Haven't heard of them? Neither did I until today, seems these guys have their fingers in many a pie.

Let's start off with a nice corporate propaganda video for the company:

For A lot here this video alone will set off a couple of alarm bells, but let's see what else they're involved in:

(click to open player in new window)

Serco do a bunch more that didn’t even make our story:

As well as thanking God for his success, CEO Chris Hyman is a Pentecostal Christian who has released a gospel album in America and fasts every Tuesday. Amazingly, he was also in the World Trade Centre on 9/11, on the 47th floor addressing shareholders. Serco run navy patrol boats for the ADF, as well as search and salvage operations through their partnership with P&O which form Defence Maritime Services. Serco run two Australian jails already, Acacia in WA and Borallon in Queensland. They’re one of the biggest companies In the UK for running electronic tagging of offenders under house arrest or parole.

From Hungry Beast which I've linked to before, these guys do some good investigation.

Ok, seems no one has heard of them before?

maybe I should have made my title more provocative and misleading?

This is some freaky stuff allright!

Fact is, I've heard of Serco before. I think it might have been something about technical maintenance of some sort...

When I checked if Serco had a Swedish branch, I simply typed and you can never guess what I got!
This site gives me the creeps.

All my pages closed due to threats.2006- (08-12) To satisfy perpetrators I closed all e-mail and home page directly when told to. Censur?
This was not good enough.. (Lost home and three to hospital)
Yttrandefrihet i Sverige?

(Translation of words written in bold: Censur = Censorship. The last line says: "Freedom of speech in Sweden?")

Seems like this Serco was doing electrical and computer installations...but now the server has been closed down since 2006.

If one clicks on Censur. Vad hände? (Censorship. What happened?) on the top of the page, you get redirected to this eerie post:

Uppdate 2008/9 What happened? Brief story! For more than 20 years payed for false protection, couldn't pay. Did the mistake to contact the perpetrators. First BIG mistake, Got the advice / warning from government authority “do not to have any contact with them “ Didn’t realize how big that warning was. Mistake two. More will come soon: , details , names addresses and so on… My homepage made me homeless, that was just the start on journey to hell.

I don't know if this has anything to do with the Serco the OP is talking of though.

posted on Dec, 6 2009 @ 08:18 AM
Hmmm, seems like the Swedish Serco got into problems with the mobsters.
Says on the page that he paid for "protection" but got none. From there on it seems to been a slippery slide down the drain for that poor fella.

Starred and flagged. More people should read about this thread and learn about Serco, there's some good information in here.

Sorry for the delay in replying to you Raud, it does sound a bit odd for them to be threatened over a domain name. There's definitely more to that story.

The problem is, is it related to Serco in the OP?

No idea...

Thanks for the bump Yazman, and thanks to B.Morrison for linking to this thread.

I was suprised it didn't get more attention, it's as if a tangible conspiracy just isn't juicy enough for the ATS majority?

i'd really like to learn more about this shady business.

lets try to keep the info coming.

I'm amazed! I'll start digging up documents right now!

Also, I tried browsing to (Norwegian)

That site is under construction, which COULD mean that they will be establishing an Norwegian branch?

This is interesting, very interesting.
Let's keep this topic alive!

EDIT: For those who wants to look for documents connected to Serco at Gov sites. (In google type) site:mil filetype:pdf Serco

One of the first documents shown tells us that Serco was involved with the Defense Contracts of Iraq.
How much power and influence does Serco actually have?

EDIT(2): If you do a wikipedia search on Serco, you can see how much power the Serco company actually have. It's vastly powerful..

So what does everyone think?

i think it is disgusting, heinous, black-hearted, and the very definition of what i consider *wickedness*
apply the Black Sabbath song "War Pigs" to this issue, substituting the idea of war with the oppression of the poor through criminal administration sanctioned by TPTB:

Generals gathered in their masses
Just like witches at black masses
Evil minds that plot destruction
Sorcerers of death's construction
In the fields the bodies burning
As the war machine keeps turning
Death and hatred to mankind
Poisoning their brainwashed minds
Oh lord yeah!

