I have to give it to you Doc, I had to see what else you had to say. You're a great source of entertainment. And Lieberman is the definition of a corrupt politician.

Oh yes, because Franken did not win his election when 100 votes suddenly appeared in the back of someone's vehicle, nor when towns all over the stronghold areas of MN reported more votes than residents living there.

Apparently you need a little brushing up yourself, sister. Your liberal heroes in the Senate do not comprehend what it means when 57% of Americans don't want healthcare reform. Yet your liberal heroes push on, ignoring the will of the American People.

Hey, more power to them — let them frolic in their blind ignorance while they can. We'll deal with them in 2010, won't we?

Oh yes. We will.

Oh you mean when the GOP will ride in to save us all? Good luck with that...lmao

I have noticed that ATS is more like WND every day.

Could you elaborate on this?

[edit on 18-12-2009 by Josephus23]

Look at threads that begins with any conservative premise, from the reasonable to the wild eyed whack jobs and they get the most stars. Spend a minute scanning the topics and you'll see it.
There is much less discussion of conspiracies and a lot more political posturing.

I agree that it seems like ATS is being attacked so as to derail legitimate threads.
I also seem to notice that the "de-bunkers" on ATS get a lot of stars right off the bat and usually offer very little in the way of actual information.

I personally think that TPTB are trying to associate true conservative beliefs with being mentally unstable, which is an atrocity. (see Glen Beck and the entire Faux News staff)

Our government was founded as a Republic, but with certain Democratic aspects. Probably one of the most conservative presidents of all time was Thomas Jefferson and he ran as a Democratic-Republican.

This takeover of our government has been several years in the making and during Jefferson's time trade with Europe was used to try and divide the States. Trade with Europe, protectionism and tariffs are what started the Civil War, not slavery. (I mean do you really think that the government that did what we did to the Native Americans gives a hoot about slavery?)
So in order to avoid Civil War, Jefferson just refused to allow trade with any other nation and he was re-elected. Jefferson was the ultimate isolationist.

Every single person serving in DC has sold their soul and they all need to be impeached. We need a populist revolution, but it is still possible to take our government back without resorting to violence. The tools are still left in our Constitution.

I just hope that it happens, because at this rate, it will eventually lead to violence if nothing is done.

I agree with you. The first step should be campaign finance reform. We all saw how that went didn't we? Until we get the lobbyists and the bags of money out of elections there will be no change. Public financed elections anyone?

Where do you get your info? Votes showing up in cars! C'mon. If you read earlier posts you will see that it has been shown that someone earlier in the day had his extra time turned down.So it does happen. Franken was just following the laws.

This has already been addressed, but Rep. Wilson made a rude catcall ("You Lie!") during an Obama address — this was a truly rude and disrespectful gesture, we all agree.

Joe Wilson immediately apologized to the President in person, but House Democrats threatened to censure Wilson anyway.

Now, do you think Al Franken should apologize to Joe Lieberman in person, and do you think Senate Democrats would consider censuring Al Franken for his disrespectful gesture?

Hell. No. They. Won't.

Is this hypocritical of the Democrat-controlled Congress?

Oh, you bet your ass it is.

— Doc Velocity

The difference here is that what Wilson did was actually against the rules. Did Franken break any rules or was he just obnoxiously trying to enforce one?

politicalwire.com...

Already covered this, too.

I do not like Sen. John McCain. He is a left-leaning moderate and he (and the moderate GW Bush) conspired with the liberal Democrats against conservatives.

I do not like McCain. I don't respect him. Case closed. No debate.

Sorry Doc but GWB was and still is a tried and true conservative - his administration was more conservative than Reagan's ever was. You can run but you can't hide from your failed conservative policies. Trying to paint a conservative President as a "moderate" to salvage your ideology is not very becoming...

I find it funny as hell that people on here set up on their pedestal and judge the way these politicians act... There is a saying that is something like "you get the government you deserve"... I believe a nations government is a reflection of its citizens, maybe if we all grow up so will it reflect in our government.

Star for you, but why so puzzled? People are hypocrites. They know they're responsible for the corrupted crap that goes on in government, but they can't bring themselves to look in the mirror.

Neither are they willing to accept that a corrupt politician or administration is but a symptom — like a festering boil — of a deeper systemic disease afflicting the country.

