What we know for a fact about the Canadian healthcare system is that when Canadians want quality healthcare and fast, they come to the United States. Every time.

And I imagine a lot more American babies would survive if we weren't aborting them at a rate of 800,000 annually.

The difference is that Senate Democrats threatened to censure Rep. Wilson if he didn't apologize immediately, which he did.

You think the Democrats are going to demand that Al Franken apologize immediately? Hell no. Because the Democrats are hypocrites.

Easy there. No need to insult canada, especially when we're economically in a much better spot that you guys are.

I've toured Canada, I know what economic situation you're in — people selling the farm to make ends meet, 80% unemployment in some areas, people in 2-month waiting lines for health care.

Don't give me that Canada is so wonderful malarky. It's a lie.

Yes, it is. Hot air and posturing on the part of a pathetic socialist has-been entertainer named Al Franken.

Complete BS.

Man, you should write for Disney. Great fiction dude.

If this opinion mattered I would give it a serious reply.

Joe Lieberman is also a JUNIOR Senator. Christ Dodd has been serving since 1981 and Lieberman since 1989. Just FYI.

So, trying to change the way things are done(because they obviously havent been working) makes someone an idiot?

Trying to enforce the rules, which he did not make, makes someone an idiot?

I am sorry, but this OP comes off as an apologist for the "Good Ol' Boys" who are used to saying what they want, when they want, for as long as they want, without any consideration for the rules set in place long ago.

Thumbs up to Mr. Franken for not pandering to the "Good Ol' Boy" mentality.

Ad hominems are only valid when they point out an irrelevant aspect of the person, e.g. "Doc velocity is wrong about government because he's a doctor and not a politician."

As has been pointed out by others, the poster's indignation is suspect because it seems selective based on party affiliation, and in an OP basically about Franken's rudeness, he's displayed the same characteristics he's railing against...So yeah, I think Buddha's comments are definitely appropriate.

Yeah we DO know it!
how lame, how ridiculous.
Thats about a dumb as all the 'liberals' that whined endlessly about Bush "stealing' elections.
Obama WON by a large margin, and IS The President!

Er.. nothing about that says he made an ass of himself. Now if like on SNL he strutted around as a chicken singing Born Free that would be another matter.

Al was just exercising his right to voice his opinion, on this strict rule. Nothing at all wrong with that.

Gee, that would be the American People that elected Obama by a landslide margin? the same OBAMA THAT MADE HEALTH CARE REFORM THE CENTERPIECE OF HIS CAMPAIGN?
You guys are a laugh!

obama has 52.9% of the popular vote.. i doubt that's a landslide in anyone's mind.

wait, healthcare was his centerpiece, i thought is was his black half, and i'm not talking about his wife.

He kept a firm hand on the gavel, like any good chair does...what's the big deal? I don't think Lieberman has earned any slack from the Dems of late, anyway...no coincidence it was a Republican that took umbrage.

Come on, Jonny, ONE extra minute was not going to cause a big problem with the schedule. Beside, it is an UNWRITTEN rule of common courtesy that allows members that time. Sure, he technically had the right to refuse it, but it has NEVER been used. This shows the pettiness that the Democrats have gone to. I hope it ends up BURNING them. Remember, it wasn't Joe L. that DECIDED to run as an independent, instead of a Democrat. It was the pettiness, because Joe supported the war, and Obama and the Dems claimed to want to end the wars. Well, now Obama is EXPANDING the war in Afghanistan, so tell me, WHO is the hypocrite?

True, but that will change in 2010.

Tuesday, December 08, 2009

A new Rasmussen Reports telephone survey in Connecticut now finds Dodd attracting just 35% to 40% of the vote against three possible Republican challengers.

Former GOP Congressman Rob Simmons is still his toughest opponent, leading Dodd 48% to 35%. Seven percent (7%) prefer some other candidate in this contest, and 11% are undecided. Those figures are a slight improvement for Simmons since September

BTW, Merry Christmas, BH.

Really? Sounds like a story to me.

I've seen property after property after property for sale throughout Canada, with interesting little "for sale" signs posted out front, such as "truck for sale" next to a sign that reads "tractor for sale" next to a sign reading "horse for sale" next to a sign that pathetically reads "dog for sale"... THAT is the bottom of the economic barrel, chum. And I've seen hundreds of such pitiable situations all over Canada.

You just don't know your own country.

The worst situation I saw was in Nelson, British Columbia, where unemployment was so high, there were panhandlers and beggars on virtually every street corner. You're denying it? You don't know your own country.

Unemployment ON THE RISE in Canada: 2009

Your fabulous healthcare system? Let's take a look at your own CBC news in Canada in 2007:

Healthcare Waiting List for Surgery at ALL TIME HIGH in Canada: Over 18 Weeks

That's FOUR MONTHS, chum. Still denying it?

You're either a liar or you don't know your own country.

I don't know. Bush won in 2004 with fewer votes, but declared he had a mandate to push his agenda on the America people.

That's because even Bush didn't expect to win...and yet he did win in a decisive fashion. John Kerry conceded defeat and was shame-faced for failing the groundswell of liberal outrage.

Bush rightly observed, "I now have political capital, and I'm going to spend it." Which he did. At this late date, you can go back and bash Bush, but at least he did everything he said he was going to do, regardless of seething liberal hatred.

In addition, we didn't have over 10% unemployment and a DEFICIT that is EXPLODING, nor did we have the threat of a health care bill which will kill health care for seniors, and provide it to people that are too lazy to work.

Technically, there's no difference between junior and senior Senators from the same state except that one was in office earlier than the other.

In the case of Joe Lieberman and Al Franken, Senators from different states, it's entirely appropriate to identify Lieberman as senior to Al Franken — considerably senior — which is how I identified Lieberman in the OP.
