Hi people, I'm Deegy from Western Australia and pleased to meet you all.

Hoping to pick up some good topics here and contribute as well.

A friend of mine took the below pic whilst on holidays in Queensland last week and didn't realise what he had till looking at the pic a bit later on.

Any thoughts on what it may be?

Hi Deegy,

Welcome aboard - guess you were at Kuranda last week?

Not sure what is in your picture but immediate thought is an insect or bird -Was there any accompanying sound and did either of you see it?

You'll find lots of help here though be expected to provide as much detail as possible.

Peace!

Welcome, the picture looks very interesting! Could be anything, it never hurts to upload the original picture, by that I mean the picture that hasn't been resized or suffered data loss when it is hosted by a server that reduces the quality. You could use hosters like megaupload or depositfiles, etc.

Did your friend see the object when he/she took the picture or was it discovered when you went though the pictures?

Edit to add I see it as a raw image, it's at 368.76 kB, is that the original size?

No they didn't see the object when the pic was taken.

Below is the original pic at around 800 kb and when blown up there seems to be aerials at one end at the top and bottom?

Hope you find it as interesting as I do.

Gday from a fellow West Aussie (living in South Aussie)

Was that pic taken in Cairns or Kuranda?

Thanks for the interest The Wave, star in a jar, OzWeatherman and pleased to meet you all.

Friend says the photo was taken on the 1st or 2nd of December at Kuranda from the Henry Ross Lookout at around midday.

Ah, Henry Ross lookout. I used to work at the drive throught bottle shop at the bottom of the hill on the Kuranda Range road when I was living in Cairns. I thought that view looked familiar

Yes it could be a bug. Friend sent me a second pic and when the dot is blown up it looks more familiar sorta like a helicopter or dragonfly?

Hi Deegy, welcome to ATS.

Dragonfly/helicopter looks about right to me.
