I know it makes ATS users feel important to imagine the "government" monitors them, but I really don't believe the government has any interest in this site.

I think the ptb have more interest in a site like this than you think.

Considering the fact that anyone in the world could post classified/sensitive information on here and have it viewed by thousands if not millions of people - yeah I agree

Yeah I'm sure the intelligence services are busy reading about Charlie Sheen,
astral projecting, and all the other gems on ATS today. Sometimes I wonder if everyone here is 13 years old. I know if I had secret info, the first place I'd go is ATS! A website few people have heard of and fewer view! THAT makes sense!

Thanks for the concern mate

I am not affiliated with any agency I can assure you that, hell I don't even have a general job as it stands.

I am purely anonymous on the Internet, nobody could trace me, not even the MODs on the forum. Let's just say I have a bunch of tricks up my sleeve and there is no way they could triangulate my position. Plus I am overseas

Indeed, disable your browser to accept cookies. When I log into ATS it states I can't because I need to enable cookies, then I just click on "login" again and everything is fine. A Pop-up only occurs if we click on certain blank areas of the ATS website. I have had 6,500 word posts disappear due to mistakenly clicking on empty space

If you are worried about your own computer security or malware etc, then just use a proxy or something to relay the information to this site.

Most people here are middle aged or in their twenties. Its only of recent there has been an overwhelming of "n00bs" on ATS.

ATS would actually be the perfect place to post secret information. ATS is not a website few people have heard of or fewer view. Infact since 1997 millions of people have read the website. Its the biggest conspiracy website in the world. Its more famous than you think.

..and yes I agree this site is being watched, we are entering an information war.

Yeah mate, a lot; Ive seen about 5-6 in the last few days posting on threads. Us Irish are the most awake country in the world I think.

Is that the Oxegen concert in your avatar? Nice one, I seen James Brown there a few months before he died. That weekend was the best, we had the Chili Peppers there too, as well as The Who.

Yeah I guess they do have a few tricks aswell. Put it this way though, if they come knocking (no reason too) then they will be knocking on the wrong door lol. Lets just say I have no physical address (MAC Address) and no IP Address that even comes close to my house. Tunnels, Proxies, and then some remote computer all via an unknown telephone line that I connect to via a wireless antenna that is well over a mile away from my house. That plus my SNORT Box and IDS (Intrusion Detection System) with a Cisco firewall...and many other things I wont mention

I have personally used the site to bust 2 potential terror suspects, The new drug forum is a literal gold mine of information and we've added 373 people to the terrorist watch list and gotten wire taps and surveillance approved on 63 others...

And that's just my agency, there are At least 4 other agencies from The United States alone I have collaborated with.

We particularly both start threads and look for threads which encourage potentially violent offenders to creep out of the wood works, once you state your willing to fight or encourage violence we basically have rights under the patriot act to follow you. watch you, tap your phones computer or almost anything else we like including detain you. All it takes is verification via your computer... which we immediately have the right to do directly in your home the moment you leave if you make threats.

If you believe me you really need to take a prescription for anxiety or paranoia btw.

Indeed, your completely correct regarding those crimes.

To a further extent, I would suspect BotNets to harvest this entire forum on a weekly/daily basis then it is probably flagged or not flagged by humans. I would imagine this whole scenario of using ATS to track people would only be used if there actually was a terrorist here on ATS wanting to know how to make bombs or what not. Or even information that could expose the CIA or NSA, even documents from DARPA that are not meant for public eyes.

Anything that is truly "private eyes only" will be monitored and flagged on this site.

For what its worth this place is monitored to a certain extent, but the main answer lays within mopusvindictus' post above mine.

In ireland most of the latest drug and tobacco busts have been due to a new law passed to recoord voice and text tramsmission..
Its called the criminal justace act it also allows trial without a jury for gangmembers.. But where is the line drawn at gangmembers if things get real bad over the next ten years and people try to rebel for whatever reason they will just be labeled gang members and put in jail for the rest of der lives without a jury..

Yeah, the fact is that conspiracy theories are quite mainstream, not some in the know minority secret society. Look at the ads on ATS, jeeez, Mel Gibson made a movie about it years ago. So why would intelligence agencies waste their time on something as ordinary as ATS? For what purpose? To detect disgruntled citizens? Then what? It makes no sense. Are they interested in our UFO theories? Bigfoot? Paul McCartneys faked death? Reptilian celebs?
There are planty of really scary sites out there to monitor, NAZI's, child porn etc. Why do you imagine they would bother with something as mainstream and non threatening as ATS?

You know, it's ironic; you apparently said this as a joke, but many of these things HAVE actually happened to me, for real.

Call me "paranoid" or whatever names you want, but Big Brother IS watching. I know it's true based on the experiences I've had.

Care to elaborate? What could you possibly have posted that would cause "BIG BROTHER" to devote time. money and resorces to you?
Just curious.

Well, this is a really uncomfortable subject for me and I really don't want to go into too many specifics.

But to give you one example, one time I got onto a subway car and there was a big, tough looking guy sitting there waiting for me and he said "The General says I'm supposed to fight you......"

Ummm, I'm really sorry about that, 'General' !!!

And I've had many other sinister experiences that lead me to believe that my cell phone's been tapped, computer hacked into, etc etc.

As for why they choose to torment people in this way instead of just killing them, I have no idea. They don't want the police involved perhaps?

My, my. Aren't we in a good mood today? You've got that hat pin out and bursting bubbles every which way.

I think there is some truth. I think "they" take a look to see what the peons are thinking. Pick up cues when to do damage control. I'm sure they do it all over the net, facebook, twitter.

Makes sense.

I agree with you, take a peak at my previous posts. I loved that Mel Gibson film, especially the start; although Mel totally did too much emphasis of the characteristics of a conspiracy theorist, then again in the film he really was tortured.
Intelligence agencies don't waste their time, period. I know conspiracies are mainstream, but when a conspiracy is in fact the truth and could cause disruption (for anything including an election of a Senator etc) then they would be monitored.

I guess what I am trying to say is I agree that websites such as ones who host illegal files or insane/disturbed child photos are the main types of servers that are monitored. Although, there are different departments in computer crime/cyber crime and of course data mining agencies. TPTB would bother with mainstream (mainstream? ATS? Are you serious?) websites like ATS only if there was a threat. Just like any website, Facebook etc. Every single website in the world is monitored.

With the amount of people here on ATS would completely spread information to everyone they know about something that they read on the forums IF it was a serious major info-leak which suddenly disappeared (deleted from forum). For example, serious evidence that TPTB were responsible for 9/11. Then and only then would these monitoring officers act.

There really is private corporations that are created to analyze packets of information that contain keywords that have been flagged from the Echelon computer system that is a super computer that searches for keywords.

EDIT: You said the following to another member:

Thanks for saying that because I can relate to that statement a lot and I agree with you 100% with it.

I ask that exact question to a friend of mine who is serious paranoid all the time. Paranoid people need this exact statement said to them, it is the best way to get them out of their paranoia. I am not saying that the member you are replying to is paranoid, I am just saying that my friend (who I havent seen in years) is seriously paranoid to a point where he thought I was "one of them", an agent, out to get him
Even though he ha been friends with me for like 10 years. So, the post that OldDragger posted containing the above quote, I advise people that have paranoid friends or are paranoid themselves; to review that statement and repeat it to themselves over and over again.
"Why would TPTB spend millions of dollars and over 10 years with an entire flock of staff to monitor an average person who knows nothing different than anyone else who can use Google"?
