We need to get more basic here. You have a group of people that wants a whole country to follow their agendas even when they are extreme as we have seen with Russia, China, Crusades, Germany, Japan, Middle East, America, so on and so on… They need a motivator, and there are basically 2 forms, religion or nationalism. When either of these are the motivators it is time to sharpen the axes for bad# is about to happen on a grand scale.

Does anyone really think the Christian Crusades was really about religion? Maybe to the poor sucker down in the trenches, but not to the leaders driving it. The same goes for Russia or China with their nationalism, killing a few 100 million was about the personal agendas of a few elite, and not uniting a country where everyone is equal. Hitler was also a perfect example of a person using nationalism as a motivator that took a country that was having the worst depression in history to a huge powerhouse that morphed into a horror story of humans at their worst.

Correct me if I'm wrong here but didn't the Soviets also invade Afghanistan and loose something to the tune of 18000+ soldiers in roughly the same amount of time that we have lost like 4000 soldiers in both Iraq and Afghanistan?

Absolutely correct, that does not make it morally right.

A great many, that does not make it morally right either.

As far as Agent Orange I would agree that it was a mistake. Our own soldiers suffer from that mistake. As far as depleted Uranium. Do you have any proof to back up the myth that the shells used for anti tank weapons in the first few days have carried over any lingering health issues? Or is that just simply more speculation?
[edit on 19-12-2009 by SLAYER69]

Precisely the same thing was said about Agent Orange, however many studies have been done on "Gulf War Syndrome" vis.

June 2, 2007

The term "Gulf War Syndrome" is now known world-wide – but - after the 1991 Iraq war, as formerly A1 fit soldiers fell ill with debilitating symptoms, in their thousands, the cause was, for two years, a "mystery". It was in 1993, when a group of twenty-four affected soldiers approached Professor Asav Durakovic, one of the world's leading experts in the effects of radiation, that a cause came to light. They had many times the "safe" level of chemically toxic and radioactive depleted uranium (DU) in their bodies. Duracovic, although a senior officer in the US army during the first Gulf war, had been unaware that the weapons used had contained depleted uranium. "I was horrified", he said: "I was a soldier, but above all I am a doctor." By 1997, it was estimated that ninety thousand US
veterans were suffering from Gulf War Syndrome.

America has 6% of the worlds population, where did you get your information from? I realize Mexicans want to cross your border but that is not the rest of the world.

Given a choice between europe, and usa, do you people think there is much difference?

Americans are like, everyone wants to come to our country, no i do not. I suppose alot are like me, and see your country for what it is.

Most people around the world, are like most americans, care only about watching goofy hollywood movies, and thinking thats america.

Are you telling me America is now a commnuist country, or even socialist? i'm sure if you take trip to the Mall at this time of year you will see capitalism is alive and well in the USA

very well said, its saddening to see how many of us are brainwashed in to thinking that our country has done nothing wrong. I would go as far as saying if it weren't for our country the world would be in a much better state. The majority of the elites live and work out of the USA don't they?

from Wiki
In 1998, Chávez was elected president after a vigorous campaign, in contrast with the feeble discourse of the weakened traditional parties' candidates.[19] His reform program, which he later called the "Bolivarian Revolution", was aimed at redistributing the benefits of Venezuela's oil wealth to the lower socio-economic groups by using it to fund programs such as health care and education, but has encountered great criticism by the previous establishment. In April 2002 he suffered a coup d'état.[20] He was returned to power after two days as a result of popular demonstrations in his favour and actions by the military.[21] Chávez has also survived an all-out national strike that lasted more than two months in December 2002 – February 2003, including a strike/lockout in the state oil company PDVSA, and a recall referendum in August 2004. He was elected for another term in December 2006.
end wiki

Seems his people like him, Venezuela is a sovereign country, the people seem to like his version of socialism. Why is that bad?

I guess it all depends on who is conquering who and on what grounds...