Politicians hide themselves away
They only started the war
Why should they go out to fight?
They leave that role to the poor

Time will tell on their power minds
Making war just for fun
Treating people just like pawns in chess
Wait 'til their judgement day comes

Now in darkness world stops turning
Ashes where the bodies burning
No more war pigs have the power
Hand of God has struck the hour
Day of judgement, God is calling
On their knees the war pig's crawling
Begging mercy for their sins
Satan laughing spreads his wings
Oh lord yeah!

(from lyrics freak)

i already knew about TPTB controlling, and profiting from, our country's penal system - i've known for many years
so i thought to myself "why don't more know this already?"

well, the answer seemed to be related to individual experience; those of us who have been embroiled or briefly entangled, on the defensive side, in that which is loosely termed "the justice system" are more likely to have already discovered this.

if one has been first-hand witness, or subject to, what it's like on the side of the coin which has fallen face down, then corruption is immediately obvious.
some of these further investigate on their own, or are somehow otherwise "educated" in what's REALLY behind Curtain #0; propelling them toward the eventual sad but true story PRISON in the USA.

it doesn't matter the reason for being on that unlucky side of the coin - because falsely accused and poorly represented can be just as bad as truthfully accused and undefended.

once you find yourself to be considered "criminal" in the eyes of the "law enforcers," you are essentially judged and condemned, subtly and secretly but still just as effectively when it comes to just trying to live on your own support while minding only your own business....
there are many here who will know EXACTLY what i mean.

i'm not saying that the justice system, by design, is faulty; it's not
but the penal system, U.S. CORRECTIONS, which is the food bank, somehow, for this cannibalistic eating machine called *AMERICAN CAPITALIST ECONOMY* is totally rotten and irreparable.

another oxymoron!

we have the largest population of incarcerated adults, per capita, in all the world!
that is shameful and inexcusable
it is a huge symptom, unhidden and obvious, of a national cancer!

no matter the reason for having the most folks in jail, it is undeniably a call for SELF-CHECK

KUDOS to you, Chadwickus, for bringing this into light for inspection!!

good work

for those who would deny/self-justify this sort of profiteering as morally correct, there are stunning examples of what results when law judgments are NEVER EVER INFALLIBLE.

the first one that comes to mind is the most recent case of James Bain.

James Bain Freed After DNA Evidence Clears Him
Man exonerated, freed from prison after 35 years

he was a nineteen-year-old black man in 1974....already not a very equitable line-of-sight on the American Dream...but then was falsely accused and wrongly convicted of abducting and raping a 9 year old boy?

can you imagine what sort of consequences that sort of profile would bring, in the US prison system of the last 40 years?

if you don't understand what i mean, ask someone you know who would know or send me a U2U...or better yet, google-bing it!

it doesn't matter how much success might be had, from our systems, in efforts toward "domestic tranquility," if there is ANY chance at all, ANY CHANCE, that an innocent person might be somehow punished for the deeds of another, then the whole premise of the original Republic of the United States of America is both FALSE and UNPROVEN.

and that is just NOT ACCEPTABLE

we are not perfect, as a nation, in literally serving our collective ideal for the good of all
in fact, ideas such as "ideal" and "serve" and "collective" are rarely given devotion.
are all shouted out, every day and every hour, for one reason or another, and are well-known and even sought after
but what do they have to do with doing that which is RIGHT?

and there DOES come a point-in-time in which RIGHT and WRONG are absolutely empirical although unseen.

it is NEVER right to profit because of someone else's misfortune.
buying the sweet chriscraft boat from your neighbor's widow, next door, at a steal of a price that SHE chose, not you...well that sort of thing is NOT what i mean!
i mean premeditated, repeated, and unrelenting profiteering: stealing from the poor to give to the rich.

and it doesn't matter what authority is used by the profiteer, to justify EXPLOITING one's fellows, in the end
that black horse in Revelation is nothing other than the blind goddess named "karma" a.k.a. "universal law"
and any soul who seeks to harm another intentionally is breaking the universal law (which is love).

for those that consider themselves "christians" yet are involved with this tragic misuse of both justice and capitalism, the law is the same.
GOD's law is love
their god and my god and all of humanity's GOD IS LOVE
all the bloody crucifixions in all the history of Earth could never "pay for" such intentional cruelty - and neither could GOD's own death somehow make it right - to continue to hurt other souls, even after "accepting christ as savior," is to desecration of their own faith and claims of superiority as a religion and as souls.

i'd say that IF there was a hell....such people have reserved first class one way tickets on the first available flight after death
but hell comes to its prisoners, not the other way around

TTPTB (the true powers that be) are not the SCPTB (so-called powers that be)

STILL, we must all do what we can to get the word of truth out to those who might not realize and continue to refuse to remain silent until it is no longer a cancerous part of the United States "body."

