Thank you Joe of the Mountain and greetings to you as well;

I am not sure if there is actually a liberty gene or not, but if there is I suspect that all of us have it, and what distinguishes "them" from "us", us being people such as the original poster or the patient and wise one who carries the Columbo avatar, or you or I, is that we recognize power to be a more subtle and shared characteristic than "they" do. I believe, just like liberty, we all posesses the need for power and indeed, we do posess power.

I think the problem is, that there are those who lust for power in such a way they have come to believe the only way to have it is by denying others their power. They do not abhor freedom, they cherish it as much as anyone, and they do not advocate many regulatory laws because they wish to serve, but because they imagine it is they who should be served. They do not advocate regulatory laws to prohibit their own freedom, but to prohibit ours.

Perhaps you are right and no good will come of association from them, however there is little concern of any genuine association happening as it is rarely they who seek the association, and usually they who will reject or ignore any offers of friendship or peace. That doesn't mean we shouldn't try, our Forefathers made mighty attempts to negotiate a peaceful revolution, even after the War of 1776 began, but it was rejected at all times.

There are those who wish to frame revolution as an anarchistic and violent form of change through the use of arms. They miss the very real history of revolutions when they take this perception as the Industrial Revolution, the Sexual Revolution and even more poigniantly the Velvet Revolution in Poland were all mechanisms of change were violence was held at bay...by those who sought liberty, not so much by those who lusted for power beyond that which they all ready had.

At some point, perhaps the battle lines will have to be clearly drawn, if they have not all ready been, but there must always be, at all times, those willing to negotiate peace. Never a peace at the expense of freedom, but always a willingness to negotiate a reasonable peace, if not a lasting one.

Thanks for entering the fray and sharing your thoughts and Merry Christmas to all of you and Happy New Year!

Don't believe me? Search the margin of which Obama won by. Compare that margin to the number of volunteers ACORN had working or helping in each state, then average in about 10 acts of election fraud per volunteer in each state and devide that in half and there is your margin of VICTORY.

Come on this is Bull, Obama was elected by the majority of people, this fascination with Acorn, Muslims, Socialism; the like serves as a distraction as it is utilizes base emotional brain and visceral reaction. Fill your own head with underhanded crap and ignore the perfectly legitimate collection of thing you can contest and detest via discussion.

Please BE SPECIFIC - what freedom have YOU lost personally?

Please list it and explain what you are NO LONGER able to do, think or express that you could this time last year?

We all want to see it - this goes for all of you who are the rightful owners, definers and dispensers of liberty.

--->>> Edit: Not directed at you Janky Red, accidentally hit reply!
Its funny to read some of these replies. They are quite knee-jerk and have no substance other than...DEMOCRAT! REPUBLICAN! Come on folks, use that gray matter squished between your brain and separate the emotions for just a moment before you answer.

You will be surprised at what you will be able to cognitively muster up!

Now, reading through and I am lazy and don't like to have multiple windows open, but Joe?, I believe with the idea of a 'liberty gene' is an excellent theory. We see such observation throughout history and even today, on everyday Main Street. There are those that honestly believe they are endowed with Rights. (I am not arguing where those Rights derive from, but obviously it is not Man. Nuff said.) Then there are others that honestly believe they must offer themselves to the pack. Individualism Vs. Collectivism is an age old question.

In regards to revolution vs. treason, I will have to agree that the terms are dependent upon which side you are on. The South, according to the North, were acting in treason. To the South, it was the North that should be held to treason for there ever reaching policies into State affairs.

To some of the other replies, there can be unlawful legislation. Just because Congress is granted the ability through the Constitution to draft legislation, does not give them a blank check to willfully put up legislation that is known to directly contradict Constitutional authority. This is the reason we have the ability to amend the Constitution. Alas, why amend when you can sidestep the Constitution and know you can get away with it?

While revolution I believe is eventually inevitable and unavoidable; even in today's modern society, I do believe power will swing to the States once more, as it has in the past. It is an unintended consequence of the structure of our government. A constant push-pull of power between two entities, just right now, the Federal side holds a lot of cards because of numerous reason (i.e, Federal Highway Act, which alone strong arms States to give up soverigenty to the Federal government in the name of money.)

I dont know what Country you live in but America is not a Democracy! It is a Constitutional Republic. The moment you declare it a democracy you have tossed aside the Constitution and 51% of the vote could deprive 49% of their god given right to Life, Liberty, and The pursuit of Happiness.

You are right old dragger. Why argue semantics.

Like freedom, slavery, they mean the same thing.

Life, death, they are the same.

