On Breaking Alternative News threads, shouldn't the title of the thread be the same as the title of the news article that is being sourced. I see where this is news but I fail to see where it is alternative should this thread be placed in Breaking News or Political News instead?

* Copy the exact headline of the story into the headline field, don't make one up or sensationalise it. Submissions with inaccurate, biased or otherwise deceptive headlines may be moved, closed or deleted. Obviously, some editorial latitude will be allowed if the original headline is too long (gets truncated), too obscure or already biased. If the headline is biased or otherwise inapporpriate, provide a descriptive headline that is accurate and reflects the article you're submitting. (This is a judgement call and may be modified by a moderator.)

Just asking...

Even though this has been proven to be false, we are still getting uninformed posters lauding the decision.

Which I am fine with.....If the Title of the thread is misleading (intentional or not) in regards to "Breaking News", then why do they still allow it.

It is seen that 50% of posters don't reply based on content but rather on the title, giving little regard to what is actually being said or actually investigating what is said.

Funny and ironic as it is.....complain about an organization and say they don't fact check or say lies, but then contribute to a thread that is misleading in the same aspect.

Oh yeah...and Flagging it....WHY THE HELL IS IT GETTING FLAGGED? This isn't important....geesh...the flag system here on ATS is just a way to make ridiculous threads that make one feel good about themselves.

Exactly correct.....it is fox network, not the cable news .

And TW/Brighthouse will fold long before Fox does.

But there will still be plenty of propaganda to feed 100 elephants for 50 years. Not to worry.

Any thread with FOX News, Sarah Palin, Dick Cheney, or Rush Limbaugh in the title is sure to be a hit on ATS, whether it contains any truth or not.

Funny because i am neither fat nor do i need viagra, and you clearly misunderstood my statement. Oh and nice generalization you made there. You Should know that you are talking to a politically independent messianic-jew who listens to heavy metal and advocates marijuana legalization. I am NOT a member of fox news' target audience.
I attended school for working in TV broadcasting and Film, i am more than familiar with their tactics. But i also know that fox news is not the only "news source" who runs the Infotainment racket.

I HATE fox news as much as any left-wing nut does. Them and MSNBC are the guardians of political deception. But like i said it is sad that out of all of our so called "news stations" they are more fair and balanced. But it would appear to me that you have been programmed (and please, prove me wrong)by other MSM outlets to automatically dismiss anything that even remotely appraises fox news as the work of "brainwashing" and psychological conditioning. You automatically accuse the person of "buying into it" when in reality the person explicitly states that they do not buy into it. And I am the person who is "buying into it?" Oh no sir, i contend that YOU are the one who is buying into the medias deception and it is YOU who has been conditioned by fox news' opposition.

I'll be over here in reality where fox news is just as evil and biased as the rest of the news media.

They did the exact same thing last year and signed in the final hour.
It happens every year. I work there. They suck!

I have the same problem of being accused of being fixated on Fox by people who are fixated on their MSM of choice.

They contend I am brainwashed because I listen to or watch Fox but it is OK for them to get all their info from one source.
For reasons beyond me, they cannot comprehend that I check them all out and act like the words did not come out of my mouth.

It is mind blowing to tell someone that I gather my info from as many MSM outlets as I can, so that I can form my own opinion, and then have them tell me that they only get their info from the CNN or wherever, but it is me that is brainwashed.

It’s as if as soon as you mention Fox, you are immediately discredited as being a loon and nothing else you say carries any weight. And they just don’t see it, they are too blind to even care.

I've seen this happen to obscure channels, but never a major news network. I bet they'll reach an agreement real fast when they start getting complaints and cancellations. This isn't going to last long, if it happens at all.

I posted this in another thread about this same topic and I shall now repeat myself.

Everyone here is all for the free market system and capitalism, however when a corporation decides to try and negotiate a better deal for themselves in free market tradition, they get all sorts of people coming out of the woodwork claiming it's a great day for this or that when one side HAS to fold etc.

What it all boils down to is simple.

Over the air broadcast networks, in this case Fox (in my area Fox5) and MyNetworkTV are feeling the pinch of the economy from falling advertising revenues as less consumers go and buy products, which in turn adds up to less advertising dollars for the companies to spend on Radio and TV and Print ads. What Fox and MyNetwork are trying to do is renegotiate the terms of a contract by which they get x amount of cents per broadcast hour from the cable company to be able to carry the signal, to cover things like overhead and retransmitting it to the various cable companies, and the satellite feed that has to be in place (or in some markets, microwave or fiber, you get the idea) Currently I think in NY Time Warner pays 27 cents or so (I read it the other day and can't remember the exact figure) and Fox is trying to up that to 50 cents. so at most it's 20something cents they are fighting over.

Can we say making a mountain out of a molehill? Whether you like Fox as a corporation or not, you cannot stand on one side and applaud the free market system and chant about freedom to engage in competitive business practices and on the other hand deny a corporation you may not agree with the rights to do the same, the two don't go together, in fact, if you are against censorship, that anti-censorship HAS to apply to that which you don't like, as well as that which you support or it means NOTHING.

One name folks.

Mark LLoyd.

Obamessiah's "diversity" czar.

All of you that are cheering for the removal of a channel on any network (even the Communist News Network), would do well to heed this possible step to "cleaning" the air waves.

Remember he mentioned taxing those "not in compliance"?

Check this cat out. its not so funny then.

Except... None of that is relevant.
Murdoch demanded a 400% increase in fees from Time Warner. They said "No." End of story. The moral is Greed. Not censorship.

all part of the game. they release this news to send stocks plummeting so that the guys on the inside can buy them at low prices and then they will announce that fox stays.

Just to be clear, i just called TWC and Fox News itself will not be going anywhere...channels like Fox Reality and their sports channels are the ones that might be pulled from the line up

Meh, i agree with most of the Left .. why would i criticize something i believe in ??

I'll rather get brainwashed by the Left ..

Guess what? NOBODY WATCHES THOSE LEFT WING STATIONS! So peddle your crap elsewhere!

You really are the typical ignorant liberal. Your posts above prove it. You do not like objective views. You do not like a balanced argument. I seriously wish people like you did not exist. It is people like you who are destroying this country! Get a life, and open your eyes to the real world, maybe then you will understand that everything isnt so black and white.

Not to be flip, but this is the best thing that ever happened to my family (I admit that doesn't say much for my family, but oh well). With Bill and Glen out of the picture it will be a hell of a lot easier to talk to my grandma about what's REALLY going on in politics.

You know it's just business but Time Warner runs to John Kerry to do something about it. Why? Time wants the programming but doesn't want to pay for it. Does Time want the government to get Fox to sell its programming at Time's price and not Fox's?

This is to all the people who claim brainwashing by either side:

I'm curious what your education level is.

I think any news programming is a great place to start with information because it gives you an idea of what is going on in the world. Certainly some are better at leaving politics out of it than others. Regardless, people should get their information from some kind of peer reviewed academic journal. There are so many misconceptions and misleading facts (intentional or unintentional) that has made this country unintelligent. Its not enough to simply, "think for yourself." Scientific method is the most effective way of seperating fact from fiction. Education is important so you know how to interperate the legitimacy of these articles.

While I do consider myself liberal, there are plenty of things I hate about democrats. I would also gladly vote for a republican if I felt he/she was more suited for a position than someone of another party. The sooner we stop labeling each other left or right and start focusing on intelligent interpretation of legitimate studies, the sooner our society will benefit.

Let's face it, the best way for this to happen would be for politicians to lead the way. Since that is obviously never going to happen, the remainder of society needs to step up. Why not start with ATS?
