Iranian regime followers stage show of strength

rawstory.com

Hundreds of thousands of government supporters took to Iran's streets on Wednesday in a show of force against the opposition, with a senior cleric telling their leaders to repent or be declared enemies of God and face death.

Television footage showed crowds in areas including Tehran's Enghelab Square, chanting slogans and waving pro-regime placards.

"O free-willed leader, we are ready, we are ready," they shouted in reference to supreme leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.

Seems that both sides of the camp are rallying for there cause . Could it be that we are witnessing the birth of a ciliv war and not a revolution at all ?

Its a safe bet to say something is coming to the streets of Iran sooner rather then later and its another safe bet to say that at the onset it won't be good for the average person in Iran .

As of yet I have herd nothing about crowds clashing with one another , lets hope it stays that way .

Yep from what I have been able to find, the anti regime protestors have stayed quiet during the rally today. Not too surprised.

This really is proof that protesting corrupt government is the dumbest idea. It NEVER works. EVER.

It only makes you a TARGET, and gives them the ability to destroy you. And even kill you right there for little to no reason, and no one will go to jail for your death.

So....the only logical solution is.

1) Get used to it and start liking it.

2) Get weapons and fight for real.

That is really the only choices you have.

Protesting only gets you screwed badly.

Nice news article but look - you should NOT trust any Iran related news, especially not those from charming "internet contributors" such as those on twitter or blogs.

In Serbia the socialist regime faked images and videos to make demonstrations with 100 people look like "many thousands of people". Even back in 90's they faked it fairly well. Stuff like that is especially common in North Korea according to few journalists who went there.

The pro-regime supporters are probably the brainwashed relatives, wives and daughters of the regime officials that think they have to live in an oppressed world, and very strange looking people who look like drunks & druggies & homeless people who are given small bribes to just turn up, stand in rows and chant some rubbish about the west and Israel. Without these to fill up the spaces, the regime would only have its own basij in plainclothes and regime officials there in pro-regime rallies, which would be an embarrassingly small crowd.

Notice the difference in clothes they wear in comparison to ordinary Iranian's who protest in the opposition, and their numbers are of a factor 100 less than ordinary Iranian's. If many millions voted for Ahmadinejad as the regime claims, then where are they all!

Nobody should expect the opposition to protest every single day, it's ludicrious to expect them to. We definitely won't see many anti-western marches like today because if they did this everyday the regime wouldn't have time or resources to do anything else. At least the opposition can muster millions or hundreds of thousands on dozens of occasions, yet the regime struggles to find 10,000.

This is a show of desperation by a crippled and collapsing regime.

I just wonder how long until something happens over there that will bring this current level of tension to the next level ?