The liberal Clinton administration was a perfect example of a rotten, morally bereft politician mirroring the moral rottenness of the majority that elected him. The best thing that came out of the Clinton Administration was the government assassination of 80+ men, women, and children in Waco, Texas, because it finally woke up the nation to how venomous and tyrannical the central government had become.

The moderate Bush administration was a mirror-image of a befuddled majority willing to compromise with far-left liberals, which resulted in war and waste and bad legislation. The Iraq War was one of the best things that came out of the Bush Administration (in spite of the fact that most Congressional Democrats supported it), inasmuch as it once again polarized the nation.

Coming out of the mind-numbingly dull Bush Administration, the voting majority was ready for any kind of change, just anything, we don't care!

And that's what they got — the most absurd and corrupt administration we've seen since Nixon... The administration of Barack Hussein Obama. I mean, this administration is so bad, it's only a year old and it's already chasing away its core supporters. Seemingly every cabinet nominee was a tax-dodging con-man. Obama couldn't swing a dead cat without hitting a crook in the Democrat Party — so he just started appointing Wall Street crooks.

Which was hilarious. I'm still laughing.

Anyway, I think the only positive thing coming out of the Obama administration is the stark realization that we'd better select our leaders MUCH MORE CAREFULLY in the future. Because Obama is wrecking America — not single-handedly, he's got a lot of help. But his methods are so awkward and clumsy and destructive, even the liberals can see the danger.

And that's good.

A spot on analysis dude. I never thought about the slavery vs. Native decimation before. That was kind of a heavy weight you dropped on me there. I can't believe I've never thought of that, or even heard anyone else bring it up. Thanks for giving me something serious to think about.

This has to do with EVERY single person in DC being corrupt. Whether we are talking about the Franken, Obama, Leiberman, McCain. It doesn't matter.
This is absolutely about the thread and saying that it isn't exemplifies the problem with the left/right paradigm.
So if I am on here can I only talk about Franken and Leiberman or McCain. I thought that this thread was about disrespect in the Federal Government and I can't think of anything more disrespectful than how WE THE PEOPLE get treated by the federal government.

Glenn Beck is an entertainer, but he makes conservatives look foolish. Just as Franken does a progressive.

If you were to watch the third party candidate debates for the previous election, you would hear more talk about the US Constitution than all of the televised Republican and Democrat debates combined in the history of televised debates. They don't talk about the constitution.

@Angus123

The truth about our government is heavy. It is the heaviest, and I am glad that I could at least get through to one person on this board.
We don't matter to the people on capitol hill. They want money. That is the game.
I am adding you to my friend list brother.

And now I totally understand why you compared this to WND.

Excellent description. Thanks for giving me something to think about.

I am so sick of all American's using the word Socialist so loosely. This is not a lighthearted word, its meaning is not what half of society believes it to be. This was started in the McCain/Palin rally's which showed nothing but complete ignorance on the part of Americans. It now is continuing into the Senate and MSM.

The people who use this word so loosely need to be put in a socialist environment for a while, then come back to the U.S. and see the difference. It is one thing for a person to have idea's and philosophy's that have a socialistic base and a whole different ballgame for a person who is an actual socialist who's ideas and philosophy integrate other forms of Political Science.

I don't know what you're smokin Doc but don't put it anywhere near me..

Your conservative boy GW did more to wreck this country than any President in the last 100 years. And he did it without conspiring with any liberal or moderate elements of the government. It was a conservative cabal that pulled a think-tank of conservative ideologues from Richard Pearle to Dick Cheney.

It takes a lot longer to fix something than to break it. Try not to hate America so much. Maybe you'll change your tune in 2012 when Obama coasts to re-election on the success of his policies.

Ah... But that's exactly what the Obama administration is doing — immersing us in socialism. And he's not turning up the heat slowly, either, he throwing America into boiling socialism, right off the bat.

Yes, I fully understand what socialism is. I know that Stalin was beheading capitalists in 1944, and murdering millions of Russians who wouldn't bend to his will, guns to their backs. I know he was driving worship underground.

Socialism sucks.

But it never starts out with beheadings and mass-murder and breadlines. It starts out with the government "stepping in to assist" where it's not needed.

And that is exactly what we're getting from this administration and this Congress. Socialism. On a fast track.

AGREED!

The largest expansion EVER of the Federal Government happened under the presidency of GWBush.
The TARP and the TALF are both the legacy of GWBush.

How in the world is that conservative?

GWBush is another one that makes it embarrassing to be a conservative.
