They are way outdated and impossible ...

You want to apply these 200-year old nonsense to a world that not only does not need it / but also it's impossible to apply it ..

CLUELESS!!!

You are more than welcome to hate it - in fact, LEAVE!!! Then you will not have to deal with pesky individual rights, freedom or a government legally required to represent the people! Nobody is trying to apply these documents to the world, we are applying them to the FREE peoples of the United States. They are far from "outdated" and are only "impossible" when government seeks to exercise authority that the people NEVER granted it. You would do well to find the time to get a clue!!!

So by them voting yes for obamacare they would be engaging in treason by breaking they're oath and violating the Constitution. By all right the military according to they're oath should step in and defend this nation from the enemy within.

Ah, the ignorati strikes again. Read the freakin'Constitution and U S Code which defines and limits treason to acts of war. And by all means have the military jump in and abrogate November 2008's vote.

Congress is regulating commerce. not medicine.
read your Constitution Obama haters, it's specifacly mentioned as a power of Congress.
The issue with healthcare reform is monetary. That's why the corrupt Repubs and Insurance companies care about it. Oh, and let's throw in some Democrats too! And Lieberman is bought and paid for by insurance.
I'd like to see this imbecile argue this in court. He'll do just as well as Orly
IT"S ALL ABOUT MONEY! IT"S ALWAYS ABOUT MONEY!

Another uneducated and uninformed American!

Obviously you haven't bothered to read the Constitution! Congress has the right to regulate INTER-STATE COMMERCE - NOT commerce!
That is commerce BETWEEN and AMONG the states, not WITHIN the states.

Folks, Old Dagger is another perfect example of the product of public indoctrin... er, education!

So, if it's illegal, who's going to enforce the letter of the law? The Supreme Court?

We The People collectively through our duly chosen representatives as it should be in a Republic. That's what this is all about.

The Government is only supposed to have the power we give it No more Period.

The only thing that I am getting from this thread is the fact that there are a whole bunch of people that have no idea what the Constitution actually says and / or what it means.

It's all moot anyway bigots. The vote, which if anyone actually read the news rather than being Foxed, was not on the plan itself but was on cloture, is over. You lost again, Rethuglicans.

Bigots!? Nice ad hominem... I guess grade school must be on "Winter" break, eh?
Are you like 12 years old??? Thank God I'll be dead when this bill finally bankrupts America and brings it into third-world status. Have fun with that... if the government decides you're worthy enough to keep alive that long anyway!

So, are you feeling represented? If not change it. If you can't change it, then it's time to self reflect. And come to the conclusion that it is possible that you are in the minority within your representatives constituency.

Let’s see, how do I call you a moron in a civilized manner? Well civility is really “outdated and impossible” anyway don’t you think? Maybe you, your likeminded friends, and your offspring should consider moving to a more suitable location for your beliefs. I hear China has lovely weather this time of year. They love open minded and out spoken people like you!

How about that bill of rights? The first amendment is what allows you to have your say here. Let's get rid of that out-dated thing first. Sorry for the sarcasm.

I am a very strong supporter of Universal Healthcare and I am a Republican. I sent this letter to my senators, Mr. Bill Nelson and Mr. George LeMieux. So now they have been warned if they vote for this autrocity that they will be breaking the highest law in the nation.

Hey, while you're out there getting a clue, get a grip as well!

Why should I google insurance companies??? What does that have to do with forcing through a bill that they have no legal authority to pass or enforce? Seems you're having some difficulty staying on topic and backing up your utter crap responses!
I can appreciate that those unwilling or unable to take on personal responsibility would like big-daddy government to care for them, so move to Cuba!!! Those of us who appreciate freedom and are not afraid to look out for ourselves do not want nor do we need a nanny-state. This country was founded on freedom and you can bet your sweet a** that the majority of us will fight to keep it that way!

I'm willing to buy you and your ilk a one-way ticket to Cuba - consider it a Christmas gift!

God forbid that our kids can now expect to be cared for in the event that they get hurt. Damn man I really liked the good old days when a kid could crash and get left hanging if they were not insured. What has the world come to? My father in law just found out he has cancer, thank god they didn’t pass they health care stuff yet!

If nothing else the health care stuff is a guarantee that if you or any of your family is hurt then they will be cared for. Yeah it’s a socialist program, but what would America really be without the social services. I imagine you would see large portions of the populous living in the dirt for lack of a better word. Maybe tent cities all over the place. Why exactly would you deny us Medical Care?

The social services have made this country what it is today, and have helped to cement a standard of living which we are very accustom to. God Speed on health care reform!

they could have allowed the current health care providers to compete across state lines so they could use the interstate commerce regulation, but if they allowed them to compete the rates would have probably dropped and would have given the government no reason to intervene.

With ever increasing numbers of posts like this one, ATS is fast becoming more and more like a chain email that circulates among senior citizens and church groups. Not only is this a legal stretch of the imagination, it is clearly just spewing desperate right wing talking points.

Legislators violate the constitution everyday of the year in just about every bill that is written so I really don't see how this argument works, even though it is a good argument.

Oh I don't advocate denying or giving up on anything. I just don't see that anyone of us will effect any sort of legal consequences for the criminals in Washington.
Not until the bullets start flying anyways.

Now that's a good solution. Anarchy always works so well...

S + F great Post. Just sent copies to Senators Reed and Whitehouse from The State of Rhode Island and Providence Plantations, with a few excerpts from the RI constitution.
