The phenomenon could be seen all over Norway, with witnesses describing a swirling light filling the sky around 8 a.m. and then seeming to explode.

The Russian Defense Ministry has confirmed the Russian Navy launched a Bulava ballistic missile on the same day, but has declined to make any connection with the lights seen over Norway.

This is neat, and sorry to say I don't see anything "sinister" about the story, the photographs show a perfect spiral consistent with a rocket that lost its course. But just to be sure, I wanted to post this on good ol' ATS, I'm sure there are some interesting thoughts on the matter. If you want help to fuel a conspiracy, there was a thread posted on another incident identical to this back in October that now leads to a 404 (no thread found) error.
