Raw Video: Entangled Whale Cut Free Off Maui

A young whale injured and entangled in fishing gear off the coast of Maui was freed on Christmas Day. Rescuers cut the whale free from fishing line and an anchor that was hanging off his tail. (Dec. 28)

Sometimes it's important to relay good stories.

This brings up the all important topic of responsible conservation.

Whether it's hunting, fishing, or other sports or industry, it's important to make sure your activities don't endanger species that should not be effected. This whale was lucky, but when fishermen loose nets and those nets trap fish and whales that were never meant to be caught it causes a problem.

I understand that whales are endangered, and I do hope that with responsible conservation efforts the populations of these majestic animals rises.
