This is probably how things would end for me.

Don't let it end like this. Tell them I said something. ~ Pancho Villa

Others I like

I've had eighteen straight whiskies, I think that's the record . . . ~ Dylan Thomas

To my friends: My work is done. Why wait? ~~ George Eastman, inventor, d. March 14, 1932

Take a step forward, lads. It will be easier that way. ~~ Erskine Childers, Irish patriot, d. November 24, 1922 (executed by firing squad)

Narvaez, Ramon Maria (1800-1868) "I do not have to forgive my enemies, I have had them all shot." (Said on his deathbed, when asked by a priest if he forgave his enemies.)

-Pablo Picasso-

"I will not yield, To kiss the ground before young Malcolm's feet, And to be baited with the rabble's curse. Though Birnam wood be come to Dunsinane,
And thou opposed, being of no woman born, Yet I will try the last. Before my body I throw my warlike shield. Lay on, Macduff, And damn'd be him that first cries, 'Hold, enough!'"

Macbeth

"Quien es? Quien es?" (Who is it? Who is It?)

-William Bonney (Billy the Kid)-

-Sydney Carton-

"Ça, mon âme, il faut partir" (‘So, my soul, it is time to part’)

-Rene Descartes-

"I'm still standin', huh! #&@#! Come on! Go ahead! I take your #&@#in' bullet! Come on! I take your #&@#in' bullet! You think you kill me with bullets? I take your #&@#in' bullets! Go ahead!"

...or...

"Father, into your hands I commit my spirit."

To the strongest!
Alexander the Great
(In response to his generals asking the heirless Alexander which one of them would get control of the empire.)

Pardon me, sir. I did not do it on purpose.
Marie Antoinette
(As she approached the guillotine, convicted of treason and about to be beheaded, she accidentally stepped on the foot of her executioner.)

Now I can cross the Shifting Sands.
L. Frank Baum
(authored the Wizard of Oz)

I live!
Caligula

I just wish I had time for one more bowl of chili.
Kit Carson

It don't matter; I figure I licked the Rock anyway.
Bernard Coy
(convicted criminal, shot while trying to escape Alcatraz prison, known as "The Rock")

That guy's got to stop… He'll see us.
James Dean

Wow!
Bo Diddley

You can stop now; I'm already dead.
Abigail Folger

No! I didn't come here to make a speech. I came here to die.

This was after he pulled out in front of an oncoming truck if I remember correctly. I've been there (though I wasn't driving), and we were hit, too. Seriously, you should be patient when you're trying to pull out from somewhere.

Abigail Folger

And this was when she was being murdered by the Manson clan, bleeding to death in her own front lawn. They kept stabbing her until she really was dead. Incomprehensible to me.

me, too
totally

until recently, when i saw Linda Kasabian's account dramatized on the History Channel, i had no REAL idea of just how horrific it was.

i knew it was bad but OMG

Rob Zombie uses that line in one of his songs, too
"I'm already dead, I'm already dead."

he also mentions "put an X on my head" i think in another song

old Charlie actually did break into the music business, after all
albeit via proxy but still...

I was just envisioning the dying soldier and/or 'TO' after a "touchdown" looking into the camera, saying, " I LOVE U, MOM!"....sorry

i know!
i am excited!

Piccard and Kirk together was almost just TOO much for me!

queenannie38, question? Why haven't others joined us here? This is good stuff huh? Can you spread the word with your buds?....

it IS good stuff...i have a lot more to add but i had to prioritize today

fun was only allowed 20% which is the exception, not the rule

i think most people just can't help but be uncomfortable with the subject of death - no matter how or whose or in what regard

me, i don't have a problem with it - any of it
it's no less a part of life than birth is - or the nexus or whatever!

as far as buds...i hadn't been on ATS for several months because for various reasons (and it feels great to be back)...and so far, i haven't really *ran into* any of my old cronies.
i might have to forge new cronie-bonds (more fun!)

but i will definitely do what PR i can
this thread is fun!

thanks!

ATSer’s, can we learn anything from the DYING WORDS of a few people?

There are indeed atheists in fox-holes...a minority I'm sure - but they're there.

Nothin' like holdin' on to your beliefs 'til the end, huh..?

One that resonates with me...

"I'll finally get to see Marilyn." ~~ Joe DiMaggio

I find it heartening that, in our last moments, our love still overcomes the fear.

Another that is telling...

"All my possessions for a moment of time." ~~ Queen Elizabeth I

My, my how priorities can come into focus when fate provides us with a strong enough impetus.

And maybe a hint about the absurdity of this all can be found in this....

"This is funny." ~~ Doc Holliday
