ATS should shut itself down.

I kinda agree (not with closing ATS of course) but that there has been very much increase in racism, trolling and the quality of threads have gone down (just this week there were at least min. 10 threads of chain-emails spouting nonsense with no "facts").

Specially the number of liars has grown steady even if you post "facts" discrediting them they will continue repeating baseless lies over and over again and derail the thread.

I feel Mod's should do a better job or increase number of mods.

Being a lurker for a very long time..I can say "there has been no increase" of shenanigans or hijinks...it has always been here since I started being a fly on the wall.

I do not go back as far as some, but I've been around watching for a while.

I do not see why people say there has been an increase.

Maybe people just notice "stuff" when it suits them to do so.

I agree that there is a lot of garbage floating around ATS but there are jewels too.

I also get the majority of news from this site. If it wasn't for ATS I would miss some real cool news stories.

OP, I would urge you to actually get up out of your comfy arm chair, walk outside, heck you won't even have to leave your immediate neighborhood, and begin conversations with anyone you see using the very same topics you see here on ATS. I think you will find that what you see here in ATS is mild for of what you will find in reality on the very street that you live on.

Get outside, live life, enjoy what you have and remember most of all "Your opinion is yours and it feeeeeeeeeeeeels good"

Ease up, enjoy life, laugh at not only others but at yourself as well, for in the end you will be remembered by how you treated others, not for how you thought of yourself.

ATS is not the party at fault here.

Society in general is the party at fault.

ATS is merely the mirror that you are looking into from your world perspective.

Every kind of predjudice, paranoia, opinion and commentary on ATS comes from people experiencing the world every day.

Sorry, but you simply can't blame a website for societies issues - or expect it to redress them. (We're good, but not quite that good!)

Having said that, if anyone see's something they consider contravenes the T&C then they should bring it to the staff's attention via the ALERT button under each post. We can't see everything all the time.

I always enjoy your posts Ashley, but do have an issue with the term 'hate speech' altogether as it seems to have no clear definition. (as an example, I don't know anything about your shoes), is that hate speech? I'm hating your opinion or what you perceive as beauty. Personally, I'd rather someone tell me "I hate you because your Christian!" than for them to hide it from me and murder me in their dreams. At least then, I'd know where we'd stand. If they were open to discussion, I'd certainly ask "why?". Only then could be make some progress towards cooling hate and generating peace through understanding.

Okey, I'm gonna thow in my two cents. When I first joined ATS did have a lot about UFO's, ect. But I think what has is ATS sorta evolved, now it's more on giving us a heads up on what could have serious impacts on us.

Ya, I appreciate that they're willing to address the issue and am not faulting ATS. I'm saying judging what is and is not 'hate speech' is ambiguous and subjective. As I recall, we have an amendment in my country protecting free speech.

Prezactly and excisely. It's important to address stereotypes, assumptions, presumptions and prejudice with a fact verses reality comparison...else they will remain. Personally, I'll take a few stereotypes of myself because not only are they good ones, but they're also true .

Get involved in more threads with intelligent debate and statements and evidence driven responses. It's up to others to accept, and if you failed it's up to you to walk away and try again somewhere else.

If we all had the same views, attitudes and values.. it would be like a senoir citizens tea party.

Just because someone is sexist, doesnt mean I couldnt learn a thing or two from him about concept X.
Just because someone is racist, doesnt mean I dont agree with him on something else.

Infact, I find people with unique qualities to be unique for a reason. It takes a brave person to admit to their personal 'quirk', especially when its frowned upon.

Take last night for example, I go out to my favorite place and standing outside in a small town btw of maybe 60,000 people in 7 degree temperature is a guy wearing tiny little leather shorts with about 50% of his butt crack showing a cut tshirt and making out with another guy at 10:00 at night...

Okay, this isn't a red light district in Manhattan... the guys basically violating obscenity and nudity laws and it's a small town and allot of people are very conservative...

And i'm a guy who supports a persons right to be Gay

And Gay Marriage...

But I distinctly thought to myself... what if I had just come out of a movie with my kids?

It was offensive... it's not a gay bath house it's a little college bar... and your showing your stuff and making out in public... (and i never got what that whole act of flamboyancy was in the first place.... there MAY be a Gay gene but there isn't a gene that makes you act like weird mockery of women and show your can naked in public)

Maybe affirmative action isn't always cool, maybe you have a small business and want a family environment and you you all like Rock music on the radio and you have to hire the kid who comes in that might insist on playing hip hop 2 hrs a day and it's Just annoying, maybe it's just a persons life and you might want to enjoy it in a culture of your own... and being sued if you choose someone who's music and dress and life might not reflect the day you want to enjoy is kind of ridiculous.

Maybe people really don't hate or even care what anyone does in the bedroom, but like myself... get annoyed when some ones sexuality is portrayed or in drag in the supermarket or the street when they just and only wish to raise their kids and not expose them to things so young...

I can't go out in the street and demand to grab womens boobs not can a person who might have a fetish for public nudity just run down the street and show their boobs...

95% of us are Christian Jewish Catholic and we have to alter our Work day, our speech, our holidays, our educational system....

OMG I am so sick of these stupid threads. Ive been a member of ATS for well over a year now and I have never encountered anything what I would deem as racism or sexism or anything like that. Im sick of people making threads about how ATS is this or that. The reason why I keep coming here is because of the intelligent discussions about conspiracies, yes they can get a little heated but thats expected in a discussion forum. If you dont like it then go somewhere else.