Life, Liberty and my God given right to Pursue Happiness(originally meant to be property), but the framers were looking forward to the day of removing slavery.

My labor is mine, not yours, not some welfare recipient, not the congress, not the Supreme Courts, and to hell not Bush's or Obama's.

The gauntlet has been laid. I will not bow no longer, to tyrannical laws to separate me from MY labor.

Enough is enough.

A Republic is a form of governance with laws.
A Democracy is a form of governance based upon the will of a simple majority.

Why is it that the federal government declares that we have a democracy?
Remember, the word democracy is not in the constitution.
The reason is, our federal government is owned by the financial oligarchy which also controls the mainstream media which also controls "mainstream" thought.
This is important.
If "mainstream" thought is controlled, you have a PLURALITY which is all you have to have in a democracy, and you control the DEMOCRACY.
NO RULE OF LAW.

Because of the internet, the best laid plans of mice and men failed.

For now....

And we could argue over the meaning of:

Patriot

Extremist

right winger

sheeple, swine

uneducated masses

And a whole lot more! But why? You have no point really, so why bother!

Not naming names, but many posts here remind me of an old joke.
A guys is driving by a mental institution when he has a flat tire. he has the tire changed when he knocks all the lug nuts down into a stream. A man watching from inside the fence of the institution says "Hey, don't worry! Just take a nut off the other three wheels, you will be fine until you get to a garage!"
"That's brilliant", replied the driver, "you don't belong in there"
"Hey" replied the patient, "they put me in here cause I'm crazy, not because I'm stupid!"
Looking forward to your logical reply.

Heh, subliminally you have named names
. Look at your list and what was excluded and what was included.

Not really caring except pointing out that your list is skewed even if you attempted not to skew it.

Kind of like.....Donkeys, Jack-Asses, Democrats, Bed-Wetters, Tree-Huggers......I'm not naming names, I am just giving examples.

The very notion of the list shows that names were named.

Just having a little fun

Call me crazy, (hehehehe), but the election of a President as mandated by the U.S. Constitution, is done so through electoral college, a decidedly undemocratic process. U.S. Senators were once chosen by the states legislatures rather than through popular election as they are now due to an Amendment that is dubious in its validity. While there are some characteristics of a representative democracy, that the Founders refused to recognize the concept, let alone use the word "AS CONTAINED IN THE U.S. CONSTITUTION", should speak volumes to the "republican form of government" that was guaranteed.

Thanks Ownbestenemy, good to see you as well and happy holidays. I just read through that thread and I am unsure what you meant by "I believe we take a different stand". From what I gathered in the thread you provided, you are asking pertinent questions as to what form of government we have actually become, and I think that is a very valid question.

Since Woodrow Wilson first announced to the world that we, (the U.S.), must make the world safe for democracy, the U.S. has moved ever closer to a democracy and further away from the Constitutional republic we were provided. The legal plunder that takes place in the form of "income" taxation and other various forms of taxation that allow for wealth redistrubution has further eroded the principles of the Constitutional republic provided for us by our Founders.

I am not exactly sure where you stand on this issue, so not clear where we agree or disagree. I would love to hear your thoughts though.

Politics has been politics since time began, just because you are "ignorant" of how the world works doesn't mean you have figured anything out. Spare me the teen drama of discovering 'life is not fair, money is power"!

Attack huh, is that all you know.

I have not broached the subject of the differences between democracy and constitutional republic, because all of the other commenters have covered it quite swell.

It seems you had stuck your foot, in your quite endowed mouth, in the beginning of this thread and now are attempting numerous fallacies to try to avoid your accepting your mistake.

Let me explain it in terms even you may understand.

When a president or congress in a DEMOCRACY are elected, they may pass ANY LAWS mandated by the masses.

In a CONSTITUTIONAL REPUBLIC they may pass laws that DO NOT encroach on the STATED RESTRICTIONS set forth in that CONSTITUTION.

NOW THE POINT OF MY THREAD!

THE GOVERNMENT OF THE US, has been passing UNLAWFUL(unConstitutional if you want the simple explanation-but UNLAWFUL has a much more rich path than just our Constitution-it basically has to do WITH GOD'S LAW) legislation for numerous decades. LAWS against our DAMN RIGHTS.

This is why I posted this thread.

NOW GO BACK AND READ MY INITIAL POST!

I am just guessing here, but based upon your provacations I think you saw the warn button on Donny's avatar and willfully attempted to provoke that user into responding in a way that would earn him a second warning. Don't fall for it, Donny. Keep your cool and respond with reason and patience. Never let them drag you down.