Karma may not miss even the sneakiest evader but she's behind us, not in front of us or beside us. we must remember that an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure.
the less opportunities there are for profiteers, the smaller the profit margin.
to truly be a free nation, we must eliminate the possibility of profit altogether.
eventually, that is.

one step at a time

Found these little nuggets:

Critics also say they doubt that the new contract will result in significant cost savings or better services for soldiers in Iraq. The U.S. Army has built into the deal the potential for larger profits for the contractors than existed under the previous contract, and it plans to outsource much of the management and oversight of the contractors to yet another company, Serco, for $59 million.

KBR losing exclusive hold on Iraq contracts

and this:

ANTI-METRIX: Campaign to oppose a privatised military academy for St Athan - biggest PFI/PPP ever, with arms dealers Raytheon Serco. John Pilger "a British "School of the Americas" is to be built in Wales, where British soldiers will train killers from all corners of the American empire in the name of "global security". Tony Benn “The thought of privatising the training for the Armed forces was morally abominable”

The SourceWatch article on Serco Group is very interesting. The chief executive, Christopher R. Hyman, is a former business partner of Arthur Andersen of Enron fame. Meanwhile, their non-executive director, Tom Corcoran, is a senior adviser to the infamous Carlyle Group, as well as former President and Chief Operating Officer of Lockheed Martin’s Electronic and Space Sectors (keep in mind that Serco and Lockheed Martin are two of the managers of Atomic Weapons Establishment). His credentials include 26 years in General Electric, where he was Vice President and General Manager of their areospace operations, and is also currently a non-executive of ARINC Engineering Services, the portfolio company of the Carlyle Group, providing "communications, engineering and integration solutions for commercial, defense and government customers worldwide." Like Corcoran, the VP of ARINC, Stephen L. Waechter, has worked at GE; 19 years in fact. Waechter is the chief executive of CACI International, the private military contractor that supplied interrogators for Abu Ghraib.

Serco Inc announced today that Maureen Baginski has been named Vice President of the intelligence business and National Security Advisor at Serco.

Reston, VA (Vocus) December 7, 2009 -- Serco Inc., a provider of professional, technology, and management services to the federal government, announced today that Maureen Baginski has been named Vice President of the intelligence business and National Security Advisor at Serco. Ms. Baginski has a distinguished background with almost three decades of service in the United States Intelligence Community.

Most recently, Ms. Baginski was President of the National Security Systems Sector for Sparta Inc. and prior to that a Director in Bearing Point’s Intelligence Sector. She also served on SI International’s Board of Directors until it was acquired by Serco in December 2009.

Former National Security Agency & FBI Executive Maureen Baginski Joins Serco

Baginski is a longtime veteran of the intelligence community... she was the first Executive Assistant Director of Intelligence for the FBI, a position created in the post-9/11 decision to turn the Bureau into an intelligence agency. The position of EAD would give one "direct authority for the FBI's national intelligence program." Prior to the FBI she worked for the NSA as the director of SIGNIT (Signals Intelligence).

Signals intelligence (often contracted to SIGINT) is intelligence-gathering by interception of signals, whether between people (COMINT, or communications intelligence), whether involving electronic signals not directly used in communication (ELINT, or electronic intelligence), or combinations of the two. As sensitive information is often encrypted, signals intelligence often involves the use of cryptanalysis. Also, traffic analysis — the study of who is signaling whom and in what quantity — can often produce valuable information, even when the messages themselves cannot be decrypted.

As a means of collecting intelligence, signals intelligence is a subset of intelligence collection management, which, in turn, is a subset of intelligence cycle management.

Wikipedia - Signals Intelligence

I just had an idea - imagine if a corporation had complete access to the same tools as the intelligence community. They would be able to monitor us, analyze "chatter" and collect data on us (not that they already don't). Total market control!

It totally shocked me that one company is allowed so much control, people talk about particular media companies having too much control, but this takes the cake.

It is a bit concerning.

Even if they don't have any evil motives, one company shouldn't have so much power.
