Very true....So what needs fixing here, the cost of health care that capitalism has no control over, or just dump hard earned tax dollars into a broke system?

A simple doctor office visit was 600 dollar for me that my insurance paid, but I can take my son to clinic outside the insurance umbrella and pay cash of like 20 bucks. I can get good hospital care in other countries and afford it straight out of my pocket too.

So do we need to have more control over a costly system that will even raise the cost more or let the free market do a correction and drive the cost of healthcare down by simply using competition?

Does this really matter? While our world burns in Afganistan and Iraq and our economy is in tatters, is this the subjet to get heated about? 10 min. limit on speaking? Get mad as hell that 2 trillion just got stolen from us. That the Democrats and Republicans both are to blame for the USA ills. That what gets me going.

I agree the Healthcare bill is a big corporate payout and ill serves the people. But frankly Lieberman is just as much to blame as the rest for this Healthcare sham. Lieberman is from Connecticut and shills for the many Insurance companies located there.

At first I thought perhaps you were sincere but misguided.
After that ridiculous statement I can see you're not interested in real debate or even truth for that matter.

Put on some pants. Leave your mother's basement. Stop chain smoking. Put down the Doritos. Work at McDonald's if you have to. But for god's sake expose yourself to the real world and stop letting Fox and Friends liquify what little grey matter you actually have.

Great post man, you hit the nail on the head there.

I guess it was inevitable that someone would be completely conned by the whole right winged media propaganda campaign on this incident, and produce another wacko political hack job of a thread.

The entire premise (the original premise that is) is totally 100% bogus.

Franken cut off Leiberman on Reid's say so

" I was presiding over the Senate and when you’re presiding you really have no choice on what to do. The Leader, the Majority Leader, is the leader of the Senate, and he gave me — gave all of us today who were presiding — instructions that no one was to speak over 10 minutes, on either side of the aisle. …

Usually you’re allowed to do this, but just today we were told not to let it happen because there’s been some attempt to string out the debate. So I really just had no choice, and Joe knew what I was doing. Joe was surprised, but later figured out what I was doing. It was just fine. …

Joe was actually speaking on an amendment to the bill that I am totally in favor of. I agreed with every word he said for the entire 10 minutes [video]. I think he probably had only, like, 30 seconds left, and I just was kind of– he didn’t take it personally at all."

Video clips of the exchange suggested Franken was sticking it to Lieberman in retribution for the Connecticut independent exploiting his swing-vote status on the pending health-care reform bill.
...
But with Franken’s explanation, Thursday’s incident appears to fall into the category of much-ado-about-something-procedural, as happened last July when U.S. Rep. Michele Bachmann appeared to advance the birther cause by objecting to a resolution that recognized Hawaii as President Obama’s birthplace.

Please excuse the double post...I was chuckling and hit 'er twice.
Really...the only thing pathetic about our government is the lame-arse right wing that can't seem to get fully elected...but won't go away.

Shame and embarassment you say? And do you recall Frankin's first major contribution to the Senate?

Franken's Anti-Rape Amendment Survives
An amendment that would prevent the government from working with contractors who deny victims of sexual assault the right to bring their case in court has survived attempts to dull its impact and seems poised to become law...
The controversial Title VII provision, which would allow victims of assault to sue the employers of the alleged perpetrator and not just the perpetrator himself or herself, remains in the bill...
The amendment was initially added to the defense appropriations bill on October 21, 2009 by a 68 to 30 vote. Despite wide support for the measure (and ridicule for the 30 Republicans who opposed it) both the Obama administration's Department of Defense and Chairman Inouye raised concerns while the legislation was being considered in conference committee. Attempts to strip it of the Title VII provision were met with public outcry, which a Senate source familiar with the negotiations says was partially responsible for its ultimate passage.
www.huffingtonpost.com...

You want shame and embarrassment, I'd look to those who opposed this bill. I'd say Frankin's carrying his weight, and y'all could use a few more principled reps in DC. Quit whining.

It's been revealed that this story was ginned up and that there was a general limit on everyones time during this. Franken even is quoted as saying he agreed with what Lieberman was saying at the moment and that his time treatment was what everyone was getting. So no slap against Lieberman, nor favoritism either.

This thread is a non-issue and could be put to rest IMHO.

Take a good look all you progressives out in la la land. This is the idea of change they have in mind does it sit well with you? And if it does I truly feel sorry for you. The disrespect he is showing is I fear how they for the most part feel about anyone who dissents. AL is a piece of sh*t

How so? I chair meetings, and the best ones work if everybody respects the gavel. The worst ones are where there is none. And 'just a moment' in a meeting can easily turn into a half/hour. Your Senate isn't as bad as our Parliament...but at the rate things are getting done I'd say it's time to abide by the rules.

So explain why Frankin is a piece of #, please?

Is that what passes for intellectual discourse in your county?

You are right, we should be pining for the dignity and respect of Dick Cheney telling reps to "Go F*** yourself." Or maybe you could read any of the many many links showing this being done by the right all over the place too.

Yup, now look what that fool Frankin has gone and done:

Obama signs Franken’s anti-rape amendment into law. thinkprogress.org...

...and hand-in-hand with that Obama, too!

I can hardly wait for the usual suspects turn that into some kind of left wing conspiracy.

You may be a US citizen. Your word is not proof of such.

Joe "Flip that switch for Israel" Lieberman has specialized in being a turnstile politician. Whoever puts the change in his pocket has him in theirs.

As to Al Franken telling him to sit down and stfu, thank you. The advantage of chairing is you do not have to listen to a craven pos, as Joe Lieberman is, beyond the limit of his allowed time. It's also to be noted that indeed this device IS employed infrequently in the Senate. McCain is wrong, but then again what's new?

As a side issue the technique of supporting your position by spreading disinformation is also the act of an unprincipled individual. If Al needs to be spanked for sitting Joe, I'd take a slap to quiet you.

Subjective truth, is a non-sequitor.

As to progressives being wrong or fantasists, the only way you will know is when something NEW fails. Public housing designed by Marxists is certainly a failure. Public housing designed by architects with a social sense. a success.

Anything done by conservatives, a success only for themselves and eventually the demise of the social network in which they have prospered. This leads to societal collapse and oligopoly until a revolution resolves things (normally badly since self-governance has been squashed long enough that no institutions have survived to permit an easy transition).

It's time for the dispatching of the super rich, all six thousand of them.

I'm sure that the infrastructure that created them will be able to replace them briefly. Maybe fortunes and corporations should have lifetimes, just like us. Four score and ten is enough time for organizations and individuals to show what they got and then die.

This avoids the crash scene while allowing for evolutionary changes with less drama. I'm getting off topic here, sorry.

Kind of all a mute point now. Obama has bribed all of the liberals he needed to, so the time doesn't really matter. Al is still a tool though.
