Scott Miller says "numerous" Duke games are at various stages of development.

It's been a rough decade for Duke Nukem (and a particularly tough year for developer 3D Realms), but it looks like 2010 will be the start of a comeback for the flat-topped action hero of so many cringe-inducing one-liners -- or at least that's what 3D Realms has planned. Speaking in the first issue of Gamesauce magazine (via Shacknews), CEO Scott Miller reveals that they have a number of new Duke Nukem games in the works.

"The next few years should see a strong resurgence in Duke," Miller says. "There are numerous other Duke games in various stages of development, several due out this year. We are definitely looking to bring Duke into casual gaming spaces, plus there are other major Duke games in production. Almost all of these [projects] are unannounced."

Not that I'm holding my breath or anything. But we've heard this all before. I've worked for a couple of game companies between 1998 and 2004. www.talonsoft.com and www.take2games.com I'm still bound by confidentiality agreements not to mention certain software titles still in development. {unrelated} to the above mentioned title. Yes it does take that long sometimes to develop and then release titles.

BUT...
Duke has been the running joke in the industry ever since the press release on Duke Nukem Forever was mentioned. I'm still hopeful. We will see if they will finally release something that will take advantage of the latest GPU video architecture either from NVIDIA or ATI. IE PhysX
My only concern would be if they release it with too much motion blur like all the titles that made it a mainstay since DirectX 10
DirectX 10.1 was a waste of time and now with DirectX 11 for Vista and Win 7 Does anybody anticipate a great increase in quality?

Obviously I'm speaking to PC gamers.

I'll believe it when it's installed on my computer and I'm actually playing it.

Until then there's no such thing as a new Duke Nukem game.

I can tell you with certainty that DN:F is coming. It may not be what you've seen for the past 12 years in screenshots, but it's coming. I don't know any of the specifics as to motion blur and what not. It will have the same storyline (if you can call it that) as originally conceived for the title with only minor tweaks.

I'm sure that it will be the flagship title for the Phantom console.

Please....get schooled...

Mr. Broussard and company will be lucky to retain the rights to Duke after this fiasco. He's being sued for millions now that they're broke.

Read about it here...this is how you run a company into the dirt...

He pretty much hosed it completely up. On any project there has to be a point in time where you say, "OK, lets get this thing finished, and out the door." He wasted a lot of time, and a lot of money chasing after the latest technology which required multiple restarts. I can understand wanting to get things perfect, but the whole fiasco went beyond the ridiculous.

Well hopefully they release something this time
Duke Nukem 1 and 2 were good action platformers while Duke Nukem 3D is one of the best First person Shooters ever made. I rather play that game then # like Modern Warfare that takes itself too seriously and wants to be oh so #ing realistic (while beeing completely unrealistic and cliché).

if 3drealms ever does finish dnf, everyone should boycott it.

They really should stop wasting everyones time with releasing these bull# statements, close the coffin lid and leave Duke be a past gaming experience as they keep proving it is.

Never going to happen, end of story

They wasted the fanbase years ago and have nothing left, the smartest thing they could do is just shut up and let it die finally. There is a reason the Duke Nukem franchise became the laughing stock of the video game industry, only thing worse is the Phantom Game Console...
