Spare a thought for those on their own this Christmas

I will be spending Christmas alone and actually loving it. I don't believe that Christmas is a load of crap, as one poster asserts, but during these hectic days, the more time I can spend in peace, the better.

Christmas is a wonderful time for families to visit and to share the joy of the season, whether it is for religious or secular reasons. In fact, I think that it is wonderful that Christmas can be celebrated by anyone of any religion or even those with no religion.

The spirit of giving and the joy to be seen in a child's eyes when he opens his presents is something any normal person can and should appreciate.

However, there are those of us for whom Christmas is a time for quiet reflection and that is a good thing, too.

Then again, there are those who will be alone on Christmas who will be missing the opportunity to be with others and for those who desire to do so, spending some time with these folks is a very honorable thing to do.
