His name was one of about 550,000 in the Terrorist Identities Datamart Environment database, known as TIDE, which is maintained by the U.S. National Counterterrorism Center. Inclusion in that database does not trigger mandatory additional airport screening.

Wait. Say that again.

If that guy was a graduate of the Al Queda training amp, he needs to get his money back. Maybe he was one of the guys from the flaming hoop videos. Remember those?

At any rate, we have the shoe bomber, the liquids bombs, now the underware bomber (talk about yor burning sensations!), and then the weirdo who locked himself in the bathroom.

I'm beginning to wonder if these failed bomb attacks are really intended to destroy the plane or if they are intended to NOT do much of anything except make all the passengers wet themselves and turn the airport screening process on it's ear.

I mean, come on. If you want to take the plane down and you managed to get some explosive device on board, why not just go in the bathroom, lock the door, and get `er done?

Instead, they do all these scare tactics which works much better.

If they blow the plane up, we would never know what happened.

How would they determine some guy blew up his rear end? Talk about the butt of all jokes (apologies to the mods).

If they wanted to blow up an airplane, they would have done it by now. Just pull up to an airport in a van, RPG a random plane, shoot shocked drivers passing by, and all it a done day in the world of terror.

I'm not giving away any ideas here. A little kid with a parent in the military can think this stuff up.

Or you could always storm a school Columbine style.

No, there is a method behind this madness. If they wanted to blow up planes, planes would have already blown up.

This post assumes these moron-guys really are terrorists. And that's not saying much. I think I've received better training in a 2 minute laser tag demonstration then these knuckle heads get in a terror training camp over months and months.

There are allot of things here that don't pass the smell test.

Or was that you?

My sides hurt. This is about the funniest post I have ever read on the internet. Ever.

Wow. Somebody call SNL. And call South Park to. I got a new writer for them, right here.

OMG that was funny.

On a much more serious note, I wonder if "they" are going to decide Iran had something to do with this. If you all remember, "they" thought it was Saddam on 911 before "they" learned how to pronounce Osama and Al Queda.

That is the strange thing. Of all the many thousands of ways they could cause death, destruction and fear if they wanted to they go for these half hearted, incompetent failures. Either this is really the B team we're seeing in action or there isn't much threat at all.

Anyone with half a brain could accomplish more than these boogeymen are at the moment.

Abdulmutallab: More Like Me In Yemen
Accused Northwest Bomber Says More Bombers On the Way; Al Qaeda Promises to Hit Americans

abcnews.go.com...

Umar Farouk Abdulmutallab, charged with the attempted Christmas Day bombing of Northwest Airlines flight 253, told FBI agents there were more just like him in Yemen who would strike soon.

And in a tape released four days before the attempted destruction of the Detroit-bound Northwest plane, the leader of al Qaeda in Yemen boasted of what was planned for Americans, saying, "We are carrying a bomb to hit the enemies of God."

"They know that this is a weakness and an Achilles' heel in our airport security system," said ABC News consultant and former counterterrorism czar Richard Clarke.

Law enforcement authorities say tragedy was averted only because the bomb's detonator did not work.

"I think it's very clear it came very, very close," said Rep. Pete Hoekstra, ranking minority member of the House Intelligence Committee. "The explosive device went off, it became an incendiary device instead of an explosive device, which is probably what saved that airplane."

On Sunday, in its first communication since the failed Northwest Airline bombing, Al Qaeda in Yemen released a written statement about the December 17 air strike in Yemen. The statement called on "the people of the Arabian peninsula" to attack American military installations, ships and "spying embassies." The U.S. Embassy in Yemen was attacked by Al Qaeda-affiliated terrorists in September 2008, and the U.S.S. Cole, a U.S. Navy destroyer, was hit by Al Qaeda in 2000.

Wafa Sultan,

www.meforum.org...

Wafa Sultan is a Syrian-born psychiatrist who immigrated to the U.S. in 1989. She is most well-known for appearing on Al-Jazeera in 2006 in a debate with sheikh Ibrahim Al-Khouli, when she delivered a memorable attack on Islam (which has since caused her to live in hiding). She just released a new book, entitled A God Who Hates. On October 20, Dr. Sultan addressed the Middle East Forum via conference call.

Islam is intrinsically destructive—that is Dr. Sultan's message. She began by discussing how she came about this conclusion, which is the story of her largely autobiographical book.

