Less than 24 hours after Gibbs and Napolitano toured the Sunday news shows touting the effectiveness of DHS, Obama's antiterrorism policies, and airline security, DHS Secretary Napolitano appeared on the Today Show and stated that "The System Failed Miserably!"

Dec. 27: Napolitano: "System Worked, Everything Went Like Clockwork

Dec. 28: Napolitano on Today: "System Failed Miserably"

Dec. 28:NPR: "Napolitano Concedes/Explains"

Where's Gibbs on this?

Where's the spineless appeasing sympathizer BHO?

Where's our damned national defense?

This administration(?) will say anything to appease their supporters and sycophants.

They contradict on security. On the economy. On anything.

Yet the faithful kowtow.

Of course, they've got a close watch on all the right-wing dissenters, don't they?

Even watching internet posts for opposition.

Deny ignorance!

I think he's once again on vacation in Hawaii, isn't he? Doesn't it feel he's spending more time on vacation than actually pretending to be President?

These people will say ANYTHING to keep their sham government going.

Healthcare, energy, economy, security and defense; it's all the same bag of lies.

The MSM and "believers" follow along blindly!

No one pays attention to (or they're too afraid to follow) all of the contradictory messages coming from the WH anymore.

Everything coming from this administration serves one purpose only: "Keep the illusion alive as long as possible, by any means necessary."

How many here on ATS are happy to stand up and follow him to the limits?

This will end in a multi-faceted disaster for everything America USED TO stand for!

Look what you've done to my Country.

You people are unreal. 'Back in the day' something like this would be used to the 9ths to whip-up the fear factor. Get the populace all freaked-out. So here we have a situation where the government is trying to scale-back the fear and you people STILL complain. WTF?

What possible good could come from the Presdient or anyone else contributing to the already overkill MSM coverage? Give these aholes even MORE credibility and coverage? To what end?

The situation --- fortunately --- ended well. Now the gov't will go in and bomb the crap out of anything they can find in Yemen (where it originated) and where they have already been bombing the crap out of anything they can find.

This idiot boarded a plane in the Netherlands. That's a foreign country. Not OUR system. Our intelligence systems let the guy on the plane. Despite his family's warnings. Since when is our intelligence services screwing-up news? How do you think we got ourselves in this whole mess to begin with?

So the system worked, so they monitor and destroy millions of lifes, so they can stop 1 plank of wood, with a fire cracker, on a plane.

yep the system works for the murderers, that target innocent people to be monitored and have there lifes ruined all there lifes, so that society can have lenty of murderers in position of power, to kill anyone they want.

Yep the system works. It helps paedophile police keep every one quiet while they watch little kiddies in there homes taking baths, while the policeman jacks off.

You've missed the point entirely. Nothing in the post was about the airline security "system."

It is about the Whitehouse and the Obama Administration's incompetence and fraud, and the MSM and his "beleivers' inability and refusal to point out their complete lack of credibility on ANY issue of importance.

The "official statements" about the incident are contradictory. No one knows what is happening, or they're willing to lie about it.

I didn't say the system worked, or failed..

This administration is a failure, though.

Here's some truth for ya:

Freedom aint free.

Sometimes you pay for it in terrorist attacks. Sometimes you pay for it in propaganda. Some people pay with their lives, their dignity, their possessions, etc.

That is the true cost of being free.

You want to be protected from every little problem that a thinking individual might create, then please, PLEASE say what it is you're asking for -- A NANNY STATE.

Go beg for your nanny state. I want to hear you say those two words.

Cause you can't be free without occasionally dealing with the transgressions of bad people.

Apparently, you are as unable to see the point as your friend above us.

This administration will say ANYTHING to please the faithful and for MSM dissemination.

I don't want a nanny state, and I sure don't want a socialist state and I sure don't want a fascist government-run economy.

What we get from the WH and the MSM are nothing but contradictions to distort or hide the truth.

As for "security," I do not believe Barack Obama gives a damn whether airports, or our borders, are free from terrorists. That sort of furthers his agenda.

Ah, well when you asked about "where is our national defense..." that made me think you were either grasping at straws, or really wanted to know why we can't strip search and xray every single passenger who gets on a plane.. Just saying that it's implausible to stop every crime every time.. Doesn't mean we shouldn't try.. but people will always be able to beat the system, no matter how hard you crack down on criminals and civilians.

It is about the Whitehouse and the Obama Administration's incompetence and fraud, and the MSM and his "beleivers' inability and refusal to point out their complete lack of credibility on ANY issue of importance.

Yup. Reminds me of the Bush years.. And politics in general, for that matter.

Where's the spineless appeasing sympathizer BHO?

Either:
1.) he's cowering in a corner somewhere, hiding behind his wife's skirt, and begging her to save him from those bad terrorists.

or

2.) he's writing a speech, telling the terrorists how SORRY he is that we have been so mean to them under the Bush Administration, and begging them not to attack us under his administration anymore.

He truly is a gutless wonder. What an embarrassment he is to the memory of our Founding Fathers.

