I suppose I could believe the rocket theory, except for one issue: in one of the earliest posted videos, the point of light blooms outward, and
becomes a dark circle with a blue-ish ring around it.
What kind of rocket would create such an explosion? I know there were theories being thrown around about the explosion creating a vortex which
evaporated all the moisture in the air or some crap like that, but I don't buy it. Show me a rocket that has done THAT before, and I might be more
inclined to believe the theory.

Wow, I've never seen anything like that before. Like some have said, it looks completely photoshopped, at least the spiral rings.
But from videos, this thing is crazy!
I would love to get more pictures of where the blue was hitting earth, or at least pointing. Looked like some crazy skies at that area. Something
there maybe?
Personally, I can't see it being a rocket :S . Unless it's a special military built rocket ONLY for this occasion and built by chinese firework
specialists just to create a new era of fireworks! LOL.
No, if it is a rocket, fine. At the moment, I just can't see it being that. But you know, it does sound plausible.
I would love to see the ground where it was pointing, do you guys remember this photo:?
This part looks like a failed rocket launch, but it suddenly ends, and after you got that phenomenon of a blue trail and a massive spiral.
Anyways, it's beautiful whatever it is. The black hole at the end amazed me, just sucked itself away, that's probably what makes me think it isn't
a rocket!
Can't wait to see if anyone finds out what it is! SEARCH THE GROUND

WoW this is seriously scary...
a few minutes ago I felt the urge to read an horror manga named "Uzumaki"
Here
It's a very unsettling story about a town being slowly obsessed with spirals, and probably one of the most horrific manga ever written.
Then just after that, I go to ATS to find this ?
I know synchronicities happen often to me, but here the combination of this spectacular sight and the absolutely terrifying story from the manga
really scared me...

Anyone know where I can find a larger version of that picture that was taken with a long exposure time?
This one.
As for what caused the problem? my vote goes for a rocket test possibly with some kind of experimental propulsion system going wrong.

I'm enjoying everybody's take on this and thier reasons why. Let's see if we can do some eliminating of possibilities.
One of our own members is directly involved with LHC. I have U2U'd 'buddhasystem' and maybe he can shed some light on LHC's recent activities.

Id say by virtue of judging the supposed "launch" angle that this is not a rocket/missile. Look at the photos in whic you can see the "tail" and
you will see in order for that to have been a rocket/missile its launch angle would be impossible. You fire rockets/missiles UP you dont fire them
horizontally.
Dont come back at me with "that is up" that is not an upward angle, given the distance and the tail you can see that would have to have been a tree
burner of a missile and they dont fire missiles/rockets like that.

The LHC has nothing to do with it, how could it, Switzerland is to far away from Norway, if this phenomenon is caused by the LHC we should see it
occuring above or near the LHC, not some 1000 km away... at least that's what my logical thinking concludes.
Got no idea what it could be thought, and i'm dying to find out.
An out of control rocket seems unlikely to me (imho)

Norway has the stillest air currents? Rockets produce trails, why arent the "rocket trails" being disturbed by the air currents? No currents?
Exhaust from rocket and fuel being burnt create light, why is the light fixed in one position?
Its not a rocket.

No, you said search the ground, my picture shows it didn't originate from the ground. What you think it could be is open to your interpretation..
