In the Movie Angels and Demons there is an Obelisk that has a Falcon atop it and as I live in Canberra, I noticed a number of similarities to what we have here in Canberra, in comparrison to what wa presented in the Movie.
The only differences between the Obielisk in Canberra and the one that was pesented in the film was that it had heiroglyhs, and a Falcon on the Angels and Demons Obelisk, whereas the Canberra one has the Obelisk itself with no decoration (heiroglyphs), and atop it it has an Eagle instead of a Falcon.
Are there any other places that have these Obelisks?

The obelisk in the plaza of Saint Peter's has a cross on it as oppsed to an avian while the Washington Monument is unadorned.

I found one in Helsinki rather quickly. There are many more if you search for the images, it seems to be a fairly common decorative element.

Yes I saw that one. Nice one too!
I find it rathar interesting that they differ only in the bird that is represented, and decoration (heiroglyphs).
I would love to know what is wrtten on some of these!

What I also find fascinating is that the Obilisks in the Vatican were taken from Egypt and placed there. And that they are representations of the Sun (correct me if I am wrong). The Vatican seems to have pilfered a lot off the Egyptians!

Its interesting isnt it. I understand St Peters and the Cross, but why the need to deviate from the Bird theme. Why place these here there and everywhere. What is the point to them?

The falcon, eagle etc represents Horus. I wouldn't worry about the obelisk.

Horus has been used by the Nazis, USA and even in the South Australian Government logo. It's who these people worship.