I don't see america making a big fuss about capitalist dictatorships and don't tell me this isn't true. Up to a decade ago, south america was a real mess and still is to a large degree. Every country had a dictator and they were always for the wealthy land-owners of european decent. America supported them financially, morally and militaristicly. No european or north american said a damm thing and everything was fine!

When castro got rid of batista, the wealthy land-owners and itallian mafia then SUDDENLY everything was wrong. Oh my, a disaster..we need to boycot cuba and choke the # out of them. Indeed the embargo still holds tight, although a little less apparent now.

Now we have an outspoken socialist "strongman" in venezuela who dares give a somewhat honest opinion and everyone is quick to call him a terrible dictator just because he wants to give the average person a little more freedom and power. Again its the rich of north america and europe!

Your either for the wealthy or for the poor. Its always been that way for centuries. Why do you think english is the official world language, french being second and spanish being third? Because of european imperialism throughout the world!

Its always been about power, wealth and greed. Nothing new really, except the methods have become much more subtle. When the greeks, romans and persians conquered much of "the old world" they did not pretend anything because they didn't have to. They were more powerful during their era and they took advantage of their superiority.

Since the enlightment era of the so-called renaissance, dictators try to fool people by using fancy terminology that only they understand. We don't have democracy and we never did. We have a carefully rooted illusion that is nearly impossible to see through unless you know history well.

Everything is ok on the surface, but when you start digging for truth, you find truth. They don't give you truth on the 9 o'clock news! You have to search for it! People like to ridicule youtube but I find it a much more reliable source than mainstream media for just about every topic.

You think electing a president and having a congress is democracy? Then why are they making so many bad decisions? Because they are human? Yeah only they are human and we are not... What a cheap cop-out! Sometimes you don't have to have a doctorate degree to realise its all a scam. A bachelorette or even a high school degree may suffice!

Plain common sense is often more than enough!

But it's not all bad, else we would still be living a medieval existence.

One wicki article does not convey the majority of the will of the people. Come on you should know better than that.
Anyway life goes on aye?...

EL UNIVERSAL

At the ceremony, Chávez reiterated that "those entities that do not observe the Law on Banks will be intervened (by the government)."

Economy
In the proposed constitutional reform voted in 2007, President Hugo Chávez planned to create a socialist financial system. Although the changes to the Constitution were rejected in a referendum held in December 2007, the Venezuelan president has gone on with his ideas.

During the swearing ceremony of the board of directors of the new state bank Banco Bicentenario, the Venezuelan Head of State recalled that the Plan of Economic and Social Development 2007-2013 (first socialist plan) is a law, and as such it must be observed. Therefore, he said that "the banks are forced to fulfill the plan."

macedoniaonline.eu

When he said the process in Copenhagen was “not democratic, it is not inclusive, but isn’t that the reality of our world, the world is really an imperial dictatorship…down with imperial dictatorships” he got a rousing round of applause. And by rousing we mean Obama like applause during his campaigning... When Chavez said there was a “silent and terrible ghost in the room” and that ghost was called capitalism, the applause was deafening.

Well at least he is honest enough to say he is a communist. The reason and why a lot more of the world is going to stand and applaud just like I said over a year ago..... is the mentality of America. They took my way of traaining and sold iit with two foreigners while I was turning in the people who where recruiting fro Osama bin laden to find out the foreigners on tv are friends with the guy recruiting for Osama and all anyone here Ron Wyden democratic head of intel care about is that no one knows here that they where setting up scams!!!
Then To leave me sick with MRSA to die while andrea fappani and clinton Anderson are millionaires?? America shoots itself in the head and shows the world it has no human blood in its veins or empathy or justice... America is now the bad guys of the world in front of the entire western horse world. Really the truth and so stupid they cannot see that I tell the truth or they know it and have lost there soul to do the right thing.. The CIA has lost its face and standing in front of the entire world community in more ways than one but the al qaeda message the days are pregnant?? The CIA looses all.. even America because the rest of the world are the ones who need to tell you where terror attacks are coming from and as long as they all can only see steve ahlberg and the USA navy special warfare as the beast of the bible and the gay bully of the world? The true story of murder in Oregon, mk ultra, and more....
