I can tell you that it is BS, big time BS, I live in Jacksonville, and with 5 airports, 1-International, 3-Military, and 1 private, there are always reports, that is to be expected with so many airports. We also have St. Mary's nuclear sub base about 30 miles north of us.

With the weather we have been having, especially high overcast, there are many times when aircraft have a tendency to take on unusual characteristics; especially at night.

Sorry; not trying to shoot you. But hope you can understand, I have had people stand right next to me and tell me "Look; is that an UFO?" and all it usually turns out to be is either one of the several police helo's hovering high enough to not be heard and with the spotlight on, or some small slower plane flying through high level overcast. I've live here half of my life and was born here.

Also to be considered, one of the GoodYear Blimps are stored here in Jacksonville, as funny as the blimp looks, it is not an UFO

Actually Misoir lives very close to 2 main military airbases and 1 private airport, and 1 medical heliport; they would have a better opportunity to see an UFO due to the close proximity of military bases.

Of course one must also understand that testing of new and experimental aircraft is rarely done in the Jacksonville area; this area is predominately logistics and maintenance. Because of this; UFO sighting might be much less than an area in which military bases regularly test new and experimental aircraft.

I happen to live in between the International airport and 1 naval logistics and maintenance base, as well as Coast Guard, Sheriffs, Customs, Homeland defense, and 2 medical heliports. I have witnessed several questionable occurrences, but upon taking the time to watch diligently, I have so far always found a logical explanation. Of course that doesn't rule out the possibility of UFO's or others witnessing them; however, and I think I can speak for Misoir in this, So far we have not witnessed any UFO's; as any questionable sights have led to logical explanations. Key words here, "so far", that can change at any time.

I would say that Jacksonville, Fl is not a "Hot Spot" for UFO activity or sightings as there are several places that receive many more sightings a month than this area does in a year. Of course with 3 local military bases and the nations largest Nuclear Sub base just 30 miles away, UFO sightings can be expected, just not by everyone.

I can understand both what yourself and Misoir are saying, so hope that this can help diffuse any misunderstandings or misinterpretations

Don't get me wrong here, I'm not trying to say that UFO's don't exist and are not seen by people; I am saying that the title to your thread is IMHO incorrect pertaining to Jacksonville being a "hotspot". Even the full list, which by the way I've seen before, is still nowhere indicative of a "hotspot" as there are quite a few places which receive a list that long or longer each month; not annually.

Also several of those reports are indicative of overactive imaginations.

2009-07-18 - Observed an object strobeing red, white, & blue at altitude & distance, stationary for appx. 20 mins.
2009-01-02 - WE WERE LOOKING OUTSIDE FROM THE SIDEWALK AND WE SAW A BRIGHT LIGHT THAT WAS FLASHING BLUE AND RED AND IT WAS NOT MOVING

Red & Blue ummmmm how about police cars, at night especially with any dew or overcast, flashing red and blue from police cars will appear to reflect of the cloud cover or be widely dispersed in the air with dew fall. I see it all the time around my neighborhood- seems like a logical explanation

I could go on with more of them, however there are some that are just possibly unexplainable and some that seem to be quite out there.

All in all though the title stating Jacksonville as a possible hotspot is what I'm actually attempting to debate here. With a high # of military bases; it is safe to believe that if UFO's are piloted by aliens, they would want to watch this area to some degree especially Mayport Naval Base and St. Mary's Submarine Base.

My debate in short is- when one considers the population density in Jacksonville compared to the number of reports- it is safe to say that Jacksonville is not an hotspot, we do however have the occasional unexplained incident.

Papa please dont get me wrong you make some valued and valid point's yes there can be misidentifications due to many circumstances one of the simplest being of people having shall we say a few too many sherberts and seeing lets say police lights red white blue but also remember there are probably just as many sightings unreported and possibly due to similar reasons to the one suggested ! But possibly down to the age old reason of fear of ridicule ! These examples are the ones i know of perhaps if i dig further i could find more ! I will dig deeper but not now as ive been up 39 hrs solid ! Please dont ask ! ha ha ha ! I value your input cheers and Merry Christmas to you !
