I've enlarged the image a little - it's hard to make out much detail that supports the "plane" option.

Giving consideration to this plus.....

The general shape

The resemblance to previous "bird mistaken for UFO" images

The lack of interest from the bystanders

The fact it was not noticed by the photographer (although I guess that could be misrepresented)

.....I still go with the "bird" option.

In my humble opinion, it's a bird.
I've found the original image, I post a crop here:

The photo was taken with a Nikon COOLPIX L19 (8.0 megapixels) and the original image size is 2,448 × 3,264, full EXIF data can be found here.
I'd say it was flying in direction right-left, more or less this is what we see:

I could be wrong, just my two €. cents.

I MUST agree with greeneyedleo and internos. This is OBVIOUSLY a bird IMHO. We have seen too many similar and near definite similar pictures that the probability that it IS a bird is over 99% IMHO. We all wish it was something else but is really is not. Thanks for sharing though, this is how we all live and learn...
