal, the earth shook around half a minute. The epicenter was about 60 kilometers north of Ottawa.""

Thanks for that

I am finding this wide spread effect of the quake really interesting. If that was Indonesia no one would have batted an eyelid. Curious and needs more investigation.

What's up with USGS? Either there have been no earthquakes in CA for several hours (even under 2.5) or USGS stopped reporting, despite their update clock being up to date.

Same for 2.5+ nothing reported since the 6.9 in Solomon
