I would like to see Jesus take back Christmas from that evil old elf of greed myself but, this may be taking things a little too far.

Fox News

A California neighborhood reportedly is up in arms after a resident decorated his lawn with a depiction of Jesus shooting Santa Claus.

The controversial Christmas display shows Jesus pointing a double-barrel shotgun at Santa's dead body as Rudolph lays sprawled across the hood of a pickup truck nearby, WNCT reported.

Neighbors in Nipomo, Calif., called for the display to be removed, but its maker Ron Lake called it a work of art — in which Santa represents the commercialization of Christmas, the station reported.

"It's an expression of my repressed creativity," Lake told WNCT.

Police said that because Lake built the display on private property they cannot force him to take it down. Some residents plan to start a petition, the station reported.

I'm all for the sentiment behind this display. I hope they don't force him to take it down.

If anyone can find a picture of this please post it here. I'd love to see this one.

LOL i was aughing my ass off on this, becuase i think its effin talneted and hialrious...for MANY MANY years, i have always wanted to make a snow sculpture, right where my property boarders the sidewalk, of a 10 foot tall snowman, evil eyes, frown on face, and makeing sexual gestures...grabbing his crotch thins like that...little something for the lcoal boring neighbors around me.

Thier wa a guy years ago, who every year, would build a VERY big snowman, he used beer bottles to make the eyes, it was that huge..he was ordered by court, to not build it anymore, becuase when it melted the streets woudl be somewhat flooded..read it on aol news last year.

All in all, its just two imaginary characters. One imaginary character intended for children, the other for adults.

Modern day celebration of Christmas is a joke and this person made a piece that represents this. Is it in poor taste, well maybe. Is it completely out of line, I think not. It's their right to point out the commercialization of what should be a religious holiday.

yeah, way to make a point there scrooge, i'm sure all the young children in the neighborhood loved the display, jesus shoots santa, really takes things back to what christmas is all about, peace on earth, goodwill to all men and the innocence of a babe in a manger.

if you find that christmas is to commercial for your tastes then make the choice to not participate in the commercial aspects, i don't understand the need to ram your bad mood down everybodies throat?

misery loves company eh?

I found a video showing the display.

I had a good chuckle at this S+F from me. Come now it isn't that dis-tasteful. If he would have included several more dead reindeer with Mohamad straped with dynamite and Budha with a crossbow then I would have a problem with it LOL.

Double barrelled shotgun? What?

I mean, didn't R. Yehoshua bar Yosef the Galilean Nazir (Gk. 'Iesous') arm his disciples with SWORDS on the hill when he was arrested for armed sedition against the maiestas of Rome and the 'divine' Roman Emperor Tiberius at Pesach, 36 CE at the 100th anniversary of the Roman Invasion of the General Pompey in 63 BCE? (for 'Iesous' arming his disciples, read Luke chapter 22: vv 35-39)

Now if someone these days is going to depict a Failed Davvidic-Pretender Messianic Nazir ('branch' of David, see Zech 6:9) in front of SinterKlaus or whatever Solstice-Father Time Figure you choose to use with his Red & White Fly Agaric Mushroom Coloured Suit, shouldn't they at least have the historical decency to put a couple of NICE LONG SHARP SWORDS into his hands like the real 'Iesous' was armed with?

But then again, look how THAT turned out.....

I laughed so hard I couldn't contain it. I fell off my comfy couch overwhelmed. I say let hm keep it up . It ain't free speech if no one is offended. I'm not even Christian and I found it tamer than something you see and hear on the mass media.

The rhetoric may be a little harsh, but the man didn't shoot anyone, he expressed himself. Either it's all ok or none of it is.

Yeah, I mean to tell ya, it's a gut buster.
I fail to see the humor in the continuing desensitization of the American public.

I choked on my Pepsi when I read this.

That's all we need. Teach our children to be violent like Jesus. Talk about making God in man's likeness.

Still, I couldn't help laughing. It's so outrageous.

I'm all for free-speech, but it could seriously confuse the kids. I don't think Jesus would like it either, or Santa.

Woah, The Church stole Christmas from the Pagans like they did with many current holidays such as Easter. If you have read the Bible, and understand history, you will know that Jesus was born in the Spring, no where near the time we celebrate Christmas. You would also know that the tale of his resurrection was not added to the bible until 600 years after his death. Easter was created to steal the Pagan spring celebration, and the resurrection was created to impress the gullible.

Jesus was a good man with much to teach us. Didn't Jesus tell people to turn their swords into plows and to end the senseless violence? Didn't Jesus believe in forgiveness and that only God can judge others? Hating Santa Clause is very unChristian behavior. Typical false "Christian" attempt to force their false values onto society once again. Santa is for kids. No need to over commercialize Christmas, nor to demonize it. Just celebrate the Winter Solstice and enjoy the holidays.

(Oh man, will I ever get attacked for the above statements. I do not mean to offend, but when someone shoots Santa and poor ol' Rudolph, you have to wonder if there is any rational sanity left.)

Yay! Freedom of Expression! The First Amendment! Hoot! Hoot!

BTW, lawful petitions submitted to the government are to redress grievances with the government itself, not enforce an unlawful loss of Rights on another Citizen! Lawful exercise of Rights can never be converted to a crime! This is a Constitutional ruling from the Supreme Court!

Any offense taken at another's lawful exercise of Rights is the offense of the individual, not the one who exercises their Rights! As one has the Right to Free Expression, another has the Right to ignore it & even express your complaints about it, but not to act against it! Take that you Law-Breaking Socialists who set up petitions against thine Freeman neighbors!

Not by me...You have exercised your Right to Free Expression & whether or not I agree (even though I do agree) with your opinions is no excuse to attack you for it. As the saying goes, "Even if I don't agree with what you say, I will defend to the death your Right to say it."

Well, that's only because the parents would be at a loss on how to explain Rights under Law to kids...So the parents use aggression & hate to cover their ignorance...

...Of course Santa didn't like it...Can't you tell by the "X's" over his eyes? Rudolph didn't look too happy either.

What's there to attack? You just stated facts. However, people tend to ignore facts when it comes to dealing with the fervor of what they have been told all of their lives. Of course, anyone who has taken the time, as you apparently have, to look into things for themselves, knows that we have been lied to most of our lives.
