This is Bolivian president Evo Morales. It is consequently the most terrifying thing I've heard in a long time.

A quote:
"Capitaliism is the worst enemy of humanity"

Need to know more?

that was a great interview, worth watching, Morales makes some excellent points, Remeber Morales is Indigenous to Bolivia and his world view is going to be different from an American's.

As a socialist i agreed with petty much everything he said.

The audacity!!! Humans will control the temperature of the earth? We will keep temperatures the same? What is so hard to understand about the constant change in the earth's climate? WHAT???????

"the best way to defend mother earth is to PAY a climate debt". This guy is talking like the destruction of the earth is imminent. That is definately arguable. What he's implying is that WE pay and HE recieves. Big surprise.

I understand that his world view is different.

I think he makes some decent points as well, I'm all for protecting earth but (as he said near the end) it should be a agreement by the peoples of every country, not diplomats. Governments ruin every good thing they decide to hijack. That's EXACTLY what would happen if we "eliminated" capitalism through new laws and restructuring.

I just don't like being told what to do, or how to live. I can live responsibly and I can be a good sire to the earth I attend to, we shouldn't have to have leaders telling us to do that.

so that means we should still go around pumping crap into the atmosphere, dumping toxic waste, cutting down the rain forests, building up islands of plastic in our seas., dumping nuclear waste. THAT is treating Mother Earth with disrespect. You can't argue otherwise. This is not just about the warming of the planet. It's about capitalisms destructve nature.

It's not capitalism itself whose nature is destructive, it's irresponsible people. There will be irresponsible people in ANY economic system and they will rise to the top.

I'm sorry I'm really starting to think that "socialist" is a mental disorder. In fact I'm sure if an unbiased mental study happened there would be overwhelming evidence that it is in fact a mental disorder.

Lack of education or very nefarious intents and the rhetoric is meant to deceive. Saying that governments ruin things while at the same time promoting a system in which the government is omnipotent tells me that he is mentally defective.

I agree, those are horrible things. However, cap'nhagen is a joke in terms of solving any of those problems. Since the answer to the manufactured problem of climate change has been tackled in accordance with an elitist agenda, claiming that capitalism has no answer to the problems you outlined has no merit. Essentially, they have not properly been addressed.

This guy seems to think that if capitalism disappears so will greed, fear, envy, and the lust for power. It wont, it will only change form. The rich will remain rich, and with everyone else "equal", aka, "poorer", any resistance to such tyranny can be easily handled from the top.

All the problems that you have outlined can be addressed by research. Instead of paying for grants whose sole purpose is to pad AGW's shady resume, tax dollars should be going towards alternative energy methods, cleanup methods, and recycling methods. This by no means makes a transferance of wealth necessary imo.

edit: i do agree that war is unnecesary. Imagine the expansion of green technology in a capitalist paradigm when lobbyists are looking for handouts to research and develop cleaner technologies!!

A mental disorder in relation to what? Define mental stability.

An unbiased mental study is a fantastical idea since there must be a point of reference to which you would compare the mental stability against.
Therefore, any findings of such a study would be biased toward the frame of reference.

I`m afraid what this planet currently "thinks" is mentally stable would be a poor point of reference for any mental study
