The Taiwan quake has been down graded to 6.5 and depth revised to 22 km. I am glad the quake was deeper, as less damage occurs with greater debths. We have had only 1 aftershock - here is the update and aftershock

Scotia Plate is getting jiggled around. Lots of volcanoes down there.

I wonder if those earthquakes in the South Sandwich Islands region may have an impact on the Iceland volcanoes. Let me explain. Looking at a map of the mid Atlantic ridge, it looks like the South Sandwich Islands area, the America-Antarctica ridge and the mid Atlantic ridge are all linked together. I know they are far away form each other but is there a possibility they can trigger more volcanic activities up there.

Good question and the map shows the ridges clearly

Another question to ponder, is it possible the earthquakes at the Sandwich islands are being caused by the same thing as the Iceland eruptions? ie an expansion of the Earths Mantle

I think so too.. a lot of the smaller ones that were in the 2.0-2.9 range now seem to be moving into the 3.0+ ranges.

And to whomever suggested the CI.SWS station (I believe it was you Moorf, I will look) thanks.

EDIT SAYS: Yes, it was you Moorf..

Poppin off in Ocotillo
Looking at USGS damn near the whole page. I could feel a little rumble from the 4.7 but nobody else felt it. I am however a little sensitive to quakes.

I don't have a bad feeling, but I do think So. Cal, San Diego in general, should prepare for a good jolt ...

I just checked out the latest quake list and it's like "bam bam bam" in S. California! I'm not usually one for predictions but feels like something's brewing. Or it could be lack of sleep...
