I see a number of people who seem miffed because Celente is not 100%. This is trends research, not a crystal ball. His record is good and he dares
tread where the corporate-owned MSM propaganda refuses to go.
Two things to keep in mind about current events.
First, the US economic system is huge with a significant amount of inertia. It may take abnormal amounts of waste, fraud, abuse, neglect and other criminal activity before it finally crashes. Point being -- the crash will absolutely happen -- but may be delayed somewhat due to the robust nature of the economic beast. The simple fact is that they can't flood the system with valueless money without having consequences.
Second, I believe various sectors of our markets (like gold) are being manipulated to some extent by various mechanisms and people. While I'm sure most people are operating under economic self-interest, I suspect others are operating under their own agenda. The actions of these people are only predictable when you understand their agenda.

In Feb 09 on Glenn Beck Radio Celente forecast....
The cities are going to look like Dodge City. They're going to be uncontrollable. You're going to have gangs in control, motorcycle marauders. You're not going to have enough police or federalis, just like Mexico, to control the situation. New York City looks like Mexico City. If you have money or they think you're going to have money, you're going to be a target for a kidnapping. We're going to see major cities look like Calcutta. There is going to be the homeless, panhandlers, hookers.we are going to see petty thieves and we're going to see pick-pockets. - GC

First and last , Celente is a business man...high profile for the past couple years.
Nigerian scammer ? ...no. Opportunistic ? ...maybe. His forecasts are fundamentally sound , but they're based upon trends that my 13yr old could probably divine if he put his efforts to it. I just think his conclusions are a bit over the top.
Excessive drama can stir strong emotions...fear sells subscriptions.
On the other hand , if the US should suffer an hyperinflationary event , it could happen overnight...in one forex session. In that case I'll gladly eat every word I just typed.....otherwise I might starve.
Borrow-me a few rolls.
I'll tell the kids I'm just hanging Christmas decorations.
