i suppose you prefer to live in socialist countries like france? the founding fathers would be fighting violently to prevent everything they accomplished from going down the drain, to keep us free. if you want socialism, ill help you pack and even buy you the damn plane ticket back to france.

It is good to get angry. But it is bad to direct anger without reason. Rather than buying me a ticket to France, donate that money to a good cause to help your fellow man, perhaps to the ACLU, which exists to protect your freedoms. Or contribute and listen to NPR, which would give you a new and important perspective on your one-and-only life.

France is America's first ally. I don't think our founding fathers would understand your reference to France as some sort of enemy. France is a beautiful place. They have great health care. The country is beloved by many good Americans.

So anyway, I still say Obama should get an A+ for near perfection in guiding us through these precarious times. (See my previous post for a more detailed explanation.) Nothing I have read in this thread has persuaded me otherwise.

Well, if you are looking for someone to convince you, how about a reputable entity you say protects freedoms.

Didn't the ACLU just come out and condemn Obama for doing rendition and other things that Bush has done.

Oh, nevermind. Would not want to bring HYPOCRISY into this discussion.

I would grade him an A++ for being the perfect trojan horse. Everyone is enamored with him as he's trying to work his way in.. Once he gets into the gates and everyone's charmed and asleep, soldiers pop out of his insides to attack everyone.

Good point. (It is the second time you mentioned "rendition", so I know you are serious about this
)

In a perfect world, Obama should not be engaged in "torture by proxy", which is exactly what rendition is. The ACLU is right to call him on this.

But as a practical matter, Obama is president only of the USA. He doesn't have jurisdiction over the entire world. And of course, the countries we transfer prisoners to officially deny they use torture. And of course, a lot of Americans are in favor of torture anyway, so there are limits to what Obama actually needs to do here. In prohibiting torture within the USA, he has taken an important step back from what Bush started.

The ACLU can call him on taking only one step back instead of two, but it isn't productive.

So I have to side AGAINST the ACLU here. Obama keeps his A+. I will demote the ACLU to an A-, but no lower, because they are morally right if not really practical.

Of course he rates himself so highly
He is judging by his schedule of American destruction
He could care less by what the people think
This is most obvious

i can't judge his work so far. it isn't complete, and it is entirely likely that i could be wrong. i am inclined to say "F", but want to wait before saying that. I can say that Bush, originally, was an "F" for me. Now i would say he did a solid B. He should have smacked congress around a little more, and his raiding of the stock market sucked...but i cannot pin that directly on him.

If i score Obama on what he promised, he gets a solid F. There are very few things he has done that he promised. Of course, that makes me happy. I am pissed about the lack of transparency, but i hope that he isn't able to get health care done. not until there is a reasonable plan that doesn't risk the care i recieve from BCBS of Texas.

I have yet to see the USA 'destroyed', I'm going to go out on a limb and say his approval rating is so low because he's too middle of the road. Those on the right say he's doing too much, those on the left saying he's not doing enough...he's not making a lot of people happy by being the great negotiator.

How many laws has he signed that have taken your freedom away? Really, links please. To the actual bill, not the blog/news site.

Healthcare would be old hat by now if not for the decrying of socialism by 'news' agencies such as Fox, who claim 'Fair and Balanced' while also stating that Hannity, O'Reilly and Beck are just op-eds but turn a blind eye when their own anchors report on last nights four hour op-ed saga about socialism and how everything would be better if it were just 1790 again...

The big banks have all the money in the America, if they hoarde it, of course the economy is going to be terrible. You can't just give people money, they'll simply pay on their late payments and buy more stuff...forever entangled in their debt. That's why we need to better educate our youth on things such as economics and saving. It's all really straight forward: Bank has $, small business needs more $ to expand and hire more people, bank withholds $ for fear of loss during the quarter and small business hires no one, people looking for a job can't find one and start asking for help from their state and federal government, taxpayer $ goes towards helping unemployed, etc., etc.

You're so blinded by your parents Cold War commie-fear that if given an alternate idea to cut-throat capitalism and monopolies you come to any argument with your guns blazing!

The only polls or grades that matter are the ones in November, so no grade from me.

You didn't see that mad spending spree in his first sixty days as destructive? Shoving a "national" health care deal down our throats when most of the American people don't want it, you don't find that destructive? How about BO's head of the EPA declaring CO2 dangerous? That should raise H with industry here in the US. Look at the czars that ole BO's appointed without being checked out by anyone but himself. You've got a press that laps up anything he says with the exception of Fox.

You're going to have to refresh my memory on that spending spree and tell me exactly which of the majority does not want health care reform at all and feels that what we have now is just fine.

As for your CO2 remark, stop listening to the 10 second blurb and do some research;

The EPA's finding doesn't say carbon dioxide, or CO2, is by itself a pollutant -- it is, after all, a gas that humans exhale and plants inhale. Rather, it is the increasing concentrations of the gas that concern the agency.

Show me a president in the past 50 years that hasn't appointed the head of an agency without the consent of congress then tell me how many of our current appointees were appointed without congressional consent.

While I do occasionally find giant PDF files interesting, I thought I closed the book on this with my last quote/source link. So I won't address this.

I hate to nitpick, but that's not what I asked.

I understand a lot of people are afraid of government run healthcare as an alternative to privately owned healthcare, which is why there's no public option in the current legislation. But when the democratic party was running with a government reform healthcare platform, where was this majority in November of 2008?

And here's obamas spending spree. blog.heritage.org...

This 'spending spree' your link refers to is really no different than any other fiscal year appropriations bill. While I will admit to the fact that each year more is being spent than the previous year, I won't let you dog the president because of it...expecially because you're referencing Bush's FY09 budget.