In her view, the Muslim world needs reform in three areas: Muslim nations must 1) grant their citizens the right to practice any—or no—faith; 2) they must reform school curricula, which currently teach intolerance and hatred for non-Muslims; 3) they must grant equal rights to women and eliminate the oppression Muslim women currently experience.

Dr. Sultan stressed this last point, saying the West has long ignored the plight of Muslim women, which is why her book spends extra time addressing the problems women face in the Muslim world. Her recommendation is for the West to cease apologizing for Islam and instead confront Islamic teachings directly and "put pressure" on Muslims to "come up with honest answers."

Asked whether rejecting Shari'a is tantamount to rejecting Islam itself, Dr. Sultan answered in the affirmative: to be a Muslim, one must accept the laws of Islam as laid out in the Qur'an and the words and deeds of Muhammad (the Hadith). Thus, while she accepts that there are "moderate Muslims," she insists that Islam itself is not and cannot be moderate. Still, she hopes that those who are trying to reform Islam will one day prove her wrong.

In response to a question on whether putting pressure on the Muslim world, as Dr. Sultan recommends, could provoke a backlash, she said that there would indeed probably be an initial backlash and perhaps an increase in violence. Regardless, Muslims will sooner or later have to confront the reality of Islam's "cruel" and "backwards" teachings.

Finally, asked about what Americans can do to make people aware of the threat, Dr. Sultan urged for pressure to be put on the U.S. government to confront Islam without politically correct restraints. She concluded by asserting her dream—that one day her native Syria will be as free as the United States.

Two al Qaeda Leaders Behind Northwest Flight 253 Terror Plot Were Released by U.S.

abcnews.go.com...

Two of the four leaders allegedly behind the al Qaeda plot to blow up a Northwest Airlines passenger jet over Detroit were released by the U.S. from the Guantanamo prison in November, 2007, according to American officials and Department of Defense documents. Al Qaeda claimed responsibility for the Northwest bombing in a Monday statement that vowed more attacks on Americans.Airport in Romulus, Michigan December 27, 2009.
(Reuters/U.S. Marshal's Service)

American officials agreed to send the two terrorists from Guantanamo to Saudi Arabia where they entered into an "art therapy rehabilitation program" and were set free, according to U.S. and Saudi officials.

Guantanamo prisoner #333, Muhamad Attik al-Harbi, and prisoner #372, Said Ali Shari, were sent to Saudi Arabia on Nov. 9, 2007, according to the Defense Department log of detainees who were released from American custody. Al-Harbi has since changed his name to Muhamad al-Awfi.

Both of the former Guantanamo detainees are described as military commanders and appear on a January, 2009 video along with the man described as the top leader of al Qaeda in Yemen, Abu Basir Naser al-Wahishi, formerly Osama bin Laden's personal secretary.

In its Monday statement claiming responsibility for the Northwest bombing, Al Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula called bombing suspect Umar Farouk Abdulmutallab a "hero" and a "martyr" and lauded him for beating U.S. intelligence.

The two-page written claim included a photo of Abdulmutallab and boasted of Al Qaeda's success in designing "advanced explosive packages" that can pass through airport screening undetected.

The statement also asks for attacks upon Americans in the Arabian peninsula, and promises further attacks on the American people.

Wake up and smell the Bush everyone!

Since Obama has failed to raise his popularity with his destructive domestic agendas, a perfect solution would be to have Al Qaeda threats raised to a Bush era level, providing a great opportunity for our president to have a big bad boogieman to go after and perhaps boost his approval ratings. Time to flex your military muscles Mr. President.

Remember you must first have a series of failed attacks, then some real attacks... You already have one, and you need to plant more fear in the minds of Americans and Europeans through clever leaks to the Media, perhaps the threat of suitcase nukes would be a good plan (Bush already used the WMD thing) (don't go there!). The CIA and other covert agencies can make these things happen for you. Then of course you are going to need a new target for your military operations, Yemen would be a good warm up to Iran... Make damned sure you have powerful special interests set up to profit from these staged events. And by all means use every opportunity to use the media to sell it all yourself to everyone!

If you are successful in this plan, you will divert attention away from your highly unpopular domestic agendas and have Americans and the world focused more on wars and international affairs... Then by the time the American people wake up to what has actually happened you will already have won your reelection in 2012!

Good luck.