All he knows how to do is apologize to our enemies, party at the White House, blame everyone ELSE for our problems, and take vacations. We haven't had a President since January 20th. Instead we have an embarrassment.

What gets me the most is that Janet Napolitano and Robert Gibbs and others in this administration don't hesitate for one second to refer to those who dissent as terrorists, but do they refer to real terrorists as terrorists...no!

This is getting internationally embarassing; the BBC are mocking Napolitano's "elaboration" or "concession" or "correction" or whatever the WH is now calling the gross posturing and cheerleading that substitute for (and are accepted as) "leadership" from the Obama Whitehouse.

Even people from as far away as Zimbabwe are critical not of our "security apparatus," but of our failure to speak out and take responsibility.

So much for our "friends" overseas.

I would think many of you would be glad this is not being used as an excuse to implement
more "security", defending freedom and the like.

On another front why are some of disappointed that nanny state is not going into in full nanny mode?

And lastly I think running around like a terrified chicken is exactly the thing that motivates
them there Terrorists. It could be a personal preference... innate human thing, I personally
think staying cool is a good thing. I remind you all what flailing around created in the past with this government, the proxy tax and life. Reactionary is no good in my opinion

as far as the response, once again... I read constantly that all government is inherently bad and flawed are you surprised or is that a cover story?

Clarification: The explosive was NOT a firecracker or a group of firecrackers. It was PETN - the same thing the shoe bomber tried to detonate, plus a glycol-based liquid explosive.

www.msnbc.msn.com...

Investigators say Umar Farouk Abdulmutallab hid an explosive device on his body when he traveled from Amsterdam to Detroit on Northwest Flight 253. They say PETN was hidden in a condom or condom-like bag just below his torso.

Abdulmutallab also had a syringe filled with liquid. One law enforcement official said the second part of the explosive concoction used in the Christmas Day incident is still being tested but appears to be a glycol-based liquid explosive. The officials spoke on condition of anonymity because they were not authorized to discuss the investigation.

The "firecracker" misnomer happened on the initial thread on Christmas day because some ATS members (not a jab at you) didn't know how to read and comprehend a news story. The guy was trying to set the explosive off and it failed, making a sound "like firecrackers going off".

www.msnbc.msn.com...

"Upon returning to his seat, Abdulmutallab stated that his stomach was upset, and he pulled a blanket over himself. Passengers then heard popping noises similar to firecrackers, smelled an odor, and some observed Abdulmutallab's pants leg and the wall of the airplane on fire," the department stated.

By "this administration" I suggest you are referring to the GWBush era??

Because, if you REALLY want to be honest, and not just Obama-bashing with made up claims at every turn, why not take at look at the most recent past...

Plenty of egregious examples to cite there, coming from THAT White House bag of tricks...

There's nothing "made up" when Geithner says one thing and Romer says the oppsite about "recovery;" just as when Napolitano contradicts herself. "Concedes" then denies "conceding."

Here's some recent past for you:

Nor is there anything made up when DHS issues law enforcement "terrorism" watch lists aimed at dissenters, then denies they did, then retracts them. Then issues them again.

The list goes on: Illegal alien amnesty; no illegal alien amnesty.

No healthcare for aliens; aliens are entitled to buy in.

We will not pay bonuses from TARP and bailout $$. Except for AIG. And GM. And almost everyone else who got TARP $$.

Deny ignorance. Embrace ignorance.

No, deny it.

Why continue to bash the GWB administration era? The Obama administration is providing more than enough material for people to become equally disgusted with what Obama and his ilk are doing.

I still wonder, why should the president have to report on a near tragedy? What's the point? If it had blown up I could see it. But it didn't. The guy got caught, no one died, and now he gets to face justice. But somehow the right has to portray it as a failure on the White House's part.

You people are pissed because you feel America is becoming a nanny state, then your pissed because the government isn't doing enough to be a nanny state. You would be pissed if he came on the air 5 microseconds after the incident broke, but you pissed to find out that he waited till he could get the facts straight.

Whine bitch and moan some more why don't you? Y'all sound like a nagging wife for crying out loud, I thought the right was supposed to be the tough wing. Not a bunch of crybabies.

The only thing I've portrayed is this administration's inability to get its story straight.

Not a week goes by when the WH isn't trying to manipulate the public on its favorite agenda issues: energy, healthcare, economy. We get one story to move a certain group and a different story to manipulate another, and they all follow like the lobotomized sheep they are.

I don't care if BHO says another word.

I just find it endlessly amusing and perversely satisfying to watch the puppet master pull the strings and all the marionettes dance.

Now, hop to it Pinocchio.

That's the world of politics for you.

It's just lucky that there was no explosion, and the guy is caught and is able to face justice.

It's obvious that a lot went wrong, Probably has a lot to do with TSA not having a director at the moment.

The father apparently reported his son as a threat a year ago. However one also has to remember that he is also a Nigerian Banker and If those two words popped up in an email to me, I would have most likely immediately deleted the email.
